This message is not related directly to the garages but last year I kept reporting anti social behaviour which was taking place at a derelict council building near my house on the 101 system. I also emailed my local councillor. Eventually the building was demolished. It did take a while but it did happen.

I must say that the councillor was excellent and worked hard for this to happen.

Morning Sheffield Monks, well some good news I have seen the council have been out this morning to look at them so hopefully we will see some sort of action... just feels exasperating continually having to chase them to do the simplest of tasks. They empty one garage out of four full of rubbish and leave and you don't see them again and then leave flytipped rubbish even though they can see it at the side of the garages.  I liken this to trying to get a teenager to complete chores in the house, they only do half the job and have to called the back to complete it.

Hi, that's a coincidence as they are the ones I reported as well.  I don't live round there but my daughter does and the garages are an absolute disgrace.  I will certainly keep on at the council to do something about them.  My daughter only moved onto the Close a couple of months ago and we've seen people dumping rubbish and there's always lads hanging around in the empty garages.  There's also loads of litter along the walkways to the houses and we've picked loads of it up.  It would look much nicer without the garages and the rubbish all cleared.  It's unbelievable when there's a tip around the corner.  It's good to hear from people that still have some respect for the area they live in.

Indeed they are an eyesore, I have had an email back from Paul Turpin (Councillor) and he has chased up housing officers to help try and get this resolved but it is looking like it is going to be a long road at this rate, both myself and next door are onto Sheffield Council to get this resolved.  I am hoping there is force in numbers with this situation.  I shall keep up the fight 😃

Hi, just yesterday I reported some garages that sound exactly the same, waiting to hear back from the council.  What area do you live in? Just wondered if by chance they might be the same garages.

    Morning Kate,

These are on  Overend... I have yesterday taken Planner1  advise and emailed all three Councillors in the hope of some action, my neighbour is doing the very same.

  4. Hi all, I am hoping for a little advice or if anybody has had some experience dealing with Sheffield Council and the demolition of derelict garages.  We have a row of garages that are all vacant and disused, they are in such poor condition. Some with doors hanging off, some with smashed up boards on the front and some full of rubbish from that people who cannot be bothered to use the tip and have utilised to get rid of their rubbish.   These garages also bring with them anti social behaviour.  I have reported to Sheffield Council a number of times about how unsafe these garages are and how much of an eye sore it is to look out of your window and see this. It seems they simply do not care and tell me they are marked to be demolished and likely be 12 -18 months time.  Living around this has become miserable, has anybody had any success or advice on how we can get Sheffield Council to act appropriately  and get these demolished any quicker.  🥺

  5. I was sat thinking how a lot of us have thoughts on how we would like changes in either the city as a whole or maybe our local area but not sure how to do this or get an idea heard,  I thought maybe a thread where we could suggest ideas which are realistic to improve our local area's or city? who knows maybe somebody with some influence may read the ideas and take your idea forward.. 🤷‍♂️

We have a new set of buses in Sheffield now,and instead of improving the relibilty of or bus services it getting Worse,Drivers can not keep up to date with there times, and are making people late for work or late getting home,Drivers can get away with being late as there is nobody checking if late regulary,Stage Coach use to be reliable but there Number 2 or Number 1 Buses have got really bad and so unreliable and the First 1a buses is the same,Why?can"t something be done to Charge the Drivers if they are late and Improve our Bus services in Sheffield, you can never plan a trip now in Sheffield with our buses so unreliable

Drivers are tracked so the traffic department know exactly where they are and how late that bus is, the driver has no influence on morning rush hour traffic nor do they have influence on accidents that happen on their route.  It is down to the traffic team to keep the buses running ontime.  Charging a driver to be ontime would result in more accidents due to them trying to stay ontime, I guess that is okay though as long as you get to work ontime or home for your dinner.  Daily driver are physically and verbally abused, threatened with violence usually due to circumstances that they can not control. So maybe before you launch a ridiculous post about late drivers and how poorly they keep to time you may want to look at the depot not the driver.

  7. I've no objection to the majority of these off road bikers as long as they do it sensibly and above all safely. like anyone else though once they have been at it for a couple of hours collectively in one place then that is enough for the day.

As for engaging the police in matters like this you need to find a celebrity copper, you can easily spot them because they are willing to nick anyone for anything whilst the TV camera is recording people who have not yet been charged and convicted without obtaining their consent to either film them or show that film to others.

Let me guess you don't live next to any woodland do you... couple of hours of bikes tearing up the woods... I personally will not tolerate that long. I remember years ago taking my eldest for a walk in the woods... would I now? no... why? because when the bikes and quads arrive they could not care less if a 5 year old is playing and runs in front of them. No respect left in this world for others... you are right involving the police is a waste as much as the officers may wish to police, the softy softy world we live in wont allow it.

  8. If you or your child were desperate for a pee in town and couldn't find a public toilet what would you do?

Let him or yourself wet yourselves or find a quiet spot and pee up against a wall?

    I know what I'd do.

Petition the council to provide facilities.

Really??? is there not a toilet in Wilkinsons, Hen and Chickens, Subway, Slot machine shop?? the list would go on but seems pointless. I do not think we have a shortage of toilets in town. We have a shortage of people respecting our town centre.

  9. Walked down the other weekend with my family and was disgusted by the smell of urine.. who are these dirty animals peeing against the waĺls in town? And more importantly why are the council not maintaining the cleanliness of our city centre..? I am guessing now the moor is a more attractive area they are happy to leave the other end of town turn into a unhygenic hovel. Kept my little boy well away from the walls!

  10. I'm curious as to why someone from such a beautiful island as Jersey would be doing living in the city of Sheffield, worlds apart I would have thought.

    Regards,

    Duffems

  11. well she was definitely interested during the date.

She couldn't stop touching me or complimenting me.

she even said she wants her her future children to look like me.

she laid on top of me, and responded well to my flirting.

    wanted me to touch her

Lets say the drink made her feel comfortable.

the next day I asked her on a other date, she was like only as friends.

so mixed signals for some reason

  12. What Sheffield needs is people who sell tickets in advance at busy busstops. It can take upto a minute per person for a driver to sort the fares.

Dutch buses have a door in the middle where passengers can get in as well and then swipe a oyster like card to pay. That increases capacity, Sheffield is not intelligent enough to have buses with two entrance doors on busy routes and rather takes twice as long to get everyone on..

It is a good idea to have the extra person (I have seen stage coach do this on some routes) but how is this to be funded and how do you decide which bus stops are busy? I would imagine that the funding could only come from a rise in fares and that the bus stops that are busy will differ depending on the time of day ETC

I wouldn't say that Sheffield isn't intelligent enough to have 2 entrance doors on busy routes, rather that it doesn't yet have an oyster card style system that enable people to pay for travel without going to the driver. Unfortunately getting an oyster card system that works on all buses, trams and trains in South Yorkshire would be expensive and someone has to pay for it. In the mean time we now have the mobile phone ticketing system, which has the added advantage of forcing people to stop having their conversation to show the bus driver their ticket instead of doing the mobile phone to the shoulder, wallet/purse dance when they get on the bus

I agree in theory a ticket person at a busy stop sounds great but a security risk as the person giving tickets would be carrying a good wedge of money on them, we all know only to well that there are some horrid individuals out there that would not hesitate to attack for money.

I do find the tram is a more pleasurable experience than sharing a bus in close proximity to somebody that has forgotten to have a wash this week...
