  1. Thanks for that suggestion. If I remember rightly we also received a copy of the Land Registry entry and ground plan. I'll dig it out and see what it says.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I'll pop round and have a chat with the neighbours, i'm sure between us we can work out whose is whose.
  3. Hi all. Is there a hard and fast rule about which boundary fence is ours and which belongs to our neighbour or can someone tell me how I can find out please?? We're wanting the fence replacing and thought as we'll be doing 2 side (back and whichever is ours) we may as well have the other side done too as it's all a bit ropey looking. We aren't expecting the neighbour to contribute as it's not entirely necessary, we just wanted to get their opinion and their permission first. Thanks!!
  4. Do it yourself. It's easier than you think and you don't lose 25% of your compensation! I sent a standard template letter you can download off the internet. They replied and enclosed a questionnaire for me to complete. Filled it in, sent it back and this weekend got a reply saying we're upholding your complaint and I got £2500 back. I sent all correspondence by recorded delivery so all in all it cost me about £3.
  5. Hi all! For anyone with a LO moving onto solids..... I was looking for a small chopper to make homemade baby food, was going to order the kenwood mini chopper from amazon but whilst in Asda (Handsworth) over the weekend I came across a better deal. Asda's own make mini chopper, was £9.50 (or £9 something) rolled back to £6! So far have pureed veg and meat and it's worked fine. Haven't tried anything raw in it like onion etc so can't comment on that but for baby food it's ideal.
  6. I never even considered ebay! I'll have a look on there and see what they've got. Thanks for the suggestions.
  7. Hi all Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy a fire surround? We're after a stone/marble effect. Will be for an electric fire. Did a quick Google search and it brought one up called Peak Fire Surrounds near Woodhouse, anyone even bought from them? Any good? Thanks!
  8. Hi all Ok this may be a daft question but...... We have an upstairs and downstairs bay window. The bit in between that joins them is currently sort of tiled, it has small redish tiles on it. Some are loose so we're thinking of having it re-done. Not necessarily with tiles, i've seen other houses with different coverings. Now my question is what is that section of the house called? Does it have a specific name? And what kind of tradesman would do this kind of work? Thanks!
  9. Hi all Can anyone recommend somewhere nice for a meal for my mum's 65th. We'll have a 10 year old and 5 month old with us so needs to be family friendly and we'd want to eat about 6pm. Only cuisine my mum isn't really into is Indian. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the replies. She was thinking of doing the catering but as you can't use their fridges I think it was the issue of where to keep the food until it's needed that put her off. There's a few more venues in that area though so i'm sure she'll find somewhere suitable.
  11. Hi all My friend is considering this venue for her baby's christening do. Has anyone ever had a function here and would you recommend it? Also did you have their catering or do your own? Thanks!
  12. Thanks for the replies. I think sometimes it just helps to know other people are experiencing the same issues. He went to nannan and granddads yesterday afternoon and went to sleep without any crying for them, little sod We put him to bed an hour later last night hoping he'd sleeping in a bit later, didn't work! Sleeps for wimps anyway
  13. Hello mums! Im after some advice from people whom have been there and survived! So dad, grandma, anyone, i'd be happy to hear your opinions too. I'm mum to a 4 month old boy. He's the most amazing thing ever as i'm sure all parents think their child is. We've got him into a good night time routine, he goes to bed about 6pm, sleeps through till about 4am and has a feed (formula) and then sleeps till about 6.30. The problem I have is getting him to sleep at nap time. I try and spot the tired signs, fussing, rubbing eyes etc but as soon as I try to get him to sleep he just screams. I've tried giving him a bottle first but that doesn't help and it doesn't always fit in with his feed time. I eventually get him to sleep by rocking him in my arms but he cries and won't lay still. I can see how tired his eyes are which makes it all the more frustrating. 4 months old is still young, am I just expecting too much and will he grow out of this? I've read that many books and websites, they make it sound so easy, it starts to make you feel inadequate. He's currently fast asleep laid on me, I don't mind at all, I just don't want to get him into the habit of needing to be held to take a nap. I should add that at night time he goes to sleep on his own. Sometimes have to run up and downstairs a few times to put his dummy back in but then he drops off and we don't hear from him until about 4am. Are you sure they don't come with instruction manuals and I just forgot mine?!? I bought a kettle the other day, it had a 6 page instruction manual, it's a kettle!! Mind you that's probably where I've been going wrong, reading too many books then worrying when it doesn't follow what the book says. Anyway sorry for the long post. I'd be grateful to hear how others dealt with nap time or if this is just a phase he'll grow out of. Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. I remember staying near Crantock as a kid in my mum and dad's tourer, happy days! Missy - never thought of a cottage, will look into in. Thanks all!
