  1. I need a puppy sitter for an 8 week old whippet on Thursday 25 Feb from 9am - 3pm. Ideally from S5/S35/S36. Short notice but we have a family funeral and are unable to get a local sitter.

Ideally need someone who has experience with very active pups as she will need more or less constant attention.

She is being crate trained at present

(We did try and postpone collection of our new pup, but couldn't)

    Please message me if interested

Hi thank you to all have messaged, much appreciated. We are now sorted with the help needed

  2. Apparently the new 30 signs were put up sometime Friday pm, and the old 40 signs removed from the bottom of Cowley View Road at the same time. New 40 signs have also been erected just past the school as you go over the brow of the hill towards Ecclesfield, and 30 the over way.

I came up Chapeltown Road to Chap Friday afternoon and do not recall any signs being up at 2pm, and I'm a reasonably careful driver, so if they were there then the cameras got me. Strangely enough the wife and I walked down to Ecclesfield last weekend and we only commented then that the speed limit changes had not been made, and then, hey presto here they are (they were planned as part of the road renewal) !!

I also play football at the school on Fridays and had been told by a mate at around 5pm Friday that the speed limit had changed. I came out of Park View Road on to Ecco Road which has always been a 30 zone, and then noticed the 40 signs at CV Road had been removed. The first notice you get that it is now 30 is 10 yards before the cameras when a small 30 sign has appeared below the camera sign.

Dont get me wrong - I agree it should be 30 past a school, BUT, surely some temp signs should have been put up to tell/warn drivers of the change - maybe that happens this week coming!!

Finally my lad says he's seen it on the council website that the cameras will not be changed to 30 until Friday 12/9 - I cant find this, so not sure if its true or not, but that may help some.

Hope this helps, but slow down is the underlying message on that road.

Bold - Anyone know where this info can be confirmed

  3. Got nothing to do with your council house every job i go to i treat as if its my own house the tradesmen they have at parsons cross are alot from ygi because parsons own lads or down leicester if you have any plumbing jobs or gas i will come down personally and sort for you

Just private message me and we go from there cause not all of us from parsons are bad

Unfortunately we don't get to pick or choose who does the work, we just have to open the door when they are sent and let them in then hope for the best.

I agree not all the work is bad, there has been some good workmen in here who have done a job and done it right and we've been happy with the work etc, but the majority of the finished work isn't good. The most annoying part has been the dis-organisation and the lack of schedules and who's coming in when and then jobs having to be re-done.

I just have to keep in mind that, the windows, heating and electrics are now better and safer and that the bathroom and kitchen are slowly getting better the nearer we get to completion of them and that the end result will be a better home for us. ....... as for the effects the whole process has had on us personally it will def be at the top of the "worst times of our lives" list

  4. Oh gosh well i work for parsons and have done for last 7 years they are a very good firm but im leicester devision i do no there men are stretched alot they took on all ygi mess ups so trippled work load no excuse i no but they are doing there best they have had alot of hassle due to ygi mess ups lets hope mr alan parsons sorts it for you very soon

to be honest , there's that many different contractors coming in for different trades with no notice given and without any one ever confirming where they are from other than saying the job that they've come to do. but Parsons is the name I hear the most alongside Kier when anything has to be checked.

Luckily YGI didn't start any work on the house, although they were scheduled to start but the start date was delayed when they went.

The workmanship on almost every trade that has been in is very poor and well below professionals standards. school boy errors are being made. for example. the overflow pipe not connected on the bath, which caused 2 leaks into the room and ceiling and wallpaper damage plus damage to a wii console. Washing machine pipes being jammed into the small space in the cupboard, instead of cutting out a small piece to thread them through, luckily i was in the kitchen and realised the water wasn't coming through or it could have caused damage to the washer. I have an endless list of damage that has been caused to our personal things from carpets to light shades,

If these things were happening in a privately owned house or a private rented house, well they wouldn't happen but because we are "only" council tenants it doesn't seem to matter that these mistakes happen. Think they forget that these houses are our homes and their actions are affecting all the family, my children have also been upset by all thats been happening on top of getting the stress vibes from us. It's not good at all and we feel as though we are being treating with no respect for our well being or for our personal belongings.

