I have just posted and immediately received a high risk security alert saying ' Attempt to connect to local computer using the backdoor/subseven trojan horse blocked' What does it mean and do I have to do anything??????

Perhaps school isn't really the best place for kids to learn about sex. Mabe we as parents should be sitting our kids down and telling them about sex in a way that emphasises the importance of love, relationships and respect, rather then merely the act of sex. One thing worth mentioning here is that when the teenage pregnancy rate is worked out it includes all teenagers up to and including 19 years old. This takes in married teenagers as well, so like all things involving statistics it is slightly misleading.

I was brought up in Woodhouse and can remember our number being Woodhouse and then 4 digits. To get a line to Sheffield you first had to dial 9. Our phone was one of the old fashioned bacolite ones with a big metal dial. God that makes me sound old

Ridgeway and Killamarsh are in Derbyshire but have 0114 tel numbers so the exchange must extend over county boundaries

Sorry but I have to disagree. I don't find it offensive but it's hardly a dignified pose for the poor child. Can't think what the parents are thinking of allowing it to be printed. Perhaps Kitty you aren't aware of just how much pedaphilia there is around these days. As a mother I am (sadly) constantly on the lookout for things which may be putting my children at risk. Would you like to be photographed sat with your legs wide open

Well then Cycleracer it's obviously a load of bull. If you have 5 children then there isn't anything wrong with your virility. I don't have a problem with the description of your side effects but hey it can't be doing them any good
-
Did anybody see the latest report on cycling? It may be wonderful for the environment and your general health but not so good for your naughty bits Apparently, men who cycle run the risk of reducing their virility and women also risk damaging their bits too. It's all in the shape of the saddle you see. Any cyclists here with children who can disprove this theory. What gets me is that people must actually get paid for doing this type of research WHY

I think that accents are wonderful but the Birmingham one does get on my nerves. Any of you 'outsiders' recognise the different accents within South Yorkshire Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield/Rotherham are all very distinct and different. When I lived down south they seemed to think that all northerners spoke the same with the obvious exceptions of Liverpool,Birmingham and Geordie.

Most of you lot are young enough to have gone through sex education lessons at school. When I was at school it was reproduction in biology and the odd mumbling here and there from the PE mistress about periods. Why then do we hear that the numbers of teenage pregnancies in GB are the highest in Europe and occurance of STDs reaching mad levels It seems to me that more knowledge about sex = more sex happening. Am I right? [Michael_W : Capitalised Title]

Can anybody remember Pippeys shop on a side road just off the moor. Think it was the bottom of the road where Coles is. Lots of hippyish things like ethnic clothing, joss sticks, Anne Summers type equipment ( if you get my drift), 'smoking equipment' etc. It all sounds so run of the mill these days but it was very far out at the time.

This explains everything

What is this mysterious British National Identity, were you all robots from the same defective manufacturing plant? Good God you poor soulless creatures! Why can't we have a sense of cultural identity and be proud of it!!!! Ethnic minorities in this country, though happy to live here still retain their own cultural identity ie non wearing of crash helmets, eating meat killed an an inhumane way, being taught in their mother tongue etc etc. They are fiercely protective of their culture and identity. Why then when a white Brit talks of identity do some of you immediately start ranting RASCIST. By the way could you ever see any of the middle eastern countries changing their national flags to represent Brits living there? I think not.

Simon Groom has a farm out Matlock way. I believe he breeds pigs (the spotty ones). He originates from up here and came back 'home' from London (having lived in London myself for 3 years I can't say that I blame him).

Sounds like you are on a token acceptor. £8/week debt collection sounds a lot to me but then it depends how much you owe. That works out at £104 per quarter before you've used any electricity. YE were taken over by nPower and I'm not sure of their policy but I would say that the amount collected should be manageable for you. If you are having difficulty do contact them and explain and they should try to help you sort it out. Good luck

I might be able to help as I used to work for YE. Is this a pre-payment meter we are talking about here or a token meter

Day of Shame for Sheffield City Council (Lydgate)
Mo replied to ShefEducation's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Sorry maxt but I thought that was why we elected councillors so that they could look after our interests as constituents. I know that if I have a spineless councillor who doesn't or won't speak up for my area then that area will get sod all. Been there done that. I was a member of a mainstrean party for 25 years and believe me that party is dictated to from the top. If you think that it can be changed then you are living in cloud cuckoo land. All oppostion is squashed one way or another usually by arranging a deselection or marginalisation. I have banged on enough on this forum about candidates standing as Independents many times. I stood at the last election and was within 41 votes of taking the seat (had I taken some from the established councillor). Believe me Independents are gaining seats everywhere because people are pig sick of their interests being put AFTER the interests of party politics. -
Caramac for def It was just soooo scrummy

Until all schools are equal in the standard of education that they provide (which they never will be) some people will go out of catchment area. I am one of those people and even if my kids went to our catchment school I would still use my car as it is almost 2 miles away. Also many parents send out of catchment for religious reasons. IMHO the cause of traffic congestion is down to a free for all in public transport. Since de-regulation it has been in one hell of a mess.
-
Me, I favour dogs. They get you out for exercise that you probably(in my case) wouldn't take. They love you unconditionally and respond to you in a way that in my opinion cats don't. If they leave a mess it can be cleaned up as you know where it is and they protect you. Cats on the other hand are more inclined to cupboard love. They kill the birds and c*** all over my garden. What do you all think? I Think I know what Kitty will favour. Also Moon Maiden do you have a cat and is it black (or does that go with the broomstck and cauldron stereotype)

I think you've once again misunderstood the difference between an argument and an opinion. Mike is talking from a position of knowledge, his partner works in the arena of drug misuse, as I understand it. Mo, Mikey, KittyKat, and yourself are merely presenting opinions, generally gleaned from the pages of the tabloid press. If any of you could come up with any reasoned arguments based on studies or government figures then we might have more respect for your positions. IMHO Lets get one thing straight maxt I do not read the tabloid newspapers. I am quite capable of making my own opinions up thank you very much after reading 'quality' print. I am saying no more on this thread but back up t020. I too think that you are patronising to people who may choose not to blind people with facts and figures. We live in this society just like you and can form opinions from what we see and hear on a daily basis. We do not need to quote some government report or statistics to validate our points. Thank you and good day sir

Welcome Brigantes and happy posting

Oh t020 you are soooo funny. Behave now we've been consored. I'm saying no more on the matter.

Yet another moving thread...(area suggestions)

Yes I agree with all that Cycleracer says but your money definitely would buy far far less in Dore than it would in Renishaw. Eckington is good and on the edge of open countryside and only about 5 miles from Chesterfield. We live near there and are well happy. Where in Bradford did you live as my husband is from there -
Yes t020 I was begining to realise that was the case hee hee
