With thousands of replies, I'm sure someone has said it, maybe even me. I don't get all this. I thought Harry and Megan wanted a quiet life. Since then, appear on biggest TV shows, on Netflix or whatever it is on, talking about their lives, and books. They couldn't be more in the spotlight it they tried! Every time I turn on the radio or news,. Harry this , Harry that. Must admit, I used to think he was alright, but it's doing my t!ts in now!

Should We Forgive People Who Gave Cheap Christmas Presents?
*_ash_* replied to rogets's topic in General Discussions
You obviously haven't been out for a while. On Xmas eve, one round was just short of a tenner, and there was only 2 of us drinking pints! How many is we btw? -
Plenty of countries in the world. Currently costs about £50,000 a year on average per prisoner. Find a country that's willing to accept £25,000 per prisoner and saved the government half the budget on these prisoners (minus flying costs). Of course it can't happen because of human rights laws, but if not for that, I'm sure it would be possible. It wouldn't deter crime though, much. Murderers still murdered knowing they would get hung here!

Absolutey, 100%. For me (personally), I find some religions are completely selfish in this respect. They're happy to have a transplant to save their lives, but unwilling to help save others with their bodies. Although probably no one would want my lungs/heart etc. because I smoke, I want my eyes to be used to practice new methods of helping blind people.

They might find out when they try and build a conservatory I agree. I think if people have bought a plot. then allow it, but certainly no more cemeteries. Why should someone who is dead have a piece of land forever. The only downside is that people will complain that 'only the rich can afford it'.

Do You Think Sheffield's Identity Has Changed?
*_ash_* replied to shannon.g's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I've numbered these. 1. Some positives and negatives with this. International students are a good thing, as they bring jobs to the city. Some areas aren't like that though. 2. Town has been overrun with druggies, and really just undoes all the positive attempts to make the city centre better. Student apartments fill up, so it's supply and demand. If they are full, then more are needed, and brings work to the city too. 3. Can't argue with driving nightmare. Google maps doesn't keep up with the changes. Where else research? I'm not sure if joke or not. But unless the title of the thread is 'How does living in Sheffield compare with living in Ukraine?' , I think the comment isn't relevant. Who gives them permission to build them? No it isn't. That's just exaggerating with nonsense. The council could easily only grant permission for a new build if it's in line with their own prices, or a percentage more. Surely, the council want to encourage people to come to the city (or not as it seems). -

1. 3 words, so will make up some words Safe-ish, friendly-ish, hilly/ 2. No. 3. Some of the old industrial buildings that have been saved. 4. A little, but mainly because I was born here, and know my way around. -

Funny... if you have to dodge people in town, you need to lay off the mince pies We'll agree to disagree. Though, I know I'm right -

I'd love you to go to all the pubs/restaurants/takeaways and other businesses that are struggling, with a banner saying that. -

Christ almight indeed!! A city that is dead on what was one of the busiest nights of the week, and no work. And this is BEFORE a new tax. How is £10 tax extra going to build the economy, pray tell?! You know where this money will come from. Taxis will put fares up. Less people go out. Fewer pubs and restaurant customers. Already many people are skint or trying to cut back... You have your economy ideas, mine are different. I'll agree to disagree with your economics ideas. -

I've cross-posted with you... but you still don't get it. It's not worth trying to discuss with people who have no idea. Some nights (like last night) I would go out to work, and expect to earn some decent money, and sometimes only take £20, £30. Now, have to pay £10 out of that. Can you not see it? Whatever job you do, how would you feel if you do a shift at work and 1/3rd of it was taken by a pointless tax? When you aren't driving, you aren't earning, and don't give me the line about ''all taxis sit all day with their engines running'', because let me tell you, that is complete nonsense. -

See my earlier post about bad economy (bad economy means people aren't spending money going out, which is the point), and now, drivers like the poster I quoted have pay an extra £10 to work in the bad economy. I realise why you people don't understand obviously, but I try to point things out. -

If I order a taxi from West Street to Broomhill, it won't be in the zone? Of course it will. And thinking that one can work in a taxi and avoid using the ringroad is nonsense. Surely you can understand that? -

We walked to Broomhill. Broomhill is normally heaving on CEve. Didn't see a single person walking from West St to Broomhill. And after 9pm, 1 person in the pub. -

I've long since learned, that you are wasting your time educating people in here. I did actually go out last night (CEve), because it's a rare chance I see my brother. Town was dead. The pub I went to was dead. Drivers in the taxi group said work was dead. Now you'll pay £10 for the pleasure of working in a dead city and a dead economy. One guy (I'm sure you'll have seen in you're in the facebook group, had the pleasure of going to an address where all his windows were put through with bricks. Still, people like the next poster, couldn't give a s**t and continue the old crap lines... Happy Christmas. I hope you lose your income in 2023. w@nker -
What about the EU, as that was your first point? Is it OK to poach doctors from EU countries?
-
happened for decades. Neither Labour or Tory have the balls to deal with it. Another issue with this country. Tiptoeing.
-
What a nonsense post. You ask a question, then blast your personal views without waiting for an answer first. This type of argument was worked out as logical nonsense over 2000 years ago.
-
Whether it's slave labour or not, we can't control other countries. Do you think England is the be all and end all of good decisions?
-
Why would a well trained doctor from the EU want to come to the UK? - I mean even before brexit. African doctors, wow, that's got an element of we're better than anyone type post. Surprised to see you write that nonsense. How about looking at India. Soon to be the most populated country in the world and has excellent medical schools. Though, I still don't like this idea of removing highly skilled people from poorer countries.

underlined: Why is U-turn now a dirty word? Something doesn't work you change it. That's how I live my life. bold: Who caused the damage? If the government had to pay the bill, for rioting and looting, then there is a problem. 'Reduced' to working in supper markets [sic]. What's wrong with working in a supermarket? How disrespectful can you be to hundreds of thousands of supermarket workers. I worked in one, and the lifting involved shagged my back up. The rough men who did these jobs didn't lose their jobs because of Thatcher, they lost them because they wanted (rightly) good money, but were competing with countries who produced better stuff at a fraction of the price.

But if the vote didn't go your way (whichever it is), you, or these people will just claim it's not fair vote, or papers swayed votes. - On another note I saw a post mentioning 'true democracy' It's all the same thing. democracy is crap when the things aren't to your liking. Maybe a true democracy would be where everyone votes on everything, and government doesn't exist? I couldn't it lasting as not enough people understand how money works and is spent. It would almost certainly end up with everyone voting to get all the money from the rich and give it to the poor. It sounds good, but wouldn't last long. --- just to add, I don't have the answers, before anyone says that I have. I do have ideas, like everyone does. My alternative is coalition governments in the short term. But, I will discredit people who say something must change but don't offer alternatives.
