  1. Yep -, they're seizing land from residents and nomadic Bedouins who have used the land as far back as anyone can remember. Ethnic cleansing is a phrase which comes to mind.
  2. Er no - what don't you understand about "Don't fancy the 600ft climb uphill from the nearest shop".
  3. In that well known footy ground safety publication - the Mail 😎
  4. So not a leader in waiting role then. Who have been the Tory deputy leaders to Cameron / May / Johnson / Truss / Sunak?
  5. Remember Wednesday winning a replay 1 - 3 at Leeds Jan 69 / Most elecric atmosphere I've ever known - more than half the crowd were Wednesdayites. Peter Eustace was absolutely class on the night, from nutmegging Bremner early doors to launching a free kick way over the Scratching Shed in the last minute to run down time, Albert Johannsen had put Leeds in front against the run of play in the first half. Brian Woodhall got two for the Owls at the start of the second half on one of his rare first team appearances, and John Ritchie "hit" the third near the end - a miss hit from the edge of the box that Gary Sprake somehow misread - pretty much like Ritchies equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Hillsborough on the Saturday. One of the most memorable wins in my time supporting Wednesday and doubt if you'd get an atmosphere like that on a Saturdat afternoon.
  6. 🤣🤣🤣 Nope......................................................
  7. Ban on rubbish burning in most of rural France due to fire risk. Don't fancy the 600ft climb uphill from the nearest shop on a bike carrying several days worth of shopping.
  8. What makes people think that all Sheffield homeless congregate / beg in the city centre?
  9. Try living in the French countryside with no public transport and the nearest decent shops 10km away. No bin collections from your property - rubbish taken to the nearest set of communal bins often a km or two away.
  10. Will raise a glass to that 🍻
  11. Pray tell the differences between terraces from Manchester and Sheffield from say 1900, or high street shops from the 50's and 60's, post war suburbs etc. Main difference I'ne noticed over the years was maybe brick colour - although hardly when most cities were uniformly black due to smoke up to at least the early 70's.
  12. Nor like Israel in using the army to aid land grabs to seize territory on the West Bank.
  13. Easier to remember than COYRAWW that appears to be favoured of late,
  14. Nah - UTB = Under the Bridge = Troll.
  15. So how many beggars do you see on the streets of Sheffield? Nowt like the 4,000 homeless. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1e88ydp358o
  16. Only about T&C for staff, school days / holidays, and not following the national curriculum as far as I can tell from the HMG website. https://www.gov.uk/types-of-school/free-schools#:~:text=Free schools are funded by,processes like a grammar school. "Free schools are funded by the government but are not run by the local authority. They have more control over how they do things. They’re ‘all-ability’ schools, so can not use academic selection processes like a grammar school. Free schools can: set their own pay and conditions for staff change the length of school terms and the school day They do not have to follow the national curriculum."
  17. Which given the high level of homelessness in Bournemouth would be pretty much a certainty. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp4pvpxe8dxo https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/23993211.hundreds-people-will-homeless-bcp-christmas/
  18. Torygraph has been doing them for as long as anyone can remember 😄
  19. A drink is too wet without a fag , a fag is too dry without a drink, according to our lass. I agree wholeheartedly.
  20. How many people can live in a country where they choose to live? Reckon I'm one of a tiny minority as I moved to France due to a combination of an inheritance, 40 odd years of savings to a personal pension, and owning a house in Sheffield I can rent out.
  21. https://www.newsweek.com/us-give-iran-150-billion-barack-obama-jack-posobiec-1835083 "The U.S. did not "give" $150 billion to Iran in 2015. In 2015, as part of an international deal with Iran called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Iran agreed to cut back on nuclear enrichment programs in exchange for the unfreezing of its own assets."
  22. Well I suppose we can be thankful it wasn't a Trump bible - or was Truss signaling she needs another two goes to really finally sink the UK economy 😎
  23. The Head seems to have a rather individual take on "secular"; https://www.newstatesman.com/comment/2024/04/michaela-school-ban-prayer-ruling-katharine-birbalsingh She is keen to stress that secularism is not the absence of all faith, but the search for a uniting value. “We sing ‘God Save the King’ because our country and our flag unites us,” she says. How is that different from a CofE school? /?
  24. From what I can gather, it appears any school receiving state funding should provide a "daily act of worship" under the terms of the 1998 Education Act. https://humanists.uk/education/parents/collective-worship-and-school-assemblies-your-rights/ “…each pupil in attendance at a community, foundation or voluntary school shall on each school day take part in an act of collective worship.”
