  1. What a totally pointless initial question on this thread. Just to clarify I am most certainly a working class Tory. (I've not always voted Tory, before you shoot me down) Why would I vote Tory...? Well, it's got nothing to do with you. I don't hear those that 'always' voted Labour regardless, getting asked why they vote Labour all the time...? It's like there's some stigma if you vote Tory. Well, I'm a free thinker and I've decided for myself. There's no point is arguing politics with anyone that always votes Labour regardless. It's like arguing with a woman.....! Yes, I really did stereotype there. But if you don't understand humour....!
  2. It should be readily acceptable that a decent deposit is paid. It can depend on the cost and nature of the job, because most jobs have high initial expenditure to get materials there and also when you're paying labour out weekly I would be very quickly out of pocket as the builder/contractor. I've been an architect for over 20 years and yes I've seen some horror stories, however I've seen a fair few bad customers too. Therefore there has to be faith and trust on both parties. I now carry out a design and build service. I ask for a minimum 25% up front initial payment on the day work starts. Then two further 25% payments as wrok progresses. Then I ask for say 15-20% and whatever is left I say keep hold of until any snagging has been completed. That way I have cash flow and it makes sure I'm not having to use extensive credit, I can get better deals and my sub contractors get paid straight away and are therefore willing to turn up when required and do an excellent job. Our work is to the highest of standards and I am there for my clients/customers whenever required to discuss anything. I usually don't even charge for changes that can even cost me money, because at the end of the day the best work is through recommendation so I go that bit further to create the best possible job for someones budget. I am always happy to give prospective customers references and my customers are always happy to show people round the work we've completed. Because of my background I always make sure the jobs are done correctly, not as your usual builder will want to do something, to cut corners...! Find a decent honest builder and have trust in each other and you will end up with the best finished project you deserve. Keep the builder waiting for payment and it will reflect in the job and your relationship with them, and maybe even your own family. ---------- Post added 10-07-2014 at 17:37 ---------- Just to add, thinking about it. My last three customers have now become friends while carrying out the builds and I socialise with them now. Now that's recommendation for you....!
  3. Cheers. I will make contact with them this week :-)
  4. Hi. We are looking for a couple of kittens. I'm a cat owner since I was a kid. My wife however has little experience with cats, so she's doing the usual and going for cute..! Any contacts would be appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Thanks for the reply. Personally I don't have a problem with black cats. Had one before. My wife to be honest has to be convinced and is doing the usual 'going for cuteness' and to be a young kitten. So unfortunately that rules out anything older than say three months or so. :-/
  6. Hi. Been a cat owner since I was a kid, but not had one for three years since the last one died. Looking to get a couple of family kittens. Anyone know of anyone wanting home some kittens...? Thank you in advance.
