  1. i believe a pub could indeed say 'no whites' or 'no blacks' and do it legally, but i shouldnt think its windows would not be intact the next day... a certain car insurance company, says 'no men', (unfortunately, i dont know where its windows are, probably in india)
  2. s11 has plenty, i used to work for YW as a leakage detector and pressure reader, i was only the bottom person who just read them ,but theres only several areas that have crap water pressure in south yorks
  3. a good idea would be to publically insert the 'stolen item' up the criminals back side! this way, i believe ps2's would be safe. and certainly bikes.
  4. i've read most of the early postings on this thread...and just to change the subject slightly.. (BTW, i hope the young lady will be able to live some sort of life after this shocking crime) i noticed in the report in the star, that she and her friends had argued with her beforehand... and they parted... what can the other friends be thinking now?? i've obviously had arguments with my other half and that(like most couples i guess, one time or another), but i couldnt live with myself if the last words before she was attacked were harsh?!
  5. cant be bothered to read all the posts, but in my experience, car dealers like these, are more interested in finance and how much you can afford per month than selling you a quality car.... just my opinion (god help you if your car goes wrong)
  6. ive been there twice, 1st time, while extracting a tooth, the tooth, smashed/crumbled to bits, so they had to cut it out ..(yes, i laughed too) , wasnt their fault though, would have happened anywhere, and i felt no pain, (until the anasthestic wore off) i was Bingo calling at the time, (well after i left the hosp obviously) and i think i cried on stage!! 2nd time, was after i had another extraction (with me new dentist) that went wrong, and i lost the feeling on the left lower side of my face...i went straight to the top of the queue and saw the top man in the hosp and ..man they have some really good stuff there, way above your local dentist technology, and now i have about 80% feeling!! i recommend the place! (i dont eat sweets and i hate sugary stuff, my bad teeth must be in my gene pockets)
  7. What are the 17 quarters anyway that they have made up, i can only think of Cultural Industries and Devonshire Quarter.... on another note, can anyone remember the joke shop in the CIQ? it was on Howard St, before the flop 4 drums arrived... (rem that as a kid)
  8. if your lucky enough to get a council house/flat!!! i've being bidding for flats for 3 years, and not had 1 (one!) offer... i even wasted 3 bids one week on Burngreave and got no offers (no disrespect meant to any Burngreave forummers) i have no priority as i cant physically get pregnant, i was born here and my rented flat isnt going to get demolished (though it should be) (in this case, no disrespect to my landlord if he's a forummer(its lovely here really))
  9. AOL...lol i'll stick to Telewest, they only cut me off when im in the middle of something important, once a week. why is AOL so bad at everything online? isnt it an 'ONLINE ORIENTATED BUSINESS'??!!
  10. its there right now!!! have a listen outside your window!! its driving me mad! last summer it was tree cutters keeping me awake in the morning (i work evenings/nights), hence late online, this year i cant even blame anyone, cause i dont know what it is!!
  11. just out of interest.... when the (cough)'WORLD STUDENT GAMES' came to Sheff, we were told it was 2nd after the Olympics..... can anyone tell me if it's still going? ive heard nothing of it since then?? come to that...i'd not heard of it before either... mmm...suspects that they saw us coming
  12. ok, before I get a pile of replies saying im going mad, i dont think this is the case.... the last 2 days and nights, there has been a noise (i'm around the bottom of Springvale, for anyone near) that kept me awake last night and looks set to do the same tonight!!!... it's a difficult sound to describe, it's similar to someone 'running their finger' over the top of a glass, but a much lower tone....almost like a loud turbine, but a long way away.... (this isnt a wind up by the way, i am serious) .. before anyone says 'it's probably a loud turbine a long way away'....well it could be, but i've lived here 2 years, and it only started last night... anyone close heard it???
  13. hope tht helped, although i probably made a mess of the quote!
  14. (i dont actually, obviously, but i thought i'd throw a spanner in the works)
  15. summat to do with java settings i think...
  16. wow, i thought i'd be the only responder to this thread, next time i go, will have to put a thread up, for advice on best places to go, i wasted the 1st night there, wandering around aimlessly (enjoyed it though) have a look at this site for seamless cameras,, http://nyctmc.org/xmanhattan.asp# i found it just after i got back, and i still look now to see life in the mad place
  17. shame it shut, they had a couple of dishy staff when i used to pick up there as a taxi driver
  18. lock your doors when the fair arrives, not to point blame at the fair owners, people used to blame them, for burglaries in the area and that, but i think now, its that fairs just encourage tosspots to the area. As always, i dont like to be controversial.
  19. walking through is a different matter when drunk, i dont care where i walk when drunk, sober however, i wouldnt. too many "yo yo , what yo upto, type stuff" happenin
  20. ...also, shame your an owl, but i would have said hi should i have seen you in a blue and white top (my brother is an owl, and i went with him)
  21. i went last year, everyone told me it was gonna be like london.. not likely! what a place, unbelievable till youve seen with your own eyes, i only stayed 3 nights, definately gonna go back... the empire state building didnt seem very big from the ground, but enormous from the top, did you find? i agree, with the central park, the site of greenery, with perfect towers all in a line around it, can only be appreciated with your own eyes.. the grid system sounds boring to most people (and me before i went), but you can just never get lost! did you try a taxi late at night? i'm a cabbie , but can only discribe their taxis as being in line with some of the rides at Alton Towers! i also recommend the place as you can see, but doubt this thread will get many replies
  22. car park definately best idea, then they could open the bus lane earlier, as turned down this week.
  23. wrong!!!!! most taxi drivers are asian, and when jobs say something like "customer name-...ali" most asian drivers knock them back, saying "i know him , that'll be a freeby" trust me, i'm right!
  24. PM me please with who he is, he will know me if he works nights, i'm ash (number one despatcher) "abrubt office staff" ??? all calls are recorded , so if someone has been abrubt, report them! i find that the staff are as honest as can be in any taxi company, we make estimate times, and more often than not, there pretty good estimates, but sometimes a driver will knock a job, when weve told them its on its way, thats where people are waiting.... as for longest way round...., if a driver takes you the long way round, ask him to ask the despatcher for a quote, and despatcher will tell you the price over the radio, mistakes happen, ive taken people in my taxi, and theyve said ive taken them the long way round, and sometimes i realise that there may have been a shorter route, and compromise, its very rarely deliberate.. ash
