I'd no idea that cyclists/runners were in danger on the streets of sheffield - is this really a problem or is it relatively few incidents? does it happen all/most of the time? bit wary of taking up cycling/running now....

I'm doing my dissertation at the moment and my topic is all about the sexualisation of children and whether theyre growing up too fast in the UK. Loads of groups have voiced their opinions about how children shouldnt be wearing this, that and the other. But, are there any parents/children out there who feel that kids cant be kids forever and they're going to have to grow up at some stage? I'd be interested in interviewing someone who allows their 'tween' or 'younger teen' to wear make up/clothes that would normally be for an older girl. Or whether theres any 11/12 year olds who are aspiring dancers and look up to people like Rihanna/Christina Aguilera? Really hope someone can help - thank you.

its interesting that the metrodome, wombwell, penistone and athersley - are all owened by the same company. maybe its just a matter of consolidating efforts into one pool?

But the woman leading the campaign seems to be of an age where she would be able to avail of free swimming but yet shes been fighting hard to keep it open for younger people too.theres obviously a demand from the community to keep it open. My point is just that its always the amenities that people want that seem to be the first to get cut.

but surely if 3000 are in favour of them staying open then - they should? its a local ammenity - yes, 3000 people obviously dont use it every week, but surely the majority of them use the swimming pool at some point throughout the year - if not on a regular basis.

What do people think of the decision to close the 3 leisure centres in Barnsley due to council budget cuts? Wombwell Baths, Penistone and Athersley Leisure centres will shut forever next Tuesday 31st, with residents in the area told to go elsewhere to swim. Does anyone know how the people in Barnsley are responding to these closures as there were over 3000 signatures on a petition to avoid the closures.
