I got a 6 tonne skip from KCM in Rotherham, it was £120

Yep same here, I recently sold a property through hatched. They are easy to contact, helpful and friendly. You receive good information about viewings / offers and they make it easy to arrange viewings. The only thing you really miss out on is adverts in shop windows and newspapers but I would say the majority of people looking for a new home would be looking online nowadays anyway. Go for it.

Bay Window Refelting and possibly Reflashing
bigmanols replied to bigmanols's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Appreciate all the responses, thanks everyone! -
Hello All I am in the process of buying a house and there has been a water leak on the rear bay window, I think this is do to it needing refelting and / or reflashing. Anybody had this done or got an idea of how much it might cost to get this done? I'm not sure of the measurements of the bay but it's fairly small. Cheers

Consider an online agent, they use all the big property websites and charge a fraction of the price of the high street agents. I would recommend hatched, I have used them they have been very helpful

I have had a 90% LTV mortgage with first direct accepted last week, they have competitive rates but also you can make unlimited overpayments. This can reduce the time you pay back the mortgage and interest you will pay drastically.

How much % of asking price to start an offer?
bigmanols replied to h2o1's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Depends on a number of variables, I would find out how long it has been on the market and try and find out from the agent if there has been much interest, any offers and how keen they are to sell. If there havent been many viewings and the place has been on the market for a while make a cheeky offer, they can only say no. And that way you will be able to gauge how much they are really wanting. -

Recommend an architect MEGATHREAD
bigmanols replied to Twitcher's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Hello All I have recently viewed a property which has the bathroom through one of the bedrooms. We have some ideas for changing the layout so you can access the bathroom without going through the bedroom. Has anyone got experience of taking a builder / architect with them on a viewing to get a free consultation / quote? I have never done this before and don't want to commit to the property before I know we can make the changes we want to. Thanks -
I lived in Clifton growing up for over ten years, yes it is on the cusp of a couple of unsavoury areas but you don't get too many shady characters around tbh and it is fairly quiet. If this is something that bothers you why not consider Broom, its not far from Clifton, easily accessible to town not near any dodgy areas and there seems to be quite a few properties for sale atm although I don't know what your budget is.

Thinking of starting an alternative music night
bigmanols replied to bigmanols's topic in Going out in Sheffield
Hahaha, timeless classics. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and advice! Just to let people know I have been in touch with the management at the Royal Standard and will be going down this Thursday to try and learn about the mixing desk and how sound is hooked up etc so hopefully I will be able to have a night going maybe beginning of next year if things go to plan. I will keep you posted and you can all come down to freak out to some good tunes! -
Clifton in Rotherham?

Hi, we are looking to start a new band in sheffield. Already have a bassist and a guitarist / singer so are looking for a drums, synth / keyboard and possibly another guitarist. We are interested in exploring different guitar effects and experimenting with different distortion. Think TOY, The Horrors, My Bloody Valentine. We are influenced by the above bands and also pshycedelia and a bit of post punk. Not very experienced but want to get together with some like minded people and write some songs and experiment with different sounds and see what we can come up with. Hoping to play some gigs in the near future if material is there. We are both 22 years old so preferably looking for people a similar age who are interested in trying new stuff and having a good laugh! Give us a shout if you think it's up your street! Cheers Ols & Evo

Thinking of starting an alternative music night

Hahaha had the feeling you thought I was older Ye I think once I get something sorted word of mouth will be a big factor in keeping it going, and I think I can manage that. We shall see! 40 something's always welcome though ;-) -

I don't know how important mixing will be with the sort of music I want to play but I am going to try and get familiar with it so I am prepared. Btw I am 22, don't know how old you are jake? I understand it won't be the most popular night with students but would hope I would be able to get plenty through the door. I was thinking I would probably only be able to get a weekday night at first and hopefully build reputation from there but maybe it would be possible to get a Friday or Saturday and appeal to a wider range of people / age groups -

Thanks again for some more very useful advice! I have been looking at soundcards so I knew I would need one but have not purchased yet, I think before I actually find a venue I should do some work on trying to master the djing side of things so I don't look like a tool if things mess up! If anyone would like to volunteer to show me the ropes of using a mixer that would be greatly appreciated -

Thanks for the positivity Bilge! Ye i definitely agree with you there, lacking somewhere that plays a mix of good music in a chillied out atmosphere where you can meet like minded people and know you can go every week/ month whatever and hear some tunes you like. Had enough hearing the same old stuff -

the_wicker, thanks a lot for that reply very helpful and informative! I realise I will probably have to start off somewhere away from the usual west street / division street, a place I had in mind is dada on trippets lane. I have a MacBook with a pretty good djing app which I was considering using do you think this would be suitable? And what you said about having a group of friends that will come down at first is something that is possible and thought would help. I 'm not looking to make a ton of cash but obviously it would need to be popular enough to continue I think I will start putting the feelers out, like you say I can only get knocked back! I think social media could come in handy and obviously posters / flyers, I think the main issue will be getting the people who would be into the music to know that the night is on and get them though the door Thanks again
