  1. For anyone that’s still interested in the subject of Lees House , there’s a thread of several pages on Sheffield History site which you’ll find extremely interesting
  2. Well I truly can’t be a**^d anymore I was only replying to get my post count up . Ok children 1 2 3 … Hilarious leaving remarks time .. Bye See ya Dont let the door hit you on the way out Good Riddance Dont come back This forum , eh ??
  3. And so the clique sticks together, backs each other up with its snide little insults. I never personalised my posts . I just talked about types of people but that’s not how it works on here . Go off and have a little snigger together whilst you’re organising your next demo.about how hard done to you are and how it’s just not fair
  4. Hey ,chum Let your mate speak for herself She’s a big girl now So i joined 6 years after that so working at her pace I should be at least 10k and not 600+ However I don’t feel the need to bore people with my views on everything Hey ho .
  5. Damn I promised I wouldn’t contribute further to this thread but hey along comes ‘ an obstinate headstrong girl ‘ to dish out the very smart ass comments to which I dared to object 24 k posts ? Wow you’ve certainly got an opinion on just about everything that you feel we should all know about Well done you
  6. I read once that you can judge a society on how they treat their elders For centuries civilised people turned to their elders for advice. Obviously 5 years of internet wisdom has replaced it with those who shout the loudest
  7. You see Organgrinder you can talk sense and put forward a reasonable argument without patronising people and calling them liars . I won’t be around to join in but I think this is a better way forward for you It’s been fun
  8. I think you may find, chum , that there are some in this thread that have already respected my opinion Are you always so patronising ? I know one thing for certain you’ll make sure you’ll have the last word obviously this is intended for the organ grinder and not you Padders
  9. Sadly Padders you have to be one of the gang to know this stuff
  10. I never said you said that . I said people from your side of the argument say that Your version of the truth is absolute fact and your source is impeccable and everyone else’s source of news and opinion is full of lies and they’re all idiots. Go and play with your chums like the childish Butler
  11. No mate , I’m off I’m even been lulled into believing peoples posts are genuine and not trolling I’ll let the boys play their little games , snigger away and pat each other on the back
  12. Thank you Mr Bloke Ive been posting on here since 2011 and I’ve usually stuck to History and Expats cos invariably everyone is affable and just wants to reminisce When I’ve strayed onto the Discussion sections I’ve generally noticed cliques of posters who are totally opinionated and delight in making humiliating responses to others that don’t hold the same views. People should be allowed to express their views within reason without getting shouted down . If admit I made a post here that was a little OT but it was in reponse to being belittled. I think I’ll just stick to History and Expats in future PS Butlers. You’re such a wit Fantastic contribution
  13. It’s exactly this sort of arrogant belittling that keeps people off this forum. Enjoy your day . Incidentally , just looked at some of your other posts . You do get off on bullying other posters that don’t agree with you don’t you ? Sad
  14. To be honest I don’t know why I bothered i only normally use one section on this forum and it’s never this one . This same old little gang running the roost as always Cant wait till that fantastic Labour government sweeps into power next year and solves all the countries ills Oh hang on . It’ll still be ‘years and years of Tory misrule ‘for them to put right won’t it ? Incidentally, theres only one rabble running the country and it’s the Civil Service and the liberal intelligentsia not this government. See ya
  15. I voted for them . What I notice is the vitriol of people on your side of the argument that are quick to scream Tory Scum. The lefty Guardian reading superior’ I know better than you ‘ attitude is what permeates your party. It doesn’t remotely represent the working class like the Labour Party I grew up with. Why do you think people voted Brexit and voted them back in last time ? Simply because you use the same fear tactics that those who use the race card do . People don’t say they vote Tory cos they don’t want the grief from all the smug smartasses
  16. I’m 75 This city bears no resemblance to the one I grew up in . Anyone from our generation will tell you the same. Theyre scared to say on here why that is . What sort of country have we become when that’s the case ?
  17. Im sure it all changed with the introduction of First and Second Class Post . When I was a SubPostmaster it was always cheaper to send a greetings card abroad if it was unsealed
  18. Well I thought I’d give that video a view . Quite depressing sadly . It’s exactly the sort of thing the BBC turns out to rubbish our fond personal memories of those times by replacing them with those of people that maybe didn’t . Warm nostalgia for the old days has always to be tempered by the views of hindsight historians
  19. I believe Joni have now opened at this site. They also have a place at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet
  20. Well I’m 59 intake and I struggle to find any input re KES these days There’s a small handful from around that time but I think , sadly ,that you’ll find hardly any from 9 years before.
  21. Hi Long Ago . It wasn’t the use of the term bossy pants I was querying it was the existence of a specific cartoon character that I remembered from my comic reading days I’ve heard the term used countless times over the years . On reflection I think my dear partner would prefer to be bossy rather than baggy 😉
  22. Cheers , flanksy. That’s it definitely . Somewhere in my memory’ baggy ‘got turned to ‘bossy’. Bit of poetic licence on my part.
  23. For ages I’ve been calling my partner ‘ My pal bossy pants ‘ I’m convinced this was a character in a comic back in the 50s Ive googled it and can find no reference Does anyone else remember this ?
  24. I remember that shop well, it was in a row of temporary buildings I bought a purple , black and white striped mohair jumper from there early 60s No idea why I was shopping down there ,as I basically did all my clothes shopping at Harry Fenton’s on Chapel Walk My most extravagant Fenton’s purchase was a three quarter length blue suede coat with a blue leather collar. Cool or what ??
