  1. Thank you. Would this be fairly easy repaired (or the power supply replaced? Do you think the power supply is likely to be specific to the Clavinova, or a fairy generic thing?
  2. My Clavinova is making a very load humming and crackling noise as soon as it's turned on. Does anyone know anyone who can repair it. The piano is pretty old - about 25 years, I think.. Thanks
  3. Thanks for this. Yes, as I mentioned, I know I can do it by using formulae but I'd realy like to know if I can use a pivot table. It's as much about assuaging my curiosity as getting the job done!
  4. Hi I have a table of survey data which looks like this: Person Question 1 Question 2 Question 3 Question 4 Question 5 Question 6 Person 1 Yes Maybe No No Yes Maybe Person 2 Yes Maybe No No Yes Maybe Person 3 Yes Maybe Maybe Yes Yes Maybe Person 4 No Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Person 5 Yes Yes No Yes Maybe Yes Person 6 Yes No Yes No Yes No Person 7 Maybe Maybe No No Yes No Person 8 Yes Yes No Maybe Maybe No Person 9 Maybe Maybe Maybe No Yes Yes Person 10 No No Maybe No Yes No I'd like to set up a pivot table which analyses it like this: Responses Question 1 Question 2 Question 3 Question 4 Question 5 Question 6 Maybe 2 5 3 1 2 3 No 2 2 5 6 0 4 Yes 6 3 2 3 8 3 However, whatever I do with the pivot table I can only get it look like this: Responses Question 1 Question 2 Question 3 Question 4 Question 5 Question 6 Maybe 2 2 2 2 2 2 No 2 2 2 2 2 2 Yes 6 6 6 6 6 6 So in this version, the responses to Q1 are repeated in each column. I know I can do this with formulae instead, but I feel there should be a way of using a pivot table, - I just can't get it to work! Can anyone help? Thanks
  5. I am using a pivot table in Excel to report on numbers of events per quarter of the year. By default Excel regards Jan - March to be quarter 1. Can I get Excel to work with our financial year so that Quarter 1 is April - June and so on? Thanks
  6. An article I was reading the other day referred to a bookshop at 233 Fulwood Road. This is where Record Collector now is. Can anyone confirm there was a bookshop there, probably in the 1970s. (I know there was one called the Broomhill Bookshop further up, on the other side of the Glossup Road junction, near the post Office). Thanks
  7. Yes, sorry for the confusion! I mean a Echo Dot (5th generation, 2022 release) smart Bluetooth speaker with Alexa https://www.amazon.co.uk/echo-dot-2022/dp/B09B96TG33/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2MMPTUECMMOXA&keywords=amazon+echo&qid=1687940195&sprefix=amazon+echo%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-1
  8. Thinking of getting one for a bedroom, Does anyone have one? What is the sound quality like? Thanks
  9. Anyone know if there are any coffee shops in the city centre open till 7pm? Thanks
  10. Thanks HallamGirl I created the macro just by recording my actions, not be writing VB code which is a bit of a mystery to me. Do you think your solution will still apply in this case? Thanks very much.
  11. I have created a macro which creates a pivot table of my raw data, on the same sheet as that raw data and this works fine. But if the macro asks Excel to create a new sheet of the picot table, I get an error when I run the macro: Run time error '5': Invalid procedure, call or argument Anyone know why?
  12. I am trying to get a friend's VM email working in Outlook on her new Windows laptop. I am repeatedly asked to give the email address and password which I know are correct because I can use these credentials to access her email on the VM website. Any suggestions? Thanks
  13. Does anyone know when next year's fixture list is published? I know the Premiership fixtures are published on 15 June - will it be the same for the lower leagues? Thanks
  14. Has anyone any recommendations for Chinese restaurants in or around Sheffield City Centre? If not, are there some good restaurants around the new Chinese quarter near St Mary's? Thanks
  15. Ghozer - thanks but I can't use Find and Replace because there are many cells where there are para marks I need to retain. If I have to Find Replace each instance and choose whether to replace or not, this will take ages and that's what I'm trying to avoid. trastrick - I think the solutions you've suggested assume that every cell has the extraneous character, whereas in my data only some of them do. But perhaps I can devise a formula along the lines: IF the first character is a para mark, then remove the first character, otherwise, do nothing.
  16. I need to tidy up some Excel data which has been pasted in from elsewhere. In a lot of cells, there is an extraneous paragrah mark at as the first character in the cell. Is ther any way remove these automatically? TRIM won;t do the job because it removes only spaces. I can't use Find and Replace because there are many cells where there are para marks I need to retain. Any other ideas? Thanks
  17. My partner wants to buy a Windows laptop to use in addition to her desktop, and would like all her files and photos to be accessible on both. She will have an Office 365 subsection. Is it a good strategy for her to put all her documents and photos in OneDrive? I assume she can choose whether or not to have local copies of files and if she chooses to do so, this will make backups a bit less important as she will have copies on two computers as well as in the cloud. (NB I'm not saying she shouldn't do backups at all!) I know there are many alternative online shortage options (eg Google Drive - do they work in a very similar way? But if she wants the Office 365 subscription in order to get the desktop applications, does it make sense to keep everything in Microsoft? I also have an Office 365 subscription on my Mac (though I don't use online storage. Would it make sense for me to upgrade this to a Family subscription, which we can both use. Does this kind of subscription keep all our documents, photos etc completely separate? Thanks!
  18. This is how my books are ordered on my shelves and I'd like my Excel catalogue to match this.
  19. Is there any way to get Word or Excel to alphabetise a list of surnames so that Mac and Mc are sorted at the beginning of the M section, as is done in some library catalogues and phone directories etc?
  20. Hi. Can anyone help with this little puzzle? In a simple form, I have a spreadsheet that looks like this: ID Name Item 1 Smith Red 1 Smith Apple 1 Smith Rose 2 Turner Blue 2 Turner Orange 2 Turner Daisy 3 Jones Yellow 3 Jones Pear 3 Jones Tulip 4 Taylor Green 4 Taylor Grape 4 Taylor Daffodil As you can see four people have each been assigned a colour, a fruit and and a flower (always in that order) However, I want the data in this format: ID Name 1 Smith Red Apple Rose 2 Turner Blue Orange Daisy 3 Jones Yellow Pear Tulip 4 Taylor Green Grape Daffodil How can I do this? Is it a job for XLOOKUP? I have tried this but not got it to work for me. (In my actual spreadsheet there are actually many hundred of lines of data). Many thanks
  21. Thanks but I think think this would be pretty laborious and I'd need to do it all again if the list changed!
