  1. It was sold a little while ago. http://www.pugh-auctions.com/Lot/Manchester/20160609/104 Looks like the area covers the footpath to the steps next to the factory and the Birley Colliery stone. I hope Stone Lane doesn't get too much traffic. It's lovely and quiet at the moment.
  2. Looking for a mobile hairdresser to cut my Mum and Dad's hair S12 near Crystal Peaks before next weekend. Please pm details and my Mum will give you a call asap.
  3. Shirebrook's just off the A57 between Woodhouse S13 and Hackenthorpe S12. I think the official address is Stone Lane, S13 and I found him near the factory right at the end of Stone Lane. Thanks for the facebook stuff. I know loads of people will see it on there. I have put his details on Doglost and got a call this afternoon. Unfortunately it didn't sound like the same dog but hopefully someone is looking for this boy too.
  4. Took him to the pound and he did perk up a little when he got out of the car. Once we were in reception he began to walk in circles again but went off with the girls without a problem. He weed in the crate at my house and in my Sister's car so she's not best pleased with me and she wanted to be as quick as possible so I didn't manage to get him scanned first I felt terrible handing him over especially so close to losing my own oldie but the girls there are so nice and I'm sure they'll do their best with him.
  5. Found an old entire male crossbreed on Shirebrook this morning. He looks like a jack russell cross. He's mostly white with a dark (well grey) almost fox terrier head and a long tail. He looked like he'd been out all night and was very cold with sore paws and has very little sight. I was hoping to keep him here over the weekend but he's very grumpy with my puppy and is howling in the crate so I'm afraid I'll have to take him to the pound soon. I do hope someone is looking for him. He doesn't deserve all this at his time of life.
  6. Good point. My dog doesn't like strangers and certainly wouldn't take food from one but I've blocked off the area behind the gate so that he can't get close in case anything is thrown over. Of course there are one or two cats that come through the garden (and have regular scraps on the patio!) so they'll be at risk but something would have to be right under my boy's nose for him to notice it. I'll still check the garden when he goes out though. What a nightmare!
  7. I'll have to look it up. I'm the last person in the world to get into arguments and I've always found it very peaceful around here so it's all a bit of a shock to the system. I'm not sure what to do tbh. I don't want to make it into a major thing as I think he may have problems and I suppose I hope it will all just go away. On the other hand I don't want to be scared for my boy. My garden is very secure and my dog only goes out with me so I don't think he can hurt him. Anyway someone is supposed to be giving me his name and address later so that will make it easier to report it to whoever if I decide to.
  8. Well, the owner has got the dog back and has just come round demanding that I pay the reclaiming fee. He was very cross and said that it was my fault so I should pay at least some of it. I refused and asked him to at least get the dog a tag (it was on a harness, no collar) but he said he wouldn't. I asked what would happen if it got lost again but he just asked me for money again and then, in quite a threatening manner, told me he knew what kind of dog I had. A few minutes later he was shouting outside on the road and the dog was off lead running all over. He asked a neighbour to call it as it wouldn't go to him 'because it was upset at being in kennels' but it went up to her when she called it without any hesitation. Then when he went to attach the lead it cowered. I'm torn between being a bit scared and upset and really, really angry.
  9. Thanks H Hounds. My dog's fine now. He just gets a bit panicky if he's not with his mum. I tried calling the dog warden but as it was out of hours I had to ring 101 who called the pound for me and let them know I was on my way. They certainly don't make it easy to report a found dog at the weekend.
  10. I didn't just pick this dog up off the street. (Although I probably would have). He was in my front garden eating bird food and as he was on my property I felt some responsibility to keep him safe and try and get him home. I tried everything I could to find his owners and when I couldn't the only safe thing left for me to do was take him to the pound. I didn't do this lightly as I'm well aware of the statistics regarding staffies but it was the right thing to do. The girls there said they'd ring if he was claimed so if he wasn't I would have told everyone on here what a lovely dog he was and just hope that someone would adopt him. But either way the responsibility lies with the person that lets the dog roam, not the person that picks them up. Of course it's a pain to have to fork out money you weren't expecting but as the girls at the pound said, it teaches people to be more careful. My dog's never escaped as I'm very careful with him but if he did I'd sell my soul to get him back safe and well.
  11. He didn't have a harness on bless him but he was very hungry. Of course he could just have been greedy. Me too. If my dog went missing I'd just want him to be safe. The thought of him wandering around by himself at risk of getting run over makes my blood run cold.
  12. Thanks Moonbird. I suppose it's always somebody else's fault isn't it? Actually, I would have kept the dog until tomorrow and called the dog warden then so that I had more time to look for his owner, but my old dog can't handle change to his routine and had already messed in the house while I was running around looking for the other dogs owner. I couldn't have just turfed him out of my garden though. Whatever the owner may have wanted. I'd rather get shouted at. Poor little dog.
  13. Thanks for saying I did the right thing. The owner has just been round shouting at me because it's going to cost him money to get the dog back. The first thing he said was 'you haven't taken it to the kennels have you'. He said that in future I was to just let it be as it will go home when it's ready (it was in my garden). I told him that it would have been home hours ago if it had a tag on but he got sweary and knocked my wheelie bin over. I feel a bit crap as I keep myself very much to myself normally but I couldn't just leave it and risk it getting knocked down. If it were my dog I would want it to be safe before anything.
  14. It's not Nigel's, I spoke to him earlier and then I knocked on doors and asked anyone I saw where he suggested but without any luck. Then when I got home from the pound, a neighbour said that someone looking for his dog had been waiting outside for ages. It makes me wish I'd waited longer but my dog's fifteen and was getting stressed and I only had transport for a short time. Hopefully the owner will read this and fetch the good boy dog from the pound tomorrow.
  15. He's a dark brindle and white staffie. I didn't get him scanned but he's at the pound now so presumably they will. I felt awful taking him but there wasn't anything else I could do and at least he won't get knocked down now. I just hope either his owners claim him or he finds a nice new home as he was a really lovely dog.
