  1. Hello I am a Wedding and Baby Photographer working in Sheffield. Increasingly, I have been asked to shoot model portfolios. I am looking for a makeup artist to help me build my portfolio in this area. Im sorry but I am currently unable to pay you but feel it would be a good partnership if you are looking to build your portfolio too. Please pm me with your details Many thanks Rachael
  2. Who's up for some bank holiday daytime music and boozing? Music starting from 2pm CAPTAIN HOTKNIVES Captain Hotknives brings you songs of life, drugs, growing up and weird situations all with a twisted perspective. He does a lovely song about the crap food you can buy on a train journey for £1.50, When you see him you will enjoy yourself, even if you're a moron. He has a song called 'Jimi Hendrix Won't Help You With Your Maths Exams'. Imagine Half Man Half Biscuit without the droning Scouse accent or John Otway without the heavy metal bits with a touch of Frank Sidebottom without the papier mache and you're not even halfway to the genius behind this. Come and dance. http://www.captainhotknives.bigcartel.com/ FLOATING DEATH PICNIC The peculiar electro jester from S12 will perform a really ramshackle set of his songs. Following his recent interview with Justin Lee Collins, FDP is well up for this. He may well be supping Desperados and dancing around too. FDP is a man armed with a selection of boxes, dials, devices, a stylophone, a plank of wood and an excitable ...persona. He makes quirky electronic music whilst dancing, vocalising and interacting with his devices. It is a coherent yet shambolic one man quirky pop show. http://soundcloud.com/floating-death-picnic BANK HOLIDAY JEZ His name is Bank Holiday Jez. He likes singing and playing his guitar. He plays little tunes on his mandorin. He has got some cats. They are very nice. When Jez goes out to see his friends they all have a good time. Jez likes it. Jez once saw a dead bird on the road then he went home for his tea. It was nice. I asked him about his feelings recently, and this is what he said: "Yeah! You poisoned my rabbit!". Come and see him. http://www.myspace.com/bankholjez The day is not over when the live music is done.... All followed by the MOD for it djs spinning everything MOD, ska, northern soul etc to see you through to the wee hours :-)

  5. Our weekly Wednesday 'People are Strange' night hosted by James Tait has a great line up this week with.... PISTOLA KICKS - LOS PEPE/ACOUSTIC SESSION (11pm onwards) "After recently delivering several very well received introductions to Pistola Kicks "Los Pepe" sessions the band will be returning to home ground to play an intimate set in Sheffield's cosy Green Room...These [Los Pepe] sessions have seen the band perform in accompaniment of their in house string section in delivering different approaches on conveying both specia...lly written material and regular set fillers." More information on the band's own event page for the night. http://www.facebook.com/pistolakicks?ref=ts&sk=wall#!/event.php?eid=201473153206035 http://www.myspace.com/pistolakicks FRAN SMITH (about 10:15pm - 10:45pm) Up-and-coming singer/song writer coming all the way from Wakey to perform a set of her wonderfully crafted songs for us, here's what Karine Polwart recons: "...it’s really exciting to discover a songwriting talent as intelligent and insightful as Fran Smith... who knows how to sing her own stories with such conviction and grace." - Karine Polwart http://www.myspace.com/fransongs EMILIE MARIE ABRAHAM (about 09:30pm - 10pm) Charming, talented and slightly quirky (if she doesn't mind me saying so) Sheffield based singer/song writer who on the strength of her first demo was invited to perform on BBC RAW Talent. Her last set at PAS was delivered with such confidence and professionalism that we thought we'd invite her back. http://www.myspace.com/emilieawesome DR. CHRIS (before, in between, and after each performance) Spinning an audible Smörgåsbord (cheers QI!) of genres from everyone's favourite decade. Expect sunshine pop, psychedelia, sixties beat, french pop, motown, ska, northern soul, art rock, avante garde and countless quirks and wonders. Hope to see you there. Keep it strange. 10. New York artist, Stewart Lewis with guests Ian Bramall and Ric Booth, gonna be a great night. Stewart Lewis’ soulful blend of pop and folk has been featured on many TV shows including Ghost Whisperer, Dawson’s Creek, Party of Five, and MTV’s Laguna Beach, as well as the feature films A Four Letter Word, Just Friends, and Firehouse Dog . His magnetic stage presence and quirky storytelling have earned him spots opening for Shawn Colvin, Patty Larkin, Josh Ritter, Sheryl Crow, and Ani Difranco to name a few. Help welcome Stewart's first official Sheffield show. With Hostess extraordinaire Amos Chamberlin.
  11. Mod for it every sat from 8 til late. 60s n Northern soul, ska, mowtown, n indie. Great atmosphere n everyone welcome !
  12. Live music and vinyl djs every Wednesday night at The Green Room. From 9pm Free entry (as always ) This week at People Are Strange: SHEDBOATSHEDD (11:00pm-11:30pm) Well established Sheffield band specialising in catchy sometimes dreamy country tinged indie pop ballads with a cello. Fans of Bon Iver and The National and most likely music fans in general are bound to very much enjoy their material. http://www.myspace.com/shedboatshedd ... JAMES TAIT (10:15pm-10:45pm) Here's what a very nice journalist once wrote about me: "James Tait's weakness is his strength. He sings like a dark Richard Hawley with a fragile quiver in his voice but the boldness and vocal power to wring every nuance from every word...deliciously sad without being depressing, delving into deep, black feelings with complete self-confidence and a nice tune." http://www.myspace.com/jamestaitmusic BENJAMIN UNDERWOOD (09:30pm-10:00pm) Here's what Ben once wrote about himself: "Inspired by the paintings of Doig, the poetry of Larkin, the taste of longley farm yogurts and the out of phase setting on a fender strat I set out to make these tunes. Along with the beautiful tones of the BOSS BE-5M I made them. I will be playing them and ones like them whenever I get the chance at wherever is offered to me." http://www.myspace.com/benjaminunderwood DR. CHRIS (before, in between and after) Spinning a carefull selection of 60's beat, sunshine pop, motown, french pop, ska and whatever else he decides to treat us to on the night. Hope to see you there. Keep it strange.
