  1. The only wildlife-friendly solution is to pull them up. My lawn was the same, I got some chickens and they did the job for me, they ate all the weeds, every single buttercup etc was gone . Two chickens did 100m squared loan in about 2 weeks. If we was neighbours, I would let you borrow them.
  2. Hello, Does anyone have a gooseberry bush growing wild in the garden that they don't want? Can swap for a couple of strawberry plants if you like? cheers
  3. Hi, Where can I buy organic cabbage from in Sheffield? I've seen the odd organic veg in Lidl buy never cabbage. Thanks
  4. Manure contains high nitrogen which is great for leafy vegetables. If you want good root vegetables then use bone meal. It will double the size of carrots or even potatoes etc. I save all my chicken or beef bones after my meal and dry them out in my shed. April time I crush them and add it to the soil, In July i sprinkle bone meal round the base of the plants for a second feed.
  5. ahh that makes some sense, my neighbour walks his dog in the field opposite me where theres willow trees about. I bet the dog picked up a seed & planted it in my garden unknowingly??? Thanks!
  6. Hello Does anyone know what this tree is called that's started flowering (click link below) .... https://ibb.co/0B9Qsx4 It sprouted up on its own in my garden, I didn't want to kill it, so I put it in a pot & will plant it elsewhere some time. thanks
  7. I have about 5 baby plants sat in water ready to plan in to the soil, S5 8DL area. I don't get a notification on here whenever I am PM etc so be patient if I don't replay same day.
  8. Bottom line for this reason is cost, lawns are the cheaper than concrete, decking etc.
  9. Does anyone know where the best place to buy fragrant roses from? They are around £20 - £30 each on the websites, think it's a bit much if you want 10 of them? cheers
  10. I'm sure his back end is fine as many cats do the same as he does when enjoying being stroked, its just the hiss and attack that normal cats don't do afterwards. I don't pull away when he attacks, he will hiss, tap my hand and shoot off. He never hurts us or even scratch us, its like a warning like you guys have said. Come to think about it, he did start this behavior about 5 years ago when we introduced in a kitten, over the years became worse, but surely he would have gotten over this by now?
  11. Does anyone know why my gf cat likes to be stroked, but after the 2nd or 3rd stoke it growls & hiss then attacks you, he does this to anyone. He loves the first stroke, he will rub his head hard to your hand as you start to stroke him on his head & his tale goes up as you stroke down his back but then he gets angry, attacks you and then he runs off, why?
  12. I've had this, I stopped it by turning the supply tap to restrict the flow of water. Try turning it till the sound stops, don't turn it too much or you won't have much pressure in the cold tap.
  13. Apparently mushrooms/toadstools help plants feed from the soil more efficiently, therefore is not such a bad thing having them in the garden. They do prefer damp soil, cutting the trees would have caused the soil to stay wetter.
  14. You forgot to add "foreigner" to the list, a load of new houses have been build on the council estate near me, half of them cannot speak English. good luck to you
  15. Just up the road from there is Burngreave, it more or less the same area, I was almost mugged by 4 chaps, 3 of the guys were wearing balaclavas. Not a welcoming area if walking through after midnight!
  16. It would cost you a bit, something like that would need to be done live.
  17. Wind can go under the floor and up the chimney sometimes in to the living room. Also do you have a bathroom and kitchen fan, if so make sure they have a back draft shutter installed to stop wind from blowing in. I would use some smoke bombs on a windy day outside the house to see where its blowing through too.
  18. Correct, use 10mm cable instead when going between any insulation.
  19. There's lavender right on this spot in Meadowhall... https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/53%C2%B025'05.4%22N+1%C2%B024'27.0%22W/@53.4181668,-1.4080552,120m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d53.418166!4d-1.407508 you will need to zoom in to using the + to work out where it is exacly
  20. Its a currency, but instead of paper notes and coins etc, its computer based currency. Websites and other company's are starting to accept bitcoin. If only I had bought £100 worth last year, it would have been worth £350 today. If I bought them in 2013, it would be worth £3000 now.
  21. That's exactly what I had to do in my old job, for months and months I was writing documents explaining how to do my job for guys in India (alarm bells started ringing). I decided to go to collage at this time to learn and qualify as an electrician, it took me a few years and hard work but I got there and I'm now working as an electrician. The other guy who I worked with too had to write up documents like me, then he was made redundant a year after I left. All I can say is I wished I done it earlier
  22. I'm after some bitcoin, how much do you have??
  23. Might be a long shot but if you have kept the old mower, can your bloke swap the motor over if its identical?
