  1. I think it was a garage or vehicle works just before it closed. There are various burnt out buildings and a large inspection pit on site. There are also a few poles of very old trick tyres dotted around. This are could have been mined before this
  2. I went for a walk down pipworth lane this afternoon, I use to walk there quite often before lockdowns. I noticed at the end of the road at the turning circle there is a very old bridge that has large metal sheeting stopping access. Last time I was there there were lots of old trucks rotting on the bridge and also on the land over the river. This bridge and land is now derelict with all vehicles gone. Does anyone know what this area was used for and where the old vehicles went too? I've also heard about old tunnels around this area linked to the canal., again has anyone got any info? Thanks in advance
  3. Thanks for that. looks like a good walk to the pub and on the way back via the tarmac path on moss way as its lit
  4. i live in owlthorpe and i recently discovered all the lovely walks and paths in the area.I am trying to find a path from the donestk way tram stop to the British oak pub. does anyone know of a direct footpath without going via moss way?
  5. Hello does anyone know a good non rip off Mot garage in the halfway area? I use Hawleys who are brill for repairs but sadly they dont do MOTs. Id prefer one that opens Saturdays so i can drop my car off and leave it with them Thanks
  6. ubermaus why should the pub move ? it was there first and actually certain residents blast out drum and bass music at all hours at certain times, i have a friend who knows the area very well and this is a bigger problem then the "noise" from the long standing pubs. So its a case of glass houses and stones me thinks:loopy:
  7. cuttise i totally agree with you. Folk move in and try to change a great city to suit them and not what the city is. muddycoffee im sorry you are incorrect, one of the bands that played held its very first gig in that very pub 20 years ago. No plum faced Chelsea tractor driving muppets around then. A good friend spoke to me about this yesterday and told me of a estate that was built in new zealand that had trees nicey planted around it and some residents complained and wanted them chopping down cos of the noise of the birds singing!!! they were told by te council to f off!
  8. Why should a building that has held gig etc for over 20 years stop due to people moving to live near it. sorry but you made your bed and laid in it when u moved in. what next stopping traffic cos of road noise?
  9. My friends band has had to cancel a gig tomorrow night due to the flats nearby complaining about the noise. This pub had been there for many a year with no trouble and the flats are fairly new build. What i hate is new build flats in once "no go" areas and the area is now a yuppy heaven. The pub is and was there for the long gone factories, what right has someone who pays 250k for a studio flat to complain about a pub that was there long before the flats. Its a not in my back garden system, well im sorry u should have looked at the facts before buying over the odds for a lego house:loopy:
  10. Im looking for a good cheap garage in the halfway area that does brakes etc anyone had a great deal from a gargage? im sick of paying top dollar for work on my car:help:
  11. I saw Mark Thomas at the crucible on Thursday night and this was part of his show. If you think anyone on any of these lists has done anything wrong you are cleanly mistaken. One such person has a child by a CID police officer who after being with her for quite a few years and farthing the child just walked out calming it was part of his job as he had been spying on her with no reason given. Heads up folks, 1948 is very real and the world is watching us all:suspect:
  12. Has anyone had dealings with Crapper and Haigh estate agents? My mates having some probs with them. I dont want to go into much but its very much them always being in the right even when they are wrong and wont accept blame etc. Sorry to be a tad vague but ....
  13. I currently private renting with an agent but i am to go private with my landlord who is cutting out the middleman and going direct with me. I am not moving house , all is to remain the same except whom i pay the rent too. Does anyone know how i can transfer my depoist from my agents to my landlord?: Thanks for any help or advice
  14. Does anyone know any good places/ internet sites that offer good working from home jobs, such as stuffing envelopes , making cards etc.Im trying to make some extra cash when i come home from my day job. Thanks to all who offer help and replies
