  1. Yes you are right Chicken G is couped up so to speak, unfortunately I am ill, bitten by the bug as they say.... but where has "George" come from ? my name is Gerald and I really don't look like a chicken or a road runner as you so kindly made the similarity ..I just work with them.. I am not familiar with the person who does the cooking , I certainly am not "taking the michael " and just for the record if you think this guy buys this food from a takeaway to take to a pub to pass off as his own ..then you must be as mad as he is.. if he does.....not that I think that but for those who do...go to the place and try it for yourself and maybe if you're lucky you'll get a recipe.!!!! or a mouthful for saying such things hope this is still on the go for when I get better and a free pint sounds great !
  2. Hi vicki sorry if i took your comment the wrong way... i don't know if this guy does the food every friday but it really is good and i'll be most disappointed if there's none this week.. lol don't think he works there as he was just drinking and having a laugh with his pals you should try it for yourself....may be i'll see you there...that's if the wife lets me out ha ha she got the face on last week because i didn't eat my tea.......oh dear in the dog house again..........!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Thanks for sticking up for me Beth22, i guess you know the pub then... At least i now know what OP means..lol - the landlady i expect will own the place who else would? and if she's working behind the bar how can she be behind the cooking! What's up with people on here...doesn't anybody believe that there are still some people who do something for selfsatisfaction and not always for MONEY.... i don't really care anyway ...i like the place and the food and will be in on friday to see this guy, find out his name and tell him what a set of disbelivers are on here...
  4. Who's trying to drum up business....don't even know the area or people around there, i live in dronfield and was passing on my way homefrom work, there was a traffic queue because of roadworks so i called in for a drink while it cleared. The atmosphere was good so i called in again the following week I'm sorry but i'm pretty new to SF so idon't understand the lingo yet.....can someone tell me what OP means please....
  5. This food isn't laced with salt and from what i can see the guy who cooks it started off bringing some food for his mates to try and it's just grown from there. yes there were some old pub tricks like you mention with the yorkshires, roast potatoes, crisps etc etc but i don't think this is the case the guy just seems to genuinely appreciate the comments from his friends, i have just been lucky enough to call for a beer at the right timeand was offered some along with anyone else who wanted to try it. if you don't want any then you don't have it...simple as that..!! i'm looking forward to this week..lol As for OP Ghostrider...what's that ?
  6. Has anybody tried the fabulous food on offer free in the rose and crown on a friday early bar?? It's absolutely fantastic and from what i can gather is made by a local guy as he seems to be friends with the landlady Up to now there has been chilli and garlic bread and indian curry and samosas...i missed out on the chinese chicken curry but heard others saying how good it was. Can't wait to see what this week brings Good on ya mate The curry was as good if not better than any takeaway i've had, as were the samosas and the chilli was just right Makes you want to stay for another drink, great atmosphere and nice people, will definately be back !...
