Kelvinlad replied to myshellbell's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Chilling upstairs at the West End on Glossop Road, that is until I heard an unusual number of ambulances go past. I then switched on the tv to discover what was happening at Hillsborough. -
My aunt and uncle lived on Pickering Road and had a 12 inch Bush t.v. installed for the coronation. I remember watching the children's programme "All Your Own" with Huw Wheldon after the day's events.

I remember Beryl Shaw, she was a friend of my cousin Rita Yates who lived on Pickering Road. I think that Beryl lived at number 13. My cousin lived across the road at number 22. -

The customers allow it to continue as a viable business, if they all had a week off, perhaps the prices would become more realistic! -
Accessing Rudyard Road During Bus Gate Hours
Kelvinlad replied to Henrietta's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
You could go along Bradfield Road and turn left at Legends. Rudyard Road is then first left. You can do this any time of day or night. -
Neepsend lane - interested in it's history.
Kelvinlad replied to Jay69's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Part of the section between Rutland Road and Percy Street was single track because of the road width at that point. -

I remember seeing 'The Stirrings in Sheffield' there many years ago. One of the younger cast members was David Bradley.

I remember all those especially Mrs. Burke, plus Mr. Hughes, Mr. Carter, Mr. Cooil, Mr Popple, Miss Rowland. The only former classmate I've seen in recent years is Lewis Birks who played football for the school.

Are you Tony Royston who played cricket among other things? You were in the year above me. My surname is Yates.

I was there until 1958 when I moved to Chaucer for one term.
