  1. Hey folks, I did the Sheffield Round Walk last month with a few friends. We wanted to stop off at pubs along the way however I couldn't find much information online. For anyone wanting to do what we did, I have written a handy guide to drinking whilst walking around some beautiful parts of the Sheffield borough. Hope somebody finds it helpful! http://coolbeansproductions.co.uk/the-sheffield-round-walk-pub-crawl/
  2. 9th July, Yellow Arch Studios, 11PM - 3AM Tickets, £3 advance (no booking fee): https://coolbeansproductions.yapsody.com/event/index/41634/the-final-cool-beans-party Well folks, the time has come, we've partied for over 5 years and now the time has come to party one last time. When I started up Cool Beans I was a young whippersnapper, keen to drink as many cans of Red Stripe as possible and stay up until at least 2AM. Nowadays my bones ache and I consider an almond croissant/latte combination to be a delightful treat. I'm beginning to drift more towards nights out where seating is almost certainly guaranteed and I find Radio 4's World Service incredibly informative. I am very proud of what Cool Beans has become, originally focusing on events and an internet-only radio show it's now branched out to become a TV programme on 7 different channels, an FM radio show, a bookings agency, a podcast, a host stage at multiple festivals and a column in Now Then Magazine. And even though we're entering the final chapter with regards to the parties we put on, this doesn't mark the end of Cool Beans, just an end of a certain era of Cool Beans shall we say. For the final one, we just want to have a royal knees up, a celebration of all the celebrations we've had over the last five years. And what better way to celebrate than getting your favourite DJs and closest pals to perform alongisde you on the night. Thus the line up for the 9th July at Yellow Arch is quite simply as follows... Andy H Chris Arnold Jimmy The Gent Lonesome Dom Mickey Michaels Sidekick Jonny & a cardboard cutout of Andy Enchilada Tickets are £3 advance (no booking fee) and will be £5 on the door. Everyone who attends will get a free hug from myself and a free wet willy from Mickey Michaels. https://coolbeansproductions.yapsody.com/event/index/41634/the-final-cool-beans-party Huge thanks to all the acts we've had on the years, all the venues, all the promotors we collaborated with and everyone who has come to a show and shaken some legs. Special thanks to the Unseen Bean for all his artwork. And of course thanks to messers Enchilada, Kidson, Michaels, May & Harrold for getting so heavily involved with it all. Cheers again Sheffield, it's been a fun 5 years, onwards to the next chapter! Chris. xxx
  3. There's a hot new intimate venue in town, much hotter, newer and intimater than anything previously, and that my friends is Regather. Always one to jump on board a new space to have a good time in, we've been granted access for one night of fun. So on the 21st May book in your babysitters and get on down to Club Garden Road for a double header of talent*! THE GRAND OLD UKES OF YORKSHIRE Duncan & Bassy make up Sheffield's second best ukulele-based comedy act, and occasionally when the Everly Pregnant Brothers play a gig outside of town, they're bumped up to first place for a glorious couple of hours. Expect all your favourite 90s and 00s hits delivered with such enchantingly magical whimsy that you'll begin to wonder why the ukulele isn't dominating today's Spotify charts. You may have also caught the duo moonlighting as weatherman on local television across the country (hey, you need to pay the bills somehow). THE CHRIS ARNOLD EXPERIENCE Cool Beans head honcho Chris Arnold is back with a brand new powerpoint driven show after months estranged from civilisation caught up in a gang of feral wolves (don't ask, but let's assume that scamp Mickey Michaels is to blame). Expect a variety of top page wipes, some averagely amusing songs and multiple displays of pure pan pipe talent. You may know Chris from his work on The Cool Beans Television Show or his appearance in Bonnie Tyler's Top 8 friends on Myspace circa 2004-2005. http://www.madeinleeds.tv/programme/cool-beans/ We wanted to make it free entry, but there a few costs involved in hiring the venue. We've kept it cheap though. Tickets available at £3 (no booking fee) from the Regather site: https://regather.yapsody.com/event/index/36871/cool-beans-presents-grand-old-ukes-of http://www.coolbeansproductions.co.uk/ *the term 'talent' is used subjectively.

