  3. FRANCE TO FORM "NEW EUROPEAN UNION" France announced today that it has decided to "rip up every bloody European Treaty and start again" by forming an entirely New European Union (NEU) consisting solely of itself. The decision was made by President Jacques Chirac after a report by the French Government revealed that the EU was becoming overrun with foreigners "many of whom don't agree with the French." The report highlighted the original aims of the European Union that were clearly designed to support French interests, provide subsidies for French Farmers and "stop Germany repeatedly invading us" France now feels that these ideals have been lost and many countries "expressing no gratitude whatsoever for all we've done for them" are now starting to show worrying signs of independence. The enlargement of the EU to include many poor Eastern European countries causes France particular concern, especially their "greedy and unjustifiable" demands for agricultural subsidies which "properly belong to the people of France". It is believed that the recent letter of support for the US from many European countries including the UK, Spain, the Czech Republic and Italy was the final straw prompting accusations of the Americanisation of Europe. "When these minor league no-hopers align themselves with an autocratic, imperious, selfish country that thinks only of itself instead of France, it is clear things have gone too far. Their childish and juvenile behaviour marks them out as petulant and infantile," Mr Chirac exclaimed, after angrily storming out of the latest EU meeting, slamming the door and refusing to come back in unless everybody agreed to "play by his rules." When the other countries refused, Mr Chirac employed other diplomatic tactics including holding his breath until he went "bright red", screaming and screaming until he was sick and rolling around and beating his fists on the floor. When these also failed he then announced the formation of the NEU. The French are only including themselves in the initial membership of the NEU and are expected to maintain control of all of the decision making bodies and writing all of the treaties, however it is thought to be keen to invite other countries to join in the not too distant future. The countries will be expected to meet rigorous selection criteria including "speaking French, hating America and capitulating to every last one of our demands." However, France has promised that its foreign policy will not be tied down by what bit calls the "outmoded and judgmental promotion of democracy". Instead, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Prime Minister of France, claimed that France will use the NEU for "promoting the ideals for which France is justly famous. Liberty to sell arms to whomever we like, fraternity with all people of the world as long as you take our agricultural products and we don't have to take yours and equality for all French speakers." In return, it is expected that France will offer a combination of goods and services including access to exceptionally cheap wine, cut-price Nuclear power stations and some of the "best security information NATO has to offer"
  4. One more usful tip though, if you right click on my Computer and check your hardware device manager, by clicking properties and device manager. If there is a yellow exclamation mark next to your monitor, it is a definate that your card is a fault. As I say, email me if you have any further queries or questions.
  5. It is more or less an absolute caertainty its your graphics card. If you have a warrenty, now is the time to use it, if not, you should have a recovery disk, as most computers now have all componants built onto the motherboard, and the recovery disk will have all drivers etc on it. If you havew any futher problems, email me and I will try to talk you through it in a bit more detail. My email address is [email protected].
  6. To be honest, if it is changing and holding while in use, but keeps blanking out altogether, it may be that your Graphics card is faulty. Just a couple more questions, what operating system are you using, and roughly how old is your PC.
  7. Is it doing this following a reboot or does it occur while in use?
  8. SADDAM LAYS DOWN WEAPONS WITH "PEACE AND JOY IN HEART" Following world-wide marches for peace the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has today laid down all his weapons of mass destruction, ended all state sanctioned torture and executions, and declared Iraq to be a "centre of universal joy, love and harmony." Peace, Protest and Shopping! The President, standing on the steps of Baghdad jail, declared that his "soul had been touched" by the supportive actions of hundreds of thousands of people all over the western world. "I am so bowled over by this" he continued "that I have decided to end my nuclear weapons programme, offer up all my chemical weapons to Hans Blix - bless him - and immediately hand myself in to the War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague. What's the address again? Can I take a bus?" Saddam's