I went up Birley Lane the other night following a works function and there must have been 5/6 cars lined up on the dusty layby.... what's going on?

I join the A57 at Anston and have noticed the increase in traffic over the last few months. Part of the problem may be the amount of lorries cutting across from the A1 to the M1 - why don't they use the M18? - they don't save any time and just add to the ever increasing volume!!