The result of classically trained musicians developing a taste for prog/post-rock and merging the two. For fans of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Johan Sebastian Bach. https://www.facebook.com/UnKillableClerics/ CHRIS ARNOLD DJ SET 11pm-3am Head honcho of Cool Beans Productions, Chris Arnold plays a mix of reggae, swing, garage, disco, dnb, soul, ska, breaks, hip hop, balkan, grime, electro-swing, dancehall, house, funk, rock, jazz, rock n roll, motown, techno, etc, etc, etc! 5. We're taking over the Yellow Arch Studios for our 5th birthday! KING PORTER STOMP Festival scene legends, Brighton-based King Porter Stomp return to Cool Beans after blowing us away a few years back, bringing with them their unmistakeable funk/ska/dub/hip hop sound! http://kingporterstomp.co.uk/ SMILING IVY A band close to our hearts, alongside them we've toured the French Alps, the Scottish Highlands and countless UK cities. The evening will host a double milestone as Smiling Ivy shall also be celebrating ten whole years! http://www.smilingivy.co.uk/ MANGO RESCUE TEAM Tropical mayhem galore from this Sheffield collective, expect inflatable palm trees and more coconut rhythms you can shake a stick at. Tropical rating will be through the roof for their set! https://mangorescueteam.bandcamp.com/ + SPECIAL GUESTS Finishing off the night in the main room we'll have pretty much the best party band we've ever seen. Clue: it could get brassy. + DJs/HOSTS Hapless chumps Chris Arnold & Mickey Michaels, from the Cool Beans Television Show, have been allowed out of prison for the night. http://madeinleeds.tv/programme/cool-beans We'll also have a second room going for this one, a DJ fuelled mega-mash-up-party-rave the like that Sheffield has never seen before! Working the platters that matter on the evening are as follows... 6. Hey Mel, Sorry it took me so long to reply to this, I don't check this account very often. Season 2 is now available online here: http://www.madeinleeds.tv/programme/cool-beans/ Thanks for checking it out! X
  7. It's been quite some time since the last Cool Beans live event but as we hurtle towards celebrating 5 years of beans the time has come to visit a Sheffield based venue that we've never had the pleasure of hosting an event at - The Washington! Yes indeed! One of the city's favourite drinking caverns, renowned for its sweaty dancefloor and tasty ales, has allowed us, the Beans Brigade, to take over the venue for one night only! Not only that, it's free entry and we've got a stonker of a line up planned! DEXTER DEXTROUS & THE FINGERSMITHS Storming funk, swing, ska and other energetic genres from this Leeds based-act. They've been off the gigging scene for a bit whilst their singer has been out the country so it's even more exciting that we've grabbed them for a rare live show. The eagle-eyed of you out there might recognise some of their members from the circus-pyro-festival-rave dons Slamboree! One things for certain, these guys are guaranteed to get a dancefloor going at any party. THE UNSCENE Reggae, folk, soul and general nice vibes from this Sheffield collective. Fronted by Tom 'Souldeep' Hutt, you may have caught these guys at Sharrow Festival, Tramlines and many other cracking events this summer. Perfect way to open up the night. + DJ/HOST CHRIS ARNOLD Head honcho of Cool Beans, last seen in prison with accomplice Mickey Michaels in June. However he's been released on bail for a few September DJ sets (including a slot at everyone's favourite island party Bestival) and will be taking you late night dwellers well into the early hours with his musical selection. https://soundcloud.com/arnivore/arnivore-presents-and-the/ All welcome! Locals, students, men, women, pandas, hippos. Come on down and get yo groove on! More info: https://www.facebook.com/events/995490043806510/

  9. Good morning you beautiful bunch - we bring news! The complete re-edited first series of the Cool Beans Television Show is now up on the Made TV catch-up player. To indulge, simply click on the link below and head to "Entertainment", all 6 episodes can be found and enjoyed again and again! http://www.madeinleeds.tv/player/ Many of you may dispute the fact that we're in the "Entertainment" category. Also many of you may dispute the fact that the catch-up player is non-Sheffield related and ergo not suitable for this forum. SLTV currently doesn't have a catch-up player so is unable to be uploaded there. Anyway, hope you enjoy! A taster for series 2 can be found here:

  12. After some festive excess and January hibernation, Smiling Ivy is back to kick-off 2015 with a full-skanking, hip-shaking hometown headline. On Friday, February 6, we’ll be at Sheffield’s Riverside Live for a night jam-packed with ska, dub, punk, electro swing, DnB, hip-hop, and more. The night will be dedicated to our amazing friend Emma Twigg, who lost her battle with cancer last year. We’ll be spinning a whole load of her favourite tunes (she had cracking taste) and will be donating all proceeds from the gig to Marie Curie Cancer Care. For main support, we’re really excited to welcome rave-rascals Jenova Collective, who had an amazing 2014 on the festival and party circuit. The heavy-hitting Leeds seven-piece will definitely turn up the heat with their eclectic and energising mix of electro swing, DnB, house, breaks and ghetto funk. We’ll also have acoustic trio The Busketeers along for the ride. Comprising of two members from Sheffield ska-legends Bison, the folk stalwarts will be a real treat to kick-off the occasion. DJ Well Aware will be keeping the party rocking and the good vibes flowing - dropping electro swing, ghetto funk, dub, D&B, hip-hop, and mashing-up anything that makes the waistline wiggle. The enormously talented Mexican Sugar Skull will also be there to paint-up your beautiful faces. Tickets cost £3 advance and £5 on the door. Remember ALL PROCEEDS GO TO CHARITY!!! You can purchase a ticket here: https://tickets.partyforthepeople.org.uk/events/866-smiling-ivy-jenova-collective-the-busketeers-marie-curie-cancer-care-fundraiser Facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1567082623527408/
  13. 2014 has been an amazing year for us, we have been honoured to host some tremendous guests at the Harley. The likes of DJ Yoda, A.Skillz, DJ Format, The Reflex, Souleance, Prime Cuts, DJ Woody, Evil Nine, Mr Benn and plenty more have all graced our stage. Thank you very much if you've joined us for one or more of our parties! As we move into the final month of the year we'd thought we'd do something a little different. We've invited two of our favourite Sheffield based live outfits to come and perform. Hot Diamond Aces and Airwolf are two seriously tight and funky bands jam packed with horns, licks, top vocals and ferocious energy. We are seriously looking forward to hosting a live element at Quality Control for the first time. On DJ duties we have Ocelus doing his mesmerising DJ/AV set for the first time ever in Sheffield. Plus Arnivore AKA Chris Arnold (Cool Beans) will keep the party going until the early hours. And of course our residents the Quality Controllers will be there to join all the musical dots. Note the early start for this show, we'll be kicking off proceedings at 8PM with the first band on at 9PM. 14. The Cool Beans 4th Birthday at Queens Social Club this Halloween! If you don't know about these guys well you should. Watching one of their live performances is pretty much the most fun you can have even with taking your clothes off.
