  1. 3 birthday cards have been sent to me in S5 this year that never turned up - complained to the main post office, they took the details but never heard back. Luckily no money was inside them. Bills & junk mail still keep arriving OK though
  2. Hi - my son dropped his DS Lite at the weekend and not been able to switch it on since. It will charge on the red light only so not fully charging. Does anyone know anywhere that mends them? Thanks

These all look good options for what the OP was wanting So confusing as to what kind of OS to go for
  4. I am looking for a tablet for my daughter and she had picked out a google android off ebay - now I'm not so sure. Been having a quick google aroun and come across this one in Carphone Wharehouse. Would this be a better alternative to the cheaper ones we have seen on ebay? 9. The one on Chapel Walk - Quickstich? - charged me £8 for jeans taking up and they were done and ready to collect within 2 hours.
  10. Hi - thanks everyone Managed to get a closer look at the bees now - sorry they are not Honey Bees they are Tree Bees. Still really need them moving but not sure now on whether they can be moved so any further info would be appreciated. I don't want to have them killed Thanks
  11. Hi I have just found a bee nest in my compost bin in the garden. Rang Environmental Health who said they can remove it but will probably kill the bees. Don't want the bees killing. I think they are honey bees. They're next to where my children play so need them moving as soon as possible. Does anyone know a bee keeper that can come and take them away please ?
  12. Definatley, in my experience talking to heads of year, pastorial staff, deputy heads and heads doesn't seem to count for anything these days. They show more sympathy to the bullies than the poor kids that are on the receiving end. My daughters school state "Bullying will not be tolerated, if you have problems talk to us". ............it's no good talking to some-one who's not listening. The mention of going to school governors has them begging you to let them sort it, but in my experience tell them once and if it's not sorted bypass them all straight to the governors.
  13. Hi everyone. Oriflame cosmetics - are they any any good ? Been buying Avon but have now lost faith in their products and looking for an alternative that I can buy through a same kind of book.
  14. She's by no means spoilt - but she's not a child who sits on the computer or watches TV all the time either. She's active and enjoys being out with her friends: bowling, swimming, horse-riding, basketball. All these activities don't come free, which she will realise now she's agreed that she will be paying for them.! I've always paid for her to do the above things since her being 5 and it was a natural progression to continue to pay for them, so maybe I have given too much in that respect,
  15. Pets at Home - opens in May 2011 http://www.companioncare.co.uk/jvp-sheffield-kilnerway.html
  16. Mr Prime yes - think that's going to be the solution, she can have the same as her friends have and pay for the same sort of things they pay for. It will put her on equal standing with her friends and she will then learn that she needs to start and save for "extras" and not spend on silly things.
  17. More ? Just been asking her why she thinks she should get more and she can't give me any reasonable answer other than her friends get more (but they do have to save and pay for cinema, bowling etc from their pocket money)
  18. I must give her some credit, she does help around the house, washes pots every school day after tea, odd bit of hoovering and ironing if asked. Tries to keep her room tidy ! She plays with her younger brother if she can see I'm busy and he's bored. She's looking for a job to earn a bit extra - but at 14 it's a bit difficult.
  19. Great idea - think this would give her a big shock ! Another brilliant idea ! The £10 she gets seems to go on silly things, she buys extra make-up like eyeliner, which I don't like her wearing, putting it on when she goes out of the house ! I think she forgets I was 14 once and did exactly the same Then there is the "I bought a sandwich in meadowhall, or a bottle of pop, bus fares to my friends etc etc"
  20. Hi everyone We give our 14 yr old daughter £10 a week spending money and she says we are "stingey" ! I think this is enough, bearing in mind we pay for everything else she needs including mobile phone credit, clothes, make-up, toiletries etc.................... We also pay for her if she wants to go to pictures, bowling etc during school holidays with her friends. So what do you think is £10 reasonable or are we being "stingey" ???
  21. These are worth a look if you don't fancy a walk http://www.dialadrink.net/
  22. Admitted some people have no option but to get their kids to school by car due to having to get to work travelling distance and so on and if you buy or rent a house near a school surley you are aware there will be more cars parking at school opeining and closing times. The OP 's annoyance is at inconsiderate parents who park on the yellow zig zags and the double yellow lines, not the parents parking on the surrounding streets. If parents park on surrounding roads and are not blocking residents drives then that has to be accepted by the residents, although they may not like it, not much they can do about it. The annoyance is when certain parents think that they have a right to park illegally because they can't find a space elsewhere or just can't be bothered to look. I do agree that more parents should walk with their children to school though where possible. I personally know parents who live a 5 - 10 minute walk away that drive their kids to school and then drive back home. I also know of children who have been ferried around in cars from an early age and won't walk anywhere they need to go and the family car becomes a personal taxi for them as they grow older.
