  1. Enjoy learning about pregnancy yoga for each stage of labour with your planned birth partner; what breathing and labour massage techniques can help; what are the top ten things for a birth partner to bear in mind; what holistic tools can you pack in your bag ....... this is an invaluable workshop looking at how to use your body and your breathing to enhance your birth experience. Workshops last 3-4 hours and cost £75 per couple and are carried out with couples or in small groups. Dates are flexible, please get in touch for more information and to book. [email protected]
  2. Do you mean separation up the middle of the bump, what's termed diastasis recti, or in another area of your bump? I had diastasis recti with both of my pregnancies (though only really found out after I'd had my second last year). If it is this they will probably refer you to the women's health physio for exercises to help protect your back and support your bump. Talking it all through with your midwife will hopefully allow you to get some relief from the discomfort and help you make a decision with regards to work. Good luck x
  3. Really tough when you're feeling so sick. Sorry to hear about your previous losses as well. As someone else mentioned, anxiety can make you feel worse, so it could be that what happened before is making you feel more anxious about this pregnancy? Have you been able to talk through the loss of your twins? There's a new group that has recently been set up in Sheffield called Too Beautiful for Earth, which offers emotional support to women who have lost a baby at any stage of pregnancy, or during or just after birth. If you Google Too Beautiful for Earth Sheffield, it should be the top result. In terms of practical stuff you can try, keeping some dry crackers beside the bed so you can have something to eat before you get up - some women have found that helpful. Trying to keep your fluids up as much as possible might also help. Eating little and often and sticking to bland foods like dry toast or boiled rice might help. Anything you feel you can stomach, really. The sickness might pass, or it might not. If you do continue with sever sickness all the way through it can make you really poorly, so although you're not too impressed with the medical care you've had so far, make sure you stay in touch with them. I hope it does pass and you're able to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

There are still a few spaces available, and booking is required, so if you (or someone you know) would like to come along please get in touch! 9. CLE-CKY, have you been able to talk to your eldest about what's going to happen? That the new babies will need lots of attention but you still love her, just that the new babies won't be able to do anything for themselves etc. How has she felt about you being pregnant? Really helped with my little girl when I had my second in Feb, but she was a bit older...
  10. Hi all, I'm holding a special 'Relax before Xmas' session for pregnant ladies on Tuesday 11th December 6.30-8.30 pm at Sharrow Old Junior School. Suitable from 14 weeks of pregnancy, this will be about an hour and a half of movement to soothe pregnancy aches and pains and relaxation to help enjoy a time of year that can be a bit full-on even when you're not pregnant! There will also be festive nibbles and some sort of (non-alcoholic!) festive punch. What's not to love?! There will be birthing affirmation CDs available to buy courtesy of Rachel Dignall (http://www.birthpeacefully.co.uk) to support a new support group she is involved in setting up to offer support to women who suffer loss in pregnancy. All other profits will go to the SCBU at Jessop Wing. If you enjoy the session and would like to book in the new year (or if you can't make the December date but would like to join in January) then the next six-week term of classes will begin Tuesday 8th January 2013, also being held at Sharrow OJS. For more info or to book, please email [email protected]
  11. The next term of classes will start Tuesday 30th October at 30th October at 6.30 pm. Venue dependent on how many ladies book, but will be either Meersbrook or Sharrow! If you're thinking about joining but not sure if it's the class for you, book for a commitment-free first session. If you don't enjoy it you don't pay anything, but if you like it and would like to continue then the full £54 for the term is payable
  12. The next term of Daisy Birthing classes begins week beginning Monday 22nd October, venue TBC. Will post again once date and venue are rearranged! The course combines yoga-inspired movement, breathing and self-hypnosis-based anxiety release to boost enjoyment of pregnancy while preparing for labour. Classes are suitable from around 14 weeks pregnancy right up to 42! There's no note-taking, you learn while you move building 'muscle memory' and you don't have to be bendy to take part - all the moves are really gentle. The focus is on building confidence - in the process of labour and in your own body so that you feel informed and empowered however your baby's birth plays out on the day. Testimonials: "I've already been singing Lazy Daisy's praises to anyone with a bump as I really believe it helped me to stay calm and relaxed whilst sitting in the bath breathing in my lavender! Going with it rather than fighting contractions is definitely the way to go. I also felt i could trust that my body knew what it was doing and, actually, it did it's job super efficiently!" "I really feel that the Daisy way helped me have a fast first stage and kept me calm through a difficult second." "Just wanted to say a big thanks because the breathing exercises you showed me TOTALLY got me through the labour. It was 3 1/2 hours from beginning to end, mega quick and mega intense! So, all natural and she came out the right way round thank god! I barely had time to get the tens machine on, but I thought I was going to crumble, but the breathing really got me through. And the lovely music!" Classes run in 6-week terms and cost £54 for the full six weeks. I also run workshops for pregnant women and whoever will be supporting them in labour - the baby's father, a friend, or relative. During these I take you through a 'virtual labour' talking through each step and offering suggestions for your birthing partner to offer support throughout. As an added bonus, Lazy Daisy has teamed up with JoJo Maman Bebe and anyone signing up to weekly classes or a workshop will receive a 10% off code to use in-store or on-line. If you'd like more info, or to book, please email me at [email protected]. I am a registered with the Federation of Antenatal Teachers (FEDANT) no. 12164
