It took me ages to track down La Cabina as an adult. I too saw it on telly as a young child and it stayed with me for years. It's every bit as good as you remember it, even though there's an element to it that only fully works once. It's name was lost to me and eventually, I couldn't work out whether or not it was a nightmare, a product of my febrile childhood imagination or an actual short film. One of the things that makes it so striking is the physical comedy. No more should be said.

Any folk music nights on wednesdays?

Sorry for late reply. Thanks, I'll check them out. -
It's good to know they sell Jaipur and not just the all-too-familiar Kingfisher and Cobra. I'd like an Indian restaurant that serves real ale on draught. I'm sure such a place must exist somewhere but I don't know of anything like that in Sheffield.

As the title suggests, are there any decent pubs with live folk music on the 8th of April?

When someone in the workplace is partially responsible for a fatal or near-fatal accident, is there a tradition of anonymously coercing them to take their drinks from a mug with an image of a skull on it?

... on Loxley Rd on such a blazing hot day, stopping the traffic (safely) exiting his car and dashing across the road with said protective millinery, thanks mate. I wasn't feeling so great before but that cheered me up.

Could anyone advise me on the the quietest time to see a film midweek, during the daytime, in school holidays?

There were a couple of songs where the banjo was distorted, the rhythm section were pounding away and there was a sort of folk punk feel. That's where the band brought something else to proceedings. Otherwise, they were a bit superfluous- not in a bad way, just in an inessential one. It's a minor criticism, they were good musicians and the harmony singers were suitably Vaudeville-unhinged. I wish I wasn't working next saturday evening, I'd go and see him again at The Hop in Wakefield. I hope the Institute has more gigs lined up, I'd definitely go back again. They didn't disappoint with the range of fine bottled ales! I was hoping Bob Log would be playing there but he's at the Corporation.

Anti-social shouty types are annoying at any age.

He was great wasn't he? He rocked the place like a, erm, turnstyle. I really liked the venue but like you say, I could have done with a bit more elbow room. His band were good but I'm not sure they really added much to what he does anyway, he gives a full enough experience on his own. At times they were even a bit of a distraction. Great night though

He certainly is, acrobatics, stories, humour and of course the music. He knows how to create a great atmosphere and send the audience home with a glow. I've only just realised he will have a band with him. I've only seen him once, at The Shakespeare but I'd happily see him play every week.

I've not been before either but I've read it can hold about 100 standing. it should be a good, intimate venue that'll suit what Curtis does. Have you seen him before? Bottled beer is fine as long as it's good bottled beer!

Has anyone here been to an evening event at this place? I'm going tonight and just wondering what it's like as a music venue, whether there's a bar and if so, what drinks are sold.

Thanks for the help there, brilliant information. I'll be sure to use those sites in future.