two sons Uday and Qusay then came forward to the microphone and - sinking to their knees - proclaimed that following the "outpourings of love and affection" from the protesters they too had decided to mend their ways and - from now on - end their programmes of Iraq-wide mutilation, rape and kidnappings and enter a "contemplative life devoted to the teachings of Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and - most saintly of all - Mother Theresa". Speaking for the Iraqi Republican Guard General Ali al-Majid, now bedecked with CND badges and pictures of sweet little Kurdish children formally announced "the total retreat of the Iraqi army from Kurdish areas, the ending of eye-gouging and mass rapes for a trial period and - most humane of all - the conversion of all torture chambers into softly padded bouncy castles - the kids will love it!" Liberally spreading flowers and dispensing justice and harmony in equal measure, Saddam's half brother Barzan Al-Tikriti then came forward and asked for forgiveness. "What's the murder of several thousand members of the Barzani tribe between friends? Okay, okay I was young - all forgiven now though I'm sure!" he proclaimed as he was suddenly surrounded and mobbed by a crowd of several hundred peace loving 'human shields' recently arrived from Oswestry. Greeting the news in London, crowds of protestors started cheering, with Mexican waves breaking out spontaneously. Protestor Laura Webb said, "It's clear that bombing a country, removing the genocidal totalitarian leadership and liberating its people is simply not the way to effect change. What we needed was crack teams of twittering, middle class liberals to go on a lovely, lovely march. How right I was. Ooh, there's Charles Kennedy over there!" Warming to the theme, Stephen Knight of the Peace and Love Liberation Lib Dem Army said, "well, I know Saddam is not a very nice man but really," he whined, "you can't effect change in a country with military action. Look at Afghanistan. Look at Bosnia. Do you remember the Second World War you twits? I was all in favour of sending Saddam a tart note, or looking very stern or something. This has all gone to show how right I was!" as he then went off to Selfridges for a Saturday afternoon shopping spree. Speaking to the Brains Trust, Middle East expert Dr Hugo Al-Hackenbush said, "it's true, a war on Iraq could kill many thousands of innocent people. But that's not what's important. What's important is that a few B-list celebrities, several hundred thousand well-fed, middle-class liberals - and Charles Kennedy - get a lovely day out in the beautiful sunshine and the chance to say how awful Tony Blair is. What could be more satisfying than that?" Meanwhile, Saddam, now dressed from head to toe in sackcloth and ashes, with a dozen beautiful doves resting on his shoulders - a small badged picture of Charles Kennedy resting on his lapel - said, "It's true. I have been a little heavy handed in the past. 150 000 Shia Moslems here, a few thousand Kurds there. Systematic rapes, torture, eye-gouging, the starvation of my people, the use of chemical weapons. The deaths of millions in the war with Iran. The invasion of Kuwait. I was a bit misguided, it's true. But the sight of hundreds of thousands of good liberal people, marching up and down the streets of Paris, New York and London, marching for my right to continue my regime, to do the hell I like, to stay secure in my borders and rule my people the only way I know how - it brought a tear to my eye. And it would have brought tears to the eyes of most of my prisoners as well, had they any left. Falaqa, anyone?" Taken from http://www.brainstrust.org
  9. Voice of reason. Like you I don't not differentiate by colour, racism or dicrimination of any kind is abhorrant and should not be tolerated. Also, I agre that those in genuine need of help should not be refused asylum or entry, it is our morla obligation. However, my doubt is that not everyone who wishes to claim asylum are genuine and this is the problem. I have no problem whatsoever with immigrants, providing they are genuine asylum seekers or have skills which will add to our economy. I believe the problem to be more complex than anyone ever anticipated it ever being, and there has to be an answer. My initial rant was at the state of the country as a whole, not just the asylum issue. By virtue of the fact that most replies to my post have highlighted the Asylum problem, just shows the depth and conviction of feeling this issue is causing. Whatever your views on the matter, the fact remains that this country is dying on its feet and something needs to be done now.
  10. The BBC seems to be run as a profit making business, what with videos and rights being sold to the highest bidders. And if so where do the profits go? Certainley not into cheap to make reality television and other assorted tosh that the BBC insults our intelligence with. The BBC makes enough money, and given the variety of choice through satelliete, why should we continue to be taxed to pay for a channel that doesnt deliver?
