Hi there, My name is Elisabeth. I'm a German student who came to Sheffield for a 6 month work placement. I like the city very much, but I am not sure, if considered the current economic climate, I should go back to Germany and look for a job opportunity there. Am I the only one with this dilemma? I was telling a friend of mine who is currently studying in Sheffield University about my doubts, and she told me she came across an informative event which will take place in Sheffield on the 29th of January to explore opportunities to work abroad and get funding from the European Union to finance this work experience. We are currently looking for women who would be interested in participating in a free Mentoring Circle™ as part of FE:MALE, a new European project aimed at encouraging women who face particular challanges either because of disability, ethnicity, being a lone parent or working in a non-traditional area, into entrepreneurship. Research shows that women entrepreneurs are under-represented across all of the European countries represented in FE:MALE and indicates common barriers at the core of this under-representation including lack of confidence, work-life balance concerns and anxiety about risk-taking. Mentoring Circles™ aim to provide women with the support they need to overcome these barriers. Participants meet in small groups led by an experienced female entrepreneur to explore the idea of starting up in business in a supportive environment. Different tools and exercises are used to help individuals understand their transferable skills for running a business and to build confidence. This is a great chance to develop your ideas, meet new people and build contacts, helping to get your business off to a good start!
