  1. My Son-in Law certainly does not live on benifits,he has a very responsible job equivelent to a paramedic. He had given up his day off to help us clear up the mess left by builders, and that is another story. He had no ID on him as he was wearing old clothes and he could hardly nip home as he lives near Huddersfield. The thing that riled me most was that the young enough to be my grandaughter know it all,was implying that we were all liars. As for Arbourthorne residents being workshy,Neither my husband or myself have ever claimed a penny in benifits, and bought our house outright on retirement,Oh,and we neither of us drink alcohol either, have never been in a betting shop or even play bingo. Since moving here, apart from a few spats with the local wildlife,we have found local folk to be lovely,in fact our nextdoor neighbours are the best in the world. So, put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!
  2. One dosn't expect to need ID when one is 30, it happens that he hadn.t,but my word should have been enough,I spend a fortune in that overpriced shop and do not expect to be humiliated by a smug little jobsworth.
  3. I can't believe it,my 30yr old son in law was refused a few cans of lager in Arbouthorne CO-OP tonight as he looked too young. Not having any of that,I went across to buy it for him,and I was refused as I may give it to him. So,stroppy young newby shop assistant, that is two people humiliated in front of a shopful of people, thanks very much.
  4. I regularly feed and re seed the grass verge outside my property, also weed and cut it when in the mood. If the council objected to this they would be laughed out of court,I pay my council tax for them to do it so if they can't be bothered I can't see the objection in doing it myself. Don't bother digging it over, just put some soil in the holes ,seed it, and nature will do the rest.
  5. Try the Patchwork Garden on Abbeydale Rd,they sell themed fabrics for quilters you may be lucky. Tel 0114 2583763.
  6. Slightly off subject, but I do wonder why my cats need booster shots every year, when I havn't had any since I left school fifty years ago. I also manage to get their wormer and flea treatment online a lot cheaper than my Vet charges. With five house cats, plus my ferals that trust me enough, this saves me a small fortune.

HousetrainedYes Any further General Information you can share; I am looking for a special home for a special cat. Gonzo is a huge grey and white tabby with startling turquoise eyes, who's soul aim in life is to eat and give lots of cuddles. He would preferably be better with an older person who really understands cats. I have tamed him from feral, have been feeding him for about six years, and this autumn he decided that he would like to move in,unfortunately,I already have five house cats and hubby has put his foot down,no more cats. Please,if you think that you have room in your heart for this big softy, would you give him the home that he needs. He gets on well with my other cats, even when they swear at him,and does only need a comfy settee or a lap to sleep on,PM me if you think you can help. While we are here,I also have a jet black half tame feral tom needing a home.He also sneaks in and curls up on my sofa.
  8. I have to thread myself between various cats curled up on my bed,so sleep wherever there is a space. Disturb them!! not a cat in hells chance.
  9. Hi Tracy, can't help with your family, but if you log onto Sheffield Indexers, or try Sheffield records Online (both free)there might be someone there who could help. Tell them any info that you have such as rough birth and marriage dates or years, maiden names ect. I Found my half brother after 40 yrs of searching so don't give up,and good luck.
  10. Fields and an old Victorian rubbish tip.
  11. We need more info to help. Rough birth and death, names of spouse and children, and area that his farm was supposed to be. I have some Mortons on my tree, from Norton if memory serves me well,if you have already posted any of this info, tell us where please. Have you tried Sheffield Indexers,or Sheffield records online? There are always people on there willing to help.
  12. I live near the shops on Northern Ave and the litter problem caused by Springs Academy students is horrendous. What I would like to know is,why are there students mooching around the shops at all hours of the day when they should be in school?
  13. Ordinary washing soda flushed down with boiling water does the trick. I do this once a week and my drains always smell clean.
  14. No 32 Rotherham bus drops you right outside the shop. You can catch this either outside Wilco's in the haymarket or in the bus station, runs every 20 mins. Alternatavely, the 51 drops you 100 yards away on East Bank Rd,supposed to run every 10 mins.
  15. Flood it. Being surrounded by hills,it would make a useful reservoir.
  16. A few weeks ago I emailed our local council about an unruly hedge that had not been trimmed for 9 yrs. Within a week workmen turned out and did the job and cleared up nicely. Well done Sheffield council:):):)
  17. It is a meteor shower, will last about two weeks, hope we get clear skies.
  18. 32 Rotherham bus takes you right past, every half hour from wilkinsons or the bus station.
  19. s2 even numbers Northern Ave cut from midnight to 9am then intermitant for rest of morning. Not good enough whoever is responsible!!!!
  20. It is not only neighbours, everywhere we go nowadays we have music imposed on us,ie in our surgery we have to listen to horrible lift music and when I complain am told that no one else has. After waiting in there listening to horrible music, squawking kids and having artificial light for twenty minutes or so,I always end up with a roaring migraine. Please, please, turn it off.
  21. Well,we don't have to listen, do we?
  22. We always have food out, primerally for stray cats, but have a family of foxes who help themselves. There has never been any sign of animosity between my four cats and them, indeed my cats are likely to chase them away if they(the foxes) try to monopolise the feed station. We buy large bags of chicken pieces fairly cheaply in the supermarket, but asBezzydan says,it would be even cheaper where he says. We are not trying to tame the foxes, just enjoy their company, and they are are not too reliant on us for food as the local cats have usually largely cleaned up most of it by the time the foxes arrive, and there is certainly never any left for rats, who would be very brave to come here amongst my cats.
  23. I have four cats and a leather suite, the cats have turned it into fuzz. Just cover it in big throws and learn to live with it,after all,it is probably just as comfy, and what means more,a posh house or your cats company?
