  1. Hi all I am doing a bit of digging and would like to know what it is like to work at Stradbroke Childrens Home. If you work or have worked here, any information would be great. You can PM me and all information will remain confidential. The reason I am asking is I have seen vacancies are available for the second time in recent months (which sends alarm bells off tbh). I considered applying first time round and again am thinking about it, but would like a bit more information. I am not a stranger to residential units (but never children) and I plan to call for more information and possibly a visit to the unit but would like some first hand honest opinions as front line staff. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi After a little advice. I am currently seeking employment and thought the next step needs to be the dreaded agencies!! Which agency is most likely to get me work? I don't want to just be an added number for them to look good, I actually want a job!! Im looking for basic admin, clerical, data inputting etc. Thanks in advance
  3. Thanks everyone. I now have this covered with Del. Hope dogs are happy with choice and don't just keep barking at her lol.
  4. Hi folks I am looking for a dog walker who covers the Birley area. I will only need for a week 11th - 16th August. I have 2 dogs, a boxer and an American bulldog and both can be quite boisterous but generally are friendly. Will require someone with strong arms and strong mind. If you cover this area, are available that week and think that your the person for us please send us a pm. Or if you know anyone that fits the bill please let me know. Thanks in advance. ---------- Post added 03-08-2013 at 10:02 ---------- Thanks for the PM day-break but unfortunately pet-walkiz can't do it :-( So i'm still looking if anyone can help??
  5. I think it is Phil Jackson. If your interested you have to do a one to one session first because he likes to ensure a dog is suitable for group training.
  6. Thanks for this, I didn't even know you could do anything like this! I thought your mortgage was how it was and you couldn't do anything about it other than start borrowing more to cover yourself and then thats when you get deeper in a hole you can't get out of!! This option seems the best for me, so I will go and look into it further. I really don't want to leave or loose my home as I have woorked so hard to get it and have managed to keep it for 10 years so far. In answer to a previous comment, no I don't want to "cash in"! I am not a greedy person I just want to keep my home and was after some advice from other 'regular people' who may have been in a similar position to myself. Thanks for the support and back up guys x x heres hoping I can stay put x
  7. I have just read something about this. A child under a certain age is classed as half a person so you would be fine in your two bed. You may get less H/B if you move to a 3 bed, 1 spare room is 14% less and 2 or more spare rooms are 25% less H/B. Double check it though. It is new so i'm sure there are loop holes and exceptions!!
  8. Would that still apply to the HA properties you get nominated for via Sheffield Homes?
  9. Thanks for all your feedback. Its given me a lot of food for thought. Think I will have to do a bit more digging around in the private rental market to see if it would be more beneficial to rent whole house or just rooms!! Thanks again.
  10. Thanks for info chem1st but i'm not eligable for either of the two options anyway. I'm part of the average Jo generation that keeps getting missed out!! I'll muddle through some how. But if anyone can let me know if I can rent and continue to own my home I would much appreciate it. I am not planning on claiming any form of benefits as I know I wouldn't be able to get them as I have my home to fall back on in worse case scenario.
  11. I'm not registered with HA but i've got 8years with Sheffield Homes, thats why the idea popped into my head! As for renting out to strangers, I don't think I could. Sounds a great solution for those who can but just don't think that would work for me :-(
  12. Hi all I am after a little advice. I am considering renting my house out and moving into a smaller property with Sheffield Homes or Housing Association (depending on if I can get one). Someone told me I would have to sell my property, does anyone know if this is correct? I don't really want to sell as I have every intention of moving back once things improve. I know I would have to pay tax etc so I understand that part, I just need to know if I could rent my mortgaged home out and rent a home with local authority?? Thanks for help.
  13. I'd second the speaking to someone who knows what they are talking about as it can be an absolute mind field!! I'm not sure what is currently available but if you go for a tracker make sure it is a lifetime tracker so you are not tied in and can move it when the bank of england base rate goes up! If you don't want to take the gamble go for a longer term fixed rate approx 5 years. Don't be put off by a fee if it is a low rate, just make sure you do your maths to see if the fee is worth while paying. Oh and if your in unison don't forget you can get cheaper conveyancing and mortgage offers are available. Good luck, and happy hunting x
