Purplething replied to Purplething's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I ended up going with Ecclesall garage. They were very thorough, down to earth and friendly and I was nicely surprised at the cost! I'd definitely recommend them!! -

Vantastic - I've checked some reviews for that place and there are quite a few against it. Maxxy - I can't find ANY reviews on Ecclesall Garage, but as people tend to complain and not praise, I'm looking at that positively. Its also within walking distance of my house, so its looking good so far, cheers. -
Garage in S11/Ecclesall Rd area?

Thanks, but I was hoping for somewhere a little closer to home, so I can leave my car and get home easily. Any other (more local) suggestions? If there aren't any decent ones nearby then I'll go further afield, but there must be something closer? -
Hi Could anyone recommend a garage around Ecclesall Road where I can get my small runabout serviced and MOT'd? I want somewhere I can trust, so tried and tested recommendations only please.

Ok, having read all of the above and done a bit of online research, I think I'm going to go with Peak Vets. I like their hours, the fact that they do their own out of hours emergency (Strix - you made a very good point!) and that they have a fully trained vet nurse living there. Thanks everyone!!

Thanks. I don't mind paying if the service it worth it, but if I can get the same/better service somewhere nearby then obviously thats what I'd prefer. The main thing though is that they care for my dog, which is more important than the cost. Can anyone expand on the above?

Hi We've just moved to the Hunters Bar area and need to find a new vets. Can anyone who has used the Hunters Bar vets let me know what they think? Thanks

If its any consolation, they haven't 'broken' in anywhere around here, just come in through open windows when people are out. I do share your concern, but I think if you're careful you don't need to worry! My post was mainly to make people aware so that they are careful!!

Theoretically, yes you should, but its easy to get complacent when where you're living feels very safe. Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I kind of expect burglars to work under cover of night, not be so blatant so early in the morning!! LadyB - I feel very sorry for that woman!!

There have been a few break ins recently in Hillsborough/Malin Bridge. It seems they are all during the day. One was between 9.15am and 11.30am while the couple were out (so it seems they had been watching them) and another broke in while he was in bed. They seem to be quite brazen, so make sure your windows are closed when you go out!!

Which Estate Agents should we use?
Purplething replied to Purplething's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
For some reason this post ended up being repeated on the general discussions thread as well, and got much more attention there. For info, I've discovered that Blundells charge a set rate but undervalue and Haybrooks overvalue but are what they call 'pro-active' but what I call aggressive!! They are quite sneaky too so I'd avoid them! We ended up with Reed Rains and haven't had any problems as yet...! Good luck! -
Best place to buy sushi ingredients in Sheffield
Purplething replied to WeX's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
There is no danger in eating raw fish - and sushi is sooo much better if you include it. Just make sure that the fish is very fresh and hasn't been frozen. Tuna should be red - if its started to turn brown it has to be cooked. We've made sushi with our 9 year old loads of times - be prepared for everything to take twice as long until you get used to it, but its loads of fun! -
Parking ticket I refuse to pay

Taking people to the small claims court is a waste of time. Even if you win, you still can't enforce payment without paying out even more on further fees, and there are still no guarantees.
