I know this might be a none starter what with all the cuts to funding and everything but normally don't evening courses start up in September. Maybe you could pick something that you have always fancied doing and maybe meet lots of new people in the process. I know in the past I have seen booklets in the libraries with all the courses on offer listed -hopefully they will still run this year.

The sad thing is over the last few years the proms for school leavers have got more and more elaborate and expensive with prom dresses costing hundreds of pounds and limousines. The pressure on kids whose parents might be struggling financially must be immense. My friends niece had to pretend that she didn't want to go to hers because her parents couldn't afford the cost involved.

What do you think is an acceptable reason to have an abortion?
g.con replied to Amaranthus's topic in General Discussions
I don't think there is such a thing as a right or wrong reason. I am sure women don't make the decision to have an abortion lightly and she has to then live with that decision. -
I had all four of mine taken out recently at Charles Clifford Dental Hospital. They did two at one side first then about a month later I had the other side done. Before I went I was petrified but it was no where near as bad as I had imagined. I didn't feel a thing and afterwards I just had to swill my mouth with salt water and used over the counter pain killers for a couple of days but it was completely fine and I had no problems whatsoever.

Who should teach children to cross the road??
g.con replied to confusedmum's topic in General Discussions
As a parent of two little ones, I am constantly trying to make them aware of the world around them. I absolutely see it as my job to send my kids to school with the skills they will need to be safe and succeed. I think it's the parents' job first and foremost and then hopefully the school will re-enforce it. -
You have my sympathies because I have very noisy neighbours as well who seem to come alive when everybody else is going to bed. I use ear plugs and they do help a lot.

Youth screwed over by their elders and landlords whilst britain sinks
g.con replied to chem1st's topic in General Discussions
I think that the policy of selling off council houses has had a huge part to play in the lack of affordable housing for people to rent. There are also situations like the one in Hackenthorpe where council houses are being knocked down but not replaced. For people not in a position to buy it's a horrible situation but that is not just young people. Lots of older people are living in relative poverty as well. I think times are tough for lots of people. -

The wig stall in Crystal Peaks always seems to be there on Saturdays -
I can't stand Tom Cruise, for me he ruins every film he is in.

The Way - a quiet, low key film but very life affirming. 7/10

Small Restaurant to hire for the night?
g.con replied to lily1979's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I went to a private party in the Blue Moon cafe in town. I know it's not Italian but it was a lovely party and I think my friend was really pleased with all the arrangements and how it went. -
I find Facebook useful for keeping in touch with friends who don't live in Sheffield especially those who have moved abroad. I think if it becomes something negative in your life though you should maybe have a break from it.

Are they the ones now called Rise S12? If they are you can google it and it gives you loads of information about them. Don't know if that helps
