  1. Just wanted to tell everyone what a fabulous lunch we all enjoyed at my workplace which was hand made, delivered and served by Roney's. We were organising a 'Pie and Peas Up' fund raising event for St Luke's Hospice and all I had to do was phone Roney's and they brought everything including plates, knives and forks etc. They also took all the rubbish away afterwards! The pies were the best we've all tasted and all my workmates were commenting afterwards and asking who the caterers were. Craig and his Mum turned up in really smart uniforms and were super friendly and professional from start to finish. The pies were individually hand made - golden pastry, no soggy bits and the filling was delicious, no gristle or fatty lumps. I honestly couldn't recommend more highly and I am in no way related to them! We'd definitely use them again and I'll be going down to the shop as usual to get my sandwiches and pies. They are all so friendly and I truly hope everyone gets behind a great family business staffed by people who are providing really fab local produce. Good luck Craig and family!
  2. Snake to Sheffield and back to Hollingworth four days a week. There is one patch where there are temporary traffic lights to restrict it to one lane for safety from icy/slushy snow on the very steep climb towards the summit and a very nasty patch directly outside the farm near the Lockerbrook outdoor centre where you'd slow right down and use one side of the carriageway. There's a couple of slightly icy patches in other places, but other than that I've had no trouble and I only have a Renault Clio. I've kept the speed down a little and I've been happy.
  3. Has anyone driven the Snake Pass since the weather warning was reduced to hazardous conditions rather than closed? I have to drive it in about 45 minutes and just wondering what I'm in for...
  4. Hi everyone. My partner just phoned to say the Snake is open at 4.50. This morning I traveled from Hollingworth near Tintwistle to Sheffield by going on teh A6, through Chapel, Sparrowpit, by passing Buxton and then turn left at Baslow. It was fine, but adds about 15 mins onto the journey max99, in case you need a route for future.
  5. Hi xdbx No switch to change output. I'm putting the mini jack into the coaxial as this was illustrated in the user guide. It's an Alba so entry level price but it did say you could use it with your main TV. Must be summat daft I'm doing... thanks for any thoughts
  6. Hello everyone I have bought a portable DVD player for the little lad to use in the car and would also like to hook it up to the main TV in the house. The TV has two scarts and no RCA input. I have a SCART/RCA adapter which accepts RCA and S-Video. The dvd player has coaxial and AV out sockets. I also have a Thompson Sky box with all the usual possibilitiesfor connection. To connect the DVD to the telly I bought a composite cable from Maplins, which inuts the DVD with a jack, and to the telly with the red white and yellow RCAs. I can't get the DVD picture on the telly, I have tried both scart inputs and various AV channels on the telly. HELP!! I am going to have to pay someone at this rate and it's making me feel a right numpty. Thanks for any suggestions
  7. Thanks for this - perhaps I'm better sticking with £50-worth of Nokia and know that it'll be reliable.
  8. Does anyone know who makes Vodafone own brand mobiles? I fancy the 810 which looks like real value for money but I'm SO used to how my Nokia's have worked (texting in particular) that I have developed a loyalty. Any clues or experience anyone?
  9. Thanks Ghozer. Am going to try a new cable that will connect to my USB and hope this works, even though it says USB 2.0 on it. what a palarva, only wanted a cheap way of porting my music and nearly talked myself into a new computer!
  10. Hi This is far too complicated for me!...I have bought for cheap an older iPod (third generation I think) and my PC only has 1394 port, which looks as though it just charges, and does not support file transfer. I know I can get a USB/firewire cable-hub thingumy, but my USBs are not 2.0. I think I can update them with new drivers, but don't know how and this would need to be free as I only had the money to buy an older i-Pod in the first place and it's starting to get a bit silly. I know I could do with updating the USBs anyway, just don't know where to begin and when to call it a day with the struggle! Thanks for any tips, I am a real self taught novice, so treat me like the hard-of-understanding.
  11. Thanks everyone for helpful and happy replies and thanks Storm 123 for the offer of the rental - I confess I never thought about the insurance and the thought of damaging your lovely van worries me a little. I am with you all on the enthusiasm, I started camping/caravanning when I was in my early 30s, just need to get BF on board now, but I tell you, I am sick and tired of the palarva at UK airports and UK hols are more and more appealing! Cheers all, happy caravanning! Dawney
  12. Hi everyone I really enjoy touring caravanning, my partner is enthusiastc but a bit unsure it's for him. Does anyone know of a touring rental place or even better would anyone be willing to rent theirs out to us for a weekend somewhere local? This would give us a chance to try before we buy. We are 42 and 52 with no kids and so quite responsible! Thanks Dawney
  13. Can anyone help? I have a Grundig 32WF8000 which tunes in using the remote control and I don't have the instruction manual... the signal is brilliant through the Sky Box, but I want to connect to the DVD and the VCR so we can tape terrestrial channels (I'm right in thinking you can't tape a free to air Sky signal, yes?) Can anyone come up with any bright ideas to help? The menu button doesn't seem to turn anything useful up at all. Can't find a user guide on Grundig website. Help anyone?...Dawney.
  14. Thanks AJ - I am deeply suspicious of Setana, if you know what I mean...maybe we'll wait and see it on terrestrial or downlaod site. So annoying to know it's playing in Wales at 9pm and not be able to watch it. If I trusted the tickets for sale on e-bay I might go for those!
