  1. Hi Everyone, New public installation has been created called 'Sheffield Says' in the Moor Market. The project aims to celebrate Sheffield's creativity by commissioning different local artists to do work responding/celebration Sheffield's and it's culture. In the spirit of 'Art for All'. In the form of a giant letter S sculpture, title ‘Sheffield Says’ it dispenses new and emerging voices in creative arts. The installation developed uses low cost and low-fi printing methods with a bespoke setup and software, in the spirit of openness the software will be available on GitHub in the near future. We have launched the event with a serious of illustrations done by local students and graduates from Graphic Design & Illustration at Sheffield Hallam. Responding to the market and all it's beauty and quirks. We would love for people to visit Sheffield Says down at the market itself, but also feel free to have a gander at the project online at http://www.sheffieldsays.co.uk and our Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sheffieldsays/ Any artists wanting to get involved in future print runs (be it poetry, writing, illustrations etc...) please do email at info@sheffieldsays.co.uk
  2. We're two design students trying to collect some research in the form of recipes for our current project wanting to explore Sheffield's Food Culture, and particularly the traditions and interests people have when cooking at home. We would really like people if they had old or new recipes lying around, or even if they write their recipes down and photograph/scan them in, and send to our email at sheffieldrecipearchive@gmail.com We're interested in the lost tradition of recipe sharing by hand (obviously we do a lot of online sharing) and we really value the beauty of old and new recipes in that format. If anyone would be interested in getting involved do simply scan or photograph a recipe of your choice! and watch this space! Thank you to anyone that participates, and any general feedback or ramblings around this idea would be appreciated to! What are you thoughts on sharing recipes? do you still do it? did your grandparents? etc etc.
  3. Oh yeah I didn't mention this is a research project I'm doing for a design piece, so I'm mainly wanting to find out more about all the ins and outs of it, and really how accessible it is, and understanding the difficulties and dangers. My aim isn't necassarily to eat whats found anyway. But this feedback is all helpful and is pretty much what I'm after actually, gaining more of an understanding of what foraging is and whether we should or shouldn't be doing it.
  4. I'm doing a project on the accessibility of foraging in the city and the outskirts and I'm wondering what experiences people have, who knows good places whether it be berries, mushrooms or whatever. I've had a gander on past posts but they seem a bit dated. Any help or information would be good at this point!
  5. If you would be interested in perhaps taking part in an independent medieval film. Please email paleravenpictures@gmail.com with a brief overview of what you have done previously and a headshot. If you are successful the role unfortunately will be unpaid but will be a good experience and fun to shoot.
  6. Yeah I did think with the Match & More £5 Vouchers expired after a year. I work at Morrisons and we had a lot of people complaining when it first came out because they didn't notice that it said 2015 not 2014. The other vouchers do expire a lot quicker, but the Match & More are pretty good as you can save them up, and you can click an option online for your points to build up to and then decide to print them all at once which would also extend the expiry I presume doing it that way
  7. The vouchers have a year expiration date on them?
  8. Yes I agree. I guess theres no downside to having the signs for the pedestrians if it's increasing everyone awareness, but it would be better to have something like you've suggested that warns the drivers themselves.
  9. I'm doing some research as part of my degree about the perceptions people have on the Air Quality in Sheffield. I'm really interested in finding out just how much the general public know about the Air Quality in their city and what they can do as individuals to improve it. If you could do my survey it would be greatly appreciated https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jgrrL_r50BdQIwoVvsqfGN361hnQ6FLB6Lcl4aEHqTo/viewform but any general discussion on the topic would also be helpful! I really need a good variety of ages and people who take different types of transport would be interesting. Thanks in advance!
  10. I think it purely depends on what kind of shopping you do. My mum goes to her local Morrisons every week and gets £5 vouchers every other week. She then saves them up, we did this leading up to Christmas and got £60 all together which paid for our booze! Definitely can't complain.
  11. I live just round the corner from this bend and I did witness one of the accidents where I saw the back window smashed in. I was surprised myself that so many had happen in one week! But the signs are on both sides of the road and I'm not sure exactly how pedestrians can be that vigilant about it.
  12. Lots of teens hang around town, Devonshire Green and the Peace Gardens and such. Definitely a good shout when the weather is nice!
  13. Oh ok! yeah I heard it was about £25 ish, so i'll take down a bit more just incase thank you very much! Sounds good!
  14. I've just booked an appointment at Hoopers hair dressers on abbey lane, its just for a cut and style. I forgot to ask the price so I was wondering if anyone had an idea? or If they could tell me what its like down there, its the first time i've been. Thankyou!
