  2. My aunt used to work there and played football for neils nymphs which I have recently got some old photos of if anyone is interested
  3. UPDATE She has been allocated a place at Westbourne House Nursing home. The big meeting to discuss her care plan is tomorrow. Mum went and there was an activities board and they have a hairdressing visitor. Bottom line is mm was shown 2 places but only Westbourne House had a bed.So really, not alot of choice involved at all
  4. Thank you very much for your advice it is all valued. A nurse is taking my mum ( the 103 year old's daughter) to visit a couple of homes tomorrow. Then the big meeting on Tuesday. To be honest my grandma has been in hospital a few weeks now and for the very first time seems to have lost the will to go on. Before she went into hospital yes, she went to the hairdressers and luncheon club, she enjoyed her social life.It seems, sadly that she has given up.
  5. Thank you all. we have a meeting at the hospital on Tuesday to put a plan in place. ---------- Post added 21-02-2015 at 16:13 ---------- We have been told that it is a nursing home that she needs. Can anyone offer advice on that front?
  6. Thank you all for your input Kalms , I hope your dad makes a recovery. Posting this was one of the ways I thought I could get people's views good or bad. We certainly do not want to have the kind of experience that Kalms has had. A few years ago she was in hospital with a broken arm and the hospital transferred her to Beech house which is not a long term home but a sort of half way house to assess whether she was fit to be returned to her own home, which she was, with the carers visiting 4 times a day. We fully intend to turn up unannounced to some placed and see what our experiences are. Thanks again for your help.
  7. Thank you for your advice, she has been in her own home with carers visiting 4 times a day and family on tap also, but this has now been deemed unsuitable and that she needs 24 hour care.Currently she is in the Northern General but is convinced she is in the Half Moon Pub, bless her.
  8. I lived there for ten years and yet the council REFUSE to put traffic lights at that junction. It is an accident Blackspot
  9. My 103 year old grand mother is currently in hospital but as there is nothing seriously medically wrong with her, we have been advised to look for a care home for her. Does anyone have any positive /negative experiences, recommendations etc. We mostly live near the Littledale Estate off Prince of Wales Rd , so somewhere close by. (well we do drive, so within a sort of 15 minute drive) Thank you I am told that the Littledale care home is now closed and Hazledene is not an option as we have had experience of them.
  10. I'm the son of the owner of this account but would like to gain experience with anyone who photographs people for a living. Possibly a week or two observation and learning. Does anyone know anybody that does this? Or is anyone interested?
  11. doggiesinwonderland google it . Chris is brilliant Attercliffe dog traiing club is great too. Come a long way since the older days of a more rigid approach. Give them a try
  12. Good point thanks ---------- Post added 21-02-2014 at 21:37 ---------- Mmm privately owned but thanks, will consider ---------- Post added 21-02-2014 at 21:40 ---------- phlegm is a friend of son and he paid him to spray the wall about eight years ago. Paid him the cost of the paints. ---------- Post added 22-02-2014 at 16:07 ---------- Yes it is the same artist. I like the colours on that one
