  1. Does anyone know where a convicted female from Sheffield would be sent to in the late 1920s early 30s? Her crime was I believe shoplifting and I know she spent time in a women's prison, family folklore says Manchester but I'm not sure. Can't find any info on ancestry website so hopefully someone will point me in the right direction for information. Thanks

  3. Hiya AC, Just phoned my mum re :Laura Burgoyne, she remembers her very well and her sister Shirley, my mum said they were both really nice, Shirley joined the Salvation Army just for the uniform , she sound a character, Laura was a very good swimmer, my mums auntie Doris was a Burgoyne and married my mums uncle and became a Cade, so there's a slight family connection also.
