The diesel vans were only until the electric buses were ready IIRC. So those drivers will now be using the electrics. -

Sheffield City Centre's Bus Gate? (Arundel Gate)
Resident replied to 26b-6's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Corporation St/Bridge Street into Rotherham Bus Station. But Wood Lane is another commonly ignored one though as there's no route through there anymore it's a little pointless. There used to be an automatic bollard enforcing it. -
I watched one episode once, from South Yorkshire. They stopped a car, 4 people inside. All four and the car were searched and all of them had enough drugs in their pockets to warrant Intent to supply charges plus the car was fully loaded too. Cops stated that it was clearly a drug courier car & caught before they could go their separate ways. At the end of the episode, when they typically tell you what happened next, the announcer stated that all four were released WITHOUT charge as the CPS decided there wasn't enough evidence.

Sheffield City Centre's Bus Gate? (Arundel Gate)

As someone who drives through Sheffield on a regular basis, if you miss the MULTIPLE LARGE signs placed from Furnival Gate roundabout about all the way upto the bus gate then it's time to hand in your licence. The image you've linked is from November 2022. The bus gate was introduced in March 2023 -
Slightly different but on the same vein. Small race tracks. The kind that were affordable to rent out by car enthusiasts and often were. Developers would buy nearby land and build housing on it and people would move in, in full knowledge of the track as it would be on their survey. They'd then start to complain about the noise and the council would enforce untenable restrictions meaning the track was useless. Now I don't condone street racing in anyway shape or form however the common call is "save it for the track". Those smaller tracks were often around £1000 for exclusive 1 day hire and you'd probably have a limit of 15 cars. So around £70/ea for the day. Big tracks are the only option now, Silverstone/Brands Hatch are in the region of £30,000/day for hire, so nowhere near affordable for the average enthusiast. Although in the US, one of the most famous racetracks in the world is currently being sued for noise. Leguna Seca. A track that long existed before the housing around it. (The housing sprang up BECAUSE of the track) Link

That's a biological FACT, not a belief. -
They're using Ultra-fast charger. Around 450kW. A typical kettle is 2.5kW. So to charge one bus it's like boiling 180 kettles for 3hrs continously. I've taken the .5 off for the charge entropy toward the end of the cycle There are 4 of them. Most electric vehicles are charged overnight, when there's no sun so explain to me how these 'green' buses are green.

School Fines - Discrimination Against The Family Unit
Resident replied to Resident's topic in General Discussions
Schools and the education dept need to remember they there to educate our kids, not parent them. I decide what's best for my child not them. It's overreaching and I'm highly tempted to send them a request for child support payments if they want to continue this overreach. -
School Fines - Discrimination Against The Family Unit
Resident posted a topic in General Discussions
https://www.theguardian.com/education/2024/feb/29/fines-children-england-to-rise-33-percent-unauthorised-absence The fines for non-attendance in term time, basically taking kids on holiday in term time are to increase from £60 to £80. What people are not told until the DoE threatens parents is that these fines are per child, PER PARENT. Meaning that a two-parent family is fined TWICE that of a single parent family simply because both parents stuck around. This, to me, is utterly unfair and discriminates against 2-parent families. Doubling the fine because both parents are present in a child's life is dispicable. It get worse too, if you ignore the fines then both parents are taken to court INDIVIDUALLY and prosecuted separately for the single offence. How is the law allowing this? Additionally the DoE recently & covertly scrapped an allowed for parents who work in industries where they do not get to choose when their annual leave is, one of the caveats that was mandated by the courts when the policy was introduced. -

Myself and the Mrs found ourselves kid-free for the day so we went into the Battle Bar on a Saturday afternoon and it was very quiet. We'd booked our activities but walk-ins were striaght into the games. As you said, the majority of the centre was deserted. There's no wonder that the pizza place closed. We exited via the escalators in search of food. Can't stand Nandos, don't see the appeal of paying twice as much for KFC just because they put it on a plate. -

On the flip side. In 2021 I had a debt collector from Northhampton threatening to take my car due to unpaid bus lane fines in Coventry, a place I've never been and fines I was never notified about. He told me they'd been sending me letters for the last 6 monthsof which I never recieved. Turns out they'd been sending them to an address in Newcastle. A place I've also never been, much less lived. He said I could have a 48hr stay whilst I contacted TEC. They emailed me the images from Cov Council and whilst it was my number plate it wasn't even the same make/model of car and TEC couldn't understand why they were sending all the documents to the wrong address. In the end I had to pay for a sworn statement that said it wasn't my car, the plates were clones and submit evidence that I only own my car, that it was registered at my address for the last 6 years that I've lived here. TEC then sent me a court order, recinding the enforcement. The debt collection agency kept sending me threatening letters so I went back to court & got a grand in compensation. They also got into a lot of hot water for ignoring the court order, which they were given a copy by TEC when it was issued -

We have 2 in our household. Both are needed else we wouldn't have 2. I use mine for work and my partner uses hers to go care for her grandma. Not everyone works 9-5
