  1. I may be in a minority but I'm not fond of subway, specially the prices. My husband on the other hand does like them. I would always look for an independant shop that offers a good choice of hot or cold sandwiches. Why not invest in a specially made catering van (not a converted old van) and buy a pitch at events. You could work part time and make loads of money. A friend of my husbands does that.
  2. I'm interested to know why businesses want to be in the City centre unless they are a shop. Even if they are a shop I can think of better places. I hate Sheffield centre and have been there less than ten times in over fifteen years.I used to love going into Sheffield in the early 1980s.
  3. In general I think its too early to make noise at 7am. I try to be quiet outside until about 9am to give neighbours chance to lie in if thats what they like to do. I don't think its unreasonable for bin collections to start at 7am though.
  4. Lazy devils. Hope you knock loud. At that age I used to come in from clubbing at 2.30-3am and be back up by about 8am. What a waste to sleep your life away.
  5. I got one of these about two years ago but not used it much. I don't seem to select the right knife for the right weight card as it doesn't always cut right through.
  6. I worked in a hospital lab and a brewery but I was 16 and 17 and at college when I did my works experience. Some places have age limits now due to insurance and can only accept people on site at 18 years old. Its worth ringing round yourself and asking the question.
  7. Unless doing shifts there is no reason to still be asleep at 7am. I used to do a shift from 2pm to 2am and get to bed about 3am. I was always up by 9am so why should 7am be a problem to most people? Don't forget they have to get back to the depot to tip so they can start again the next day.
  8. Unless my calculations are wrong you are a factor of 100 out on the above statement. By my calculations each can (15g) is worth 1p. Only worth it if you have a lot of cans.
  9. It doesn't have to be a strong mangnet if you are going to test the cans yourself one by one. It either 'sticks' to the can or it doesn't.
  10. Is it an insurance job? Is it just one small double glazed unit?
  11. Does anyone know of a company that recycles foam (not polystyrene). Its clean foam from a manufacturing process. I've tried the scrap store but they can only take a small amount. I was wondering about shredding it for packing material or a foam recycler but I can't seem to find anything using a google search.
  12. I got it collected by CF Booth in Rotherham. I am in the waste trade for a living.
  13. £650 is what I got last week as the lowest grade mixed ali. This included cans and coated window ali. Better grades ie ladders and posts approx £800, top grade window ali almost £1,000. It does depend if you take spot price on the day or if you have a deal for regular material and the price holds for a month.
  14. You can buy the centre bit off ebay to make cup cake stands out of two or three plates. Phone directly round places for donated items or put something on freegle.
  15. As carosi mentioned, not all cans are aluminium. I'm not sure what grade aluminium they are classed as. If they are mixed low grade they are probably worth around £650/ metric ton (1,000kg). Unless you have a large volume I would use the Tesco club card route.
  16. I will try waiting for Wilko then next year. Thanks
  17. How many per bag and how much please? Do they have lots of different types? I will know for next year if I should wait for Wilko or pre order from Thompson & Morgan and the likes like I did back end of last year. This is my first year with a veggie plot so I wasn't sure the best way to buy.
  18. Mine was almost 5ft high and had been planted for several years but I still lost it. It was in a sheltered spot and I left in there until the summer but it never recovered. I have a green one in a more exposed spot and that was fine. It seems the red/varigated ones are not as hardy (in our experience anyway).
  19. I'm only a small company but I purchased a back up drive which automatically backs up several times a day from my lap top or pc. It stays at home and we can rocover info from this if ever our pc was to break down. We had to learn the hard way too but luckily is was only private data not business data. My degree project was stored on my hard drive but we couldn't get it off when the pc broke. My husband is in computers and tried to get it back off the hard drive in the pc but didn't manage it. Its not expensive to get an external back up drive.
  20. Have you tried asking this in the craft section? I am on a craft forum (not this Sheffield one) and its a topic that crops up on a regular basis. The people on there do trade but some do it as a hobby. I will try to post the link for you. http://www.craftsforum.co.uk
  21. I would like to know how you get on as I have been considering it too. Are you selling business to business or to domestic market? I'm not sure if my target market would think of looking on here for my business services.
  22. Don't you back up your data on a hard drive or CD? I would speak to your accountant and ask their advice.
  23. I've been going to Retro at Killamarsh. I've been going there almost since it opened, can't remember how many years but it must be around 3 or 4 years. I've had acrylic nails for almost 7 years now. I muck animals out, dig the garden and wear gloves as I work with chemicals and I've never had a problem with my acrylic overlays. They use manual files as well, none of this machine filing where your nail bed can get damaged.
  24. Refrigerant (the thing that changes from liquid to gas and back again, does the cooling). This has to be degassed safely.
  25. You need to check their site licence first to see if they can accept it. You also need to see their carriers licence and have a waste transfer note. This applies to domestic as well as trade. A lot of scrap people just collect and cash in and are not licenced. I know this as I work in the waste industry.