  5. I'm into week 8 now of the decent homes work. I agree it's a total nightmare from organisation to the workmanship. regardless of it being a council house we should still be seeing more organisation, liaison and better finished products. The plasterer did a terrible job, the walls are worse than they were before and now the paints on it's horrendous. Jobs are started and not finished. We've had endless amounts of damage to our personal things from broken light shades to ripped carpets and the mess left after each job, even when i've been told ,"we've cleaned up " i've had to follow up with proper cleaning.

Contractors turn up to do jobs with little or no notice, most with the aim of getting in doing the job fast, without a care for the finish. I was given 5 minutes notice at 8.15am during this week to clear the kitchen, they know i have children and do a school run, but they don't care, after all we are only tenants !

I have totally had enough of the whole process and can't wait for them to sign the house off as finished, but this will not be done before xmas as still many things to correct and jobs to be finished. The whole process is starting to make me ill with the stress of it all and it is affecting all the family including our children.

We never wanted the work doing. but the house had not been touched for well over 30 years so needed to be brought up to date, especially with electrics, windows and the heating.

Luckily I was allowed to leave the cooker and the washer connected in the kitchen, without the use of these i think i would have ended up camping out at our parents . I sympathise with anyone that has gone through this over the last 10 years or so and more so for the houses that are being done last. I'd heard quite a few horror stories in the past, but always thought that they were vamping the problems up and complaining at the slightest things, now i'm in it I know what was said is true.

  6. tell me how its safer to drive to collect your kids at 1pm than it is at 3pm please.

I don't drive to pick my kids up at all, i walk. but the schools have to think about the teachers and the staff as well who may live miles away from the school and have no alternative but to drive.

They also have to weigh up what is happening from hour to hour, it's stopped snowing where I am now, but they have to watch the weather to make sure that all pupils and staff are able to get home safe.

  7. This reads like a spam ad for an affilliate website.....

nope it's not - I have told my story of how I have successfully lost weight through this group - perhaps before judging you should take a look at the facebook pages.

I posted this to help other people who may be struggling to lose weight. it doesn't bother me whether or not the post is here. I have no affiliatte connection or financial connection to the diet plan.

just some-one who'd like to help others ..........................

  8. The time had come for me to seriously look at losing the extra 4 stone of weight I was carrying.

I tried calorie counting/ pils/ slimmimg world etc etc ... lost a bit of weight.put it all back on and more . What was I doing wrong, I was getting fatter and getting depressed, something had to change I couldn't carry on with these diets where I was eating hardly anything, going to bed hungry and waking up hungry. The only pounds i was losing was my hard earned cash.

So I started looking into changing my diet completley, going back to basic eating, cutting sugar, fats and carbs etc.moving more . During my research I came across a diet online, through Facebook that had brilliant reviews and loads of people losing weight and maintaining through the plan. I kept going back to it having a look, thinking no I can't do that I love sweet stuff too much. Then the time came that at 4 stone overweight I really had to do something, my weight was now affecting me medically and my family.

So I thought for £11 for this diet plan booklet i'd give it a go, nothing ventured, nothing gained and I could easily have spent that £11 on chocolate and junk at the corner shop. This £11 sent turned into the best cash I'd ever spent !!

The plan fell in line with all the research I had been doing, low fat, low carbs, high protein, low sugar, more exercise was being screeched at me from every webpage I loaded to try and get some help and the bonus was some-one was telling me what to eat, how much to eat, and even giving me recipes for interesting meals for the foods you can eat. Brilliant.. instead of some-one telling me I can have a piece of cake as long as it's in your points, 'cos eh if you tell me I can have a piece of cake I'd want another !!

