From what I've read you could be penalised. Having said that, the cops/VOSA/DVLA know that you've paid for a new disc and it's in the post, so I doubt you would be penalised. I would hope common sense would prevail...having said that, I can't find this scenario on the DVLA website...and having said that, do the cops/VOSA/DVLA know what common sense is?

Why do you think muggers would want to fight vigilantes? I believe, by definition, muggers are cowardly scum who pick on vulnerable people. As far as I can see they don't pick on people that could fight back, that would make their 'job' more difficult. Hope the victims aren't mentally scarred by this. I also hope the muggers get what they deserve...and you can read that however you like.

After years of consideration my wife and I have decided we'd like to get a border terrier pup. We are relocating to a new house in a few months which means we finally feel able to house a dog in a comfortable environment. We're moving to a village where there are plenty of fields to exercise the dog daily. We have two sons, a 5 year old and 19 month old, both adore dogs. My wife doesn't work so the dog wouldn't be left alone for long periods. The research we've done would suggest a border terrier would fit nicely into our family. We are flexible on the sex of the canine, but I'd personally prefer a female. Does anyone have any advice on my choice of dog? Does anyone know any reputable breeders in the Sheffield area? Thanks.

Any Groups/Classes for 5 year olds?
fairbrom replied to ceevee's topic in Sheffield Sport & Activities
I have a 5 year old son. He used to attend Karate in Woodhouse (not interested anymore). He plays football with a team in Woodhouse. He goes to swimming lessons with the Sheffield Swim School. He goes to gymnastics at Don Valley on Saturday mornings. There's plenty of things for 5 year olds to do. Dance classes also take 5 year olds...although he won't do that as he'd be the only boy! -
Anyone know where I can get locally produced honey?
fairbrom replied to tinsel_ninja's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I've been taking honey capsules from the honey trail for the past 3 months. It's too late for anyone to start taking them this year for them to have a positive effect on your hayfever, you need to take the capsules from March/April so you can get a resistance in your system. When I first started using them I came out in hives (this isn't a joke, bees - hives etc.), but they went after about a month. Until the last week I didn't have any signs of hayfever. I usually get it bad, I have asthma and dodgy skin too, so all 3 together in summer can be a nightmare. I have to say I hadn't noticed anything til the last week when the pollen levels have been really high (I also went on holiday for a week and forgot to take the capsules, so that can't have helped). I'm still undecided about it all. Maybe I'll post an update towards the end of summer. -
Amazingly, you can buy all sorts of fruit of veg. This is totally amazing and totally true. We also have electricity, running water and ice rinks.

Belting Son Acceptable? Sheffield Star
fairbrom replied to Internetowl's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
One of my colleagues just did something wrong at work, so rather than talk to them and explain what they did wrong and how I'd like them not to it again, I just slapped them across the wrist. I'm pretty sure they got the message. If they didn't, I'll slap their legs next time. Can anyone tell me what I slap after legs? -

I feel so strongly about this. Children should not be hit, end of story. It shows a lack of parenting skills if you have to go around hitting your children. I don't want to go down the road of fit parents...some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids, but that's another thread. I'm a father of 2 and have never and will never hit my children. I have 2 well disciplined children who realise if they do something wrong they will be punished (following a warning usually), be that not having any sweets for a day, or watching TV that day, or something similar. I just don't see how using violence to end a disagreement with a child is correct? One things for sure, the first thing a kid will do that is beaten at home is hit other another kid once they start losing an argument at school. I'm riled. -
Anyone heard of "Residential Coatings Limited" ?
fairbrom replied to fairbrom's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Thanks to all that have replied. You've reinforced the feelings I had. I'll steer clear of anything/anyone like this. Problem I have is that my house is pebble dashed (not my choice, it was on when I bought it! although I did decide to buy the house............). Some areas of the pebble dashing are starting to fall off - so I guess the whole lot needs pulling off and re-rendering? Again.........any advice gratefully received!! I guess what I'm looking for now is anyone that could recommend a decent rendering service / builder etc? -

Cheers, Strix. I think I'll be on here a bit, seems like there's a decent community and could be a fair bit of decent advice knocking about.
