and you could make the same point about cigarettes and alcohol - it all comes at a cost to the NHS and taxpayer. -
Takeaways, chip shops, coffee shops etc..responsible for obesity?
Glennis replied to rogets's topic in General Discussions
I don't really think obesity can be blamed on the good old fish and chip shop, as there were many more of these around in the 50s/60s and people were much fitter then. But, if you look at the access we have to the takeaway food that's available 24/7 - that might be a factor, along with too much sugar in our diet and lack of exercise due to changing lifestyles and mod cons, which people didn't use years ago you might be getting nearer the real issue. I wouldn't want some fish and chip shop owner telling me I couldn't have my favorite dish, especially as I have been probably gagging for it for the last two hours. ---------- Post added 30-09-2016 at 10:46 ---------- While at the same time refusing to regulate how much-hidden sugar manufacturers put in their products. -
You will be getting on a buzz then? Or having a cup of tae?

I wonder if I can carry my knitting needles in public? I suppose anything could be a weapon if you really thought about it.

They last longer than Amey Tarmac for a start -
Sandwich maker, lawn mower - I haven't got a lawn yet, omelette maker, garden planter, two pairs of curtains, two window blinds, bookcase - books are still on the floor, air cooker, hot air fryer, two rugs - still rolled up under the bed, loads of fabric to make a quilt and three books explaining how I go about it, two 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles
-
I have to convert between the two when buying curtains especially. I can do feet and inches to metres and centimeters, but I cannot seem to get my brain around weight and liquids. I know I am old and funny.

There is litter everywhere you look in Sheffield - some of our citizens are quite disgusting, it needs clamping down on. -

Well, it makes a change from Gleadless Valley hogging all the headlines. -
I haven't looked at it that closely, but I hope Debenhams smartens itself up a bit, this building does nothing to improve the look of the Moor - it's shabby inside and out.
