  1. Hi Pat, Just came across this as I was looking for a photo of the sweet shop for my family tree. I am Andy Mills and we are 4th cousins. I'm from Rotherham so didn't get to savour your dad's goods!
  2. Hiya Sean and thanks. I've just spoke to John so thanks a lot. I also wondered if you were the Sean that sang and played with John in Fagins et al when we worked at the works dept. and lo and behold you are!!! How you keeping mate?? Will be arranging a few jars of the black stuff so hope to see you again soon. Cheers, Andy Mills
  3. Cheers Wobblybob. do we know each other? i was senior steward at the works dept when john worked there and he was indeed a good shop steward
  4. I,m looking for John Keane, ex bricklayer at Sheffield Works Department and guitarist/singer in local pubs. Anyone know his whereabouts or where he sings nowadays.
  5. My grandad, Bill Baxter worked at Lees' as a fitter in the 60's and my dad John Jock Mills was there for 20 odd years untill he retired or took voluntary redundancy in the early 80's. He also worked with the fitters (his mate was called Keith), i think at Crown and stevenson Road.
  6. Me an all Linda. I used to go to Sheffield boozing in the early 70's, The Buccaneer at Barkers Pool mostly, and remember Nora hollering and haranguing people. We had some eccentrics in Rotherham but i don't think any matched Nora's noteriety.
  7. hi Gales' I saw your piece about the Edleys - I think we may be related my grandmother was Kate Edley born Wadsley Bridge 1902, daughter of Charles cited in census material as a Silver Comb Maker