So with some anxiety and excitement at the same time I started the plan. I admit it was hard to get into the first few days, I had some cravings for the sweet stuff but that soon went away, I was eating like a queen, 3 good meals a day plus snack, I loved it 'cos I could eat. I did think though , how can I eat all this food and lose weight. I've been doing the plan now for 14 weeks and have lost 3stone 2lbs, 12lb to go to target, albeit this target is the higher end of the "normal" weight range for me. So will stop there and see if I want to lose a bit more or not. I'm quite tall and broad and don't like the skinny, sticky out bones look. I've got curves and would like to keep some of them!! x

I'm so glad I changed my diet, it's been a total change for me food wise, but I love it. I get loads of support from the creator of the plan and the other 3000 plus members online anytime I need it. I don't have to sit in the slimming groups meetings feeling like everyone is looking at me 'cos I only lost 1/2 pound that week and paying for the priviledge of someone else weighing me and not giving real advise on eating.

This is a lifestyle change for me like I said - i don't want to be fat again 'cos I feel happy and healthy now. I'll get help with maintaining and will be able to have treats as long as I know my boundries and learn at what level my body will regain.

Perhaps a completley different take on what kinds of food you eat may help you. I know in the group there are ladies (and Men) who have medical problems. take medication, some disabled who have tried for years different diets and not got anywhere till they started on the plan and are now happily losing.

I just wanted to share with anyone who's plodding down the same path I was and getting nowhere with losing weight. , pm me if you would like the link to the webpage to take a look at the plan I'm on. It changed my life .perhaps my post and info could change yours if you are looking to loose weight, once and for all.

  9. Hi - what sort of foods do you eat ? anything as long as it's in the allowed calories ?

I tried calorie counting/ pils/ slimmimg world etc etc ... lost a bit of weight.put it all back on and more :(

  10. Hi

Will the Tax Office at Young Street be able to help me with Working/Child Tax Credit. Been trying to find out what is happening with my new claim and either get told it's being processed or the Helpline is constantly engaged (appreciate it is the start of a new tax year). I haven't had a payment from them for 7 weeks following a change of circumstances and things are getting financially difficult now with the low wage we earn.

    Thanks

  11. do you rent your property...and is the debt yours.....well if you feel cornered...declare yourself bankrupt....and make a fresh start.....the council have millions owing to them...so another grand won't hurt....

this should not effect your other half...and it will make the kids happy...

Or even a Debt Relief Order (DRO) if debts are below £15K and you have less than £50 a month left as disposable income. CCCS are very good at advising on the debt side of things and are free of charge.

  12. NEED ADVICE ASAP.had a letter from the baliffs on saturday about my unpaid council tax bill, was paying up untill dec got into finacial difficultys which as resulted in it being passed to baliffs.phoned baliff got anwser machine, left a message to say who i was and wanted to make an offer to pay in installments.

they never got back to me,kept phoning anwser phone was full so could not even leave another msg.balliff turned up this morning posted a letter through the door with a notice of siezure and inventry of goods for my partners car. with a fee on top for 475.35.

this is my debt, enforcement is in my name so i know they cant do this but will they anyway.log book proves it belongs to my partner and he is not responsible for the debt. had to send baliff a text msg as they wont take my calls and anwser phone is full.feel utterly powerless.have stated in my text that i will not be allowing entry to levy goods and would like to make a payment plan.phoned council who were useless and refused to take the debt back from baliffs even tho i said i;ll pay 25 pounds.

on a very low income and need to be able to pay new tax bill.phoned debtline who advised me not to let them in and are sending out some leaflets to help me do a budget planner, but the baliffs are coming back tommorow and my partner uses his car for work as he,s self employed. help please at my wits end:help:

    Hi sent you a PM

They cannot take the car as the debt is in your name. Plus it is used in employment. They cannot take anything connected to work, ie tools, computer needed for work.

Do not open the door to them, Lock all the doors as they can try the handle and if it's unlocked they can gain peaceful entry this way. Once they have gained peaceful entry they can gain access again.

Sent you a PM with contact details to get intouch with someone at council and baliffs to inform them of your change in circumstances.

You should then get help from the Debt Support Unit at Citizens Advice who will deal with this on your behalf.

The main thing is to not let them in the house at all until you can seek help from CAB/DSU