  11. Thank you, there were some very reasoned and well thought out arguements in your reply Richard. However, I didn't want to come across as stating all asians are more racist than whites, I was trying to put my point across that you find prejudice on both sides. As for Europe, I still feel that our best interests lie in taking control of our own legislation. The European Union is a beauracratic monolith which is slowly chokeing the life out of several of our industries, like fishing etc. while providing a gravy train for the unelected commisioners (or should that be Commisars?). I agree that yes, Sheffield has recieved money from Europe, but face it, the country puts in far more than it takes out. As for the PC minority, and my statement that they create racism where it doesn't exist. Thje way I see it, is that the PC brigade are segregating people themselves. The recent fuss over stop and search, the campaining for rights for minorities (why not campaign for rights for the elderley, disabled or those in true hardship too), while ignoring the rights of others is discrimination like it or not. Also by denying our heritage, calling for the removal of the Union Jack in public places and generally labelling anyone who dares suggest celebrating St Georges day a racist, creates racism where it is not there. Also the lunatic that tried to ban Christmas in Red Cross shops for fear of offending minorities shows Political Correctness has gone to far. As for the disgrace of Labour management of Sheffield. The Supertram killed hundreds of small businesses off in the Hillsborough area, and I believe that it still is. Ok, it may run to Hillsborough but I am still of the opinion it is a white elephant. The student games was a disaster from start to finish, the fact we are paying higher council tax is due to the fact that the city went into massive debt over it. As for the NHS, poor management both by polititians and administrators are what is killing this. Scarcely a day goes by without reading about a lack of beds, underfunding etc. I don't have all the answers for this, but i do know I would cut down on management and make that funding available for care. And now to Asylum. I truly believe we should help those less fortunate than ourselves, and yes, if I was in that situation and I had family in another country then that is the country I would head for. But how many have got family in this country I wonder? The recent articles about a hostel being created for 400 single men begs the question, why would they need hostels if they had family? Until I see undisputable proof that we are not the soft man of Europe then I stand by my comments. That is not to say I disagree with welcoming those in need or those who can bring skills to our country, but i think we should have much tighter border controls and people wishing to apply for asylum should be subjected to stringent checks before allowing them in, if that means detaining them while their applications are processed then so be it. I also agree with you about what you said about the areas. I know a lot of Asians and they are all good people. And it may surprise you that many in the Asian community agree with what I have to say. Also, my statement about rights first for UK citizens is not aimed purely as the white section of the community, but for all races who live in this country and hold British Nationality. My point is more the right to govern ourselves and the right to pass our own laws, not the issue over housing etc. Apathy in the electorate is due solely to the terrible mis management of this country. A lot of people have problems with the current setup, which I covered in my first post. The police unfortunatly seem to be led by donkeys who would rather catch people in cars than investigate crimes against property or person. Also, the PC brigade are responsible for the criminal to have far more rights than the victim. Wrong. My post was intended to show the perspective from the other side, the one that generally gets overlooked by the media etc. The country is on its back at the moment. Poor leadership and deep division. But unfortunatly there is no alternative to the current scenario, so things must change before it is too late and we pass the point of no return and anarchy.
  12. Thanks for the vote of confidence, as I stated above, I would be only too happy to stand as an independant candidate, however the problem in the first instance is finance. And that about concludes my problem with it! It is truly a shame that this country is selling itself short to Europe at the cost of jobs and traditional industries which communities depend on are disappearing at an alarming rate. Unfortunatley at the moment there doesn't seem to be any dissenting voices against giving our soveriegnety away in Parliament, the only onces are a few journalists who are described as Xenophobics, Little Englanders, and other derogatory terms. Also, it is interesting to note, that Xenophobia will soon be a crime. Is this a ploy to silence those who oppose an integrated Europe? I honestly think there is freedom of speech, but only if you say what the ruling classes want to hear!
  13. Do you honestly believe that our government and the US government would be so stupid to take over the oil fields of Iraq, after the furore caused by those syaing that is the aim? Personally I dont believe that for a second. It would cost them dear come election time. Both the UK and US govenment have stated that the oil belongs to the people of Iraq, therefore the oil fields will be returned to their rightful owners not the mad dictator we have now. I truly hope this is the case. Oil is not worth more than human life, I agree with the stated aims and I trust them to carry it out with the minimum of civilian casualties. I cannot percieve this as a war for oil, a war to remove a dictator hell bent on destruction yes, maybe a way for the US to gain another ally in the middle east by providing a sympathetic gvernment to assit the war on terror possibly. What I fail to understand is the people who believe Hussain should be mollified and allowed to remain in power. A reasonable arguement please!
  14. IT services and Network manager in the city centre.
  15. Only a fool actually wants war, but surely the people who are currently handwringing and going on marches to protest can see the big picture. Saddam Hussein is a tyrant who actively oppresses his own people and is a danger, not only to the middle east but to the world. I agree with the other posters who say he should have been taken out the first time, but it was the Anti-War brigade who kicked up such a fuss that stopped this occuring. So now 12 years down the line, Saddam is still making a mockery of the UN, see todays news for example, the weapons inspectors have found missiles which contravne UN resolutions! He needs taking out and need now. Lets be honest though, it cannot and will not stop there. North Korea has started up a Nuclear program and has already stated they will fire first if neccessary. Al Qaeda seem to be gearing up to kill more civillians, in our owncountry, we have religious fanatics whose self declared purpose is to destroy us and our way of life. Do these marchers think that sitting round a campfire, holding hands and singing peace songs really think that it is going to change their views and life a nice, orderly peaceful life. Get real, if and when a major terrorist incident happens or should we do nothing about Hussain and Korea, they will have the blood of many thousands of innocent people on their collective hands. Ok, there may well be civillian deaths in a conflict with Iraq, something we should all fear and abhor, but the big difference is the enemys of democracy will actually try to kill civilians, whereas our stated aim is to take out their military and provide stability and peace for future generations.
