  1. Yeah it's uni of Sheffield I need to get to. Sounds like it will take 35 mins or so, including the walk. Still a bit quicker but not as quick as I'd like. The alternative is to move somewhere near a tram stop but I'm not having any luck so far with finding an area we like that we can afford but is not just a big housing estate. I'm probably being too picky.
  2. Hi, we're thinking of moving to Norton Lees as we've just had a baby and I wanted to be a bit closer to work (Uni). We currently live in Deepcar and it takes me about 50mins door to door by public transport. Does anyone travel from Norton lees to the uni area by public transport every day and if so, roughly how long does it take? I'm worried about moving there and having the additional problem of getting stuck in traffic everyday which would make the move a bit pointless! Thanks
  3. Bolsterstone is beautiful, would love to live there. You have the advantage of being close (5 mins driving) to the shops at Stocksbridge for all the essentials too while feeling like you live in the peaceful countryside. We are not from the area but live in nearby Deepcar and although there's the odd rough pub in Stocksbridge it's generally a nice community with a mxture of people. It did have a reputation of being unfriendly to 'outsiders' but plenty of people have moved out there as it's one of the better areas where you get good value for money housewise (with it being a bit away from the city). The only thing we miss is having a decent restaurant/takeaway nearby -unless someone can recommend one locally?

  12. She is not allowed a mortgage in the UK unless she is resident here, she is thinking of buying an investment property/something to come back to when she eventually moves back but apparently no-one offers mortgages anymore to expats.
  13. But it's not a c/o delivery address, she is saying it's her home address and he's wondering if it will affect him as it's a council house
  14. I think it's a bit more complicated as she has not lived at home for many years and has since had many homes in the uk. She has now lived abroad for several years and now is telling her bank (or one of her banks) that her home address is at her dad's council house in the uk. I've been told she's doing this so she can get a mortgage back in the uk if she wants to move back (expats apparently can't do that unless they already live in the uk).
