Seen they have started renovation work on the crossfield tavern at high green, but can't details of whether it is going to remain as a pub or not. Any info/ links appreciated.

Can't believe people want to eat in there???? Lovely little cafe across the road from it called Lunchbreak, does lovely home cooked grub.
Â
Maybe given Chaps best secret away there!

Question for a plumber.
Â
Our loo cistern seems to have a "dripping" noise all the time and sometimes see drips of water going into the loo itself.
Â
In addition, once it's flushed, it doesn't always start to refill, as though something is getting stuck.
Â
Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated?

Just come through Chap......pretty apocalyptic. 2 Fire Engines, 4 police cars, an ambulance and the air ambulance knocking around.
Â
I've heard the rumours about what has happened, but not one for spreading stories.
Â
It's very busy down there, avoid it if you can for next hour.

Stanley, our Border T, had similar digestive issues at around 1 year old. We tried a number of "wet" and "dry" foods as well as combining.
Â
Eventually our vet told us to stick with Chappie tinned. Not had any problems since in last 3 years (unless you count the balloon he ate!)
Â
Chappie tinned and a couple of gravy bones!

Thanks very much all for the responses, much apreciated.

New laptop required for my soon to be 12 year old.
Â
Would mainly use it for watching You Tube/minecraft and hopefully his homework topics.
Â
Basically I don't have a clue and some pointers would be appreciated. Maximum budget £300, and bigger screen the better.
Â
Any useful advice much appreciated,
Â
PS Google Chromebook any good???

Paces at High Green is on tomorrow- hard standing, opens around 8am

Flying Dragon in Ecco village shops
-
Try Pickfords in Rotherham.
Â
Huge range, only a little shop but it's like the Tardis!
-
Oughtibridge- nice village feel to it, but not close to motorway link, and always succeptable to flooding!
-
Grew up in Grenoside, nice village although has expanded a lot over the last 10/15 years. Still holds it's village appeal in the top half of the village near the Old Harrow and Angel pubs, and it has an award winning chippy.
Â
The primary school is well regarded and has recently been rebuilt.
Â
Good transport links into Sheffield and it sits on the main road out of the North of Sheffield. Close to lots of woodland.
Â
Thurgoland is a lot smaller in comparison and relatively in the middle of nowhere. Always struck me as a mice place to live. In the countryside.
Â
Can't comment on Wharncliffe Side.
Â
You might also want to consider Burncross and Oxspring. Also Thorpe Hesley.
Â
Hope that helps

Mountbatten Drive in Burncross. The "filler in" men are on that street right now filling in the pot holes that were "yellow marked" 4 months ago.
Â
Unfortunately they filling in the newer pot holes that have appeared in that 4 month period..........
Â
Excellent work!

The Acorn and The Crown and Cushion both lovely pubs in chapeltown, there should be more like them, serve lovely food and family friendly... All pubs should be like this! let the louts go and drink in town with the rest of the unsightly folk.Â
Sssshhhh....both are in burncross, not chap!

Around 1993 ish, we did the following in a Land Rover Disco- me and 2 mates.
Â
Ferry from Dover to Calais. Then out round Paris ring road to La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Toulouse. Then through Pyrennes to Barcelona.
Â
Stopped in 2 areas on that coat. La Pineda which was only a small town then, and had built up a bit since because of the adventure park down there. We had 3 days camping there and loved it. Then on to a small town near the border back into France called L'Escala. Several camp sites in that area and again we had a great time.
Â
We then travelled through Montpellier, Marseille, Cannes, St Tropez, Monte Carlo/Monaco, up through Turin, back through the Alps to Geneva, Chamonix, up through Belgium to Metz and back to Calais.
Â
3500 miles in 2 weeks. Fantastic holiday.
Â
Basically there are loads of camp sites on the coast between Barcelona and the French border. We didn't book anything in advance and always managed to get a pitch on a site.
Â
On the way back up to Calais, the weather turned against us, so we stopped a couple of nights in cheap motels (Camponille type places)

Hope Valley on every Sunday up to October ish. Usually £5 to stand. Lovely car boot.

To be fair to Jim he said he did not want to manage this thread again this year due to other commitments. However the mod's ignored the offer made to take it over by someone who would keep it up to date and take the pressure off Jim. Still doing a stirling job tho Jim!Â
Â
Â
Thanks chuck!
Â
Front page updated!
Â
Apologies about Thorpe- they were on there previously, I must have deleted them in error, but they are now back on!
-
It would be really useful to me if we could have the dates for the Hillsborough Arena and Thorpe Hesley boot sales and one or two others added to the first page, please. I am fairly sure they have been posted somewhere in the thread, but I can't find them each week when I want to look them up. Hillsborough Arena still says finished for 2011 - lol.Â
Hillsborough added
Â
Thorpe have been on the front page for a good few weeks.
Â
What are the "one or two" others?
-
Cheers. Not a name I remember, but I was only 15 when I started playing for them and was just a "yoof" then. There's an article about it in the "Look Local" paper this week.
Â
Think as a club they were always based North Sheffield but attracted players from all over South Yorkshire. I know we had 3 or 4 lads from Rotherham come and play at one time.

Famous old Sheffield footbal team, Morton Villa. Founded in 1953 and eventually folded in 1996.
Â
I played there at Greno Park from 1985- 1988 when it was run by Derek Fielding.
Â
They are holding a reuinion for all ex-players/members on September 20th at Tankersley Golf Club.
Â
I'm nothing to do with the arranging of it, but have contact numbers for the people who are.
Â
Anyone else play for them?

Â

Â
Let me know!!!
