  1. I've been down this route before when the button on my Saab key fob broke. Locksmiths etc can't do Saab key fobs, you can only get them from Saab dealers. They have the kit to plug into your engine management system to set you new key up. I agree with the earlier post that by far the most friendly and cheapest place to go is Paul Smith down Attercliffe
  2. The George and dragon as reopened after a refurbishement and is really nice now. Got to agree with the other poster though - The vine is the best one in the village , you can't beat it sat outside on a warm summers day
  3. You always hear on the news that the quality of air in Sheffield is really bad. But correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the air monitoring station actually on the roundabout at the M1 junction at Tinsley. Hence not only is it getting the fumes from the M1 , but also the millions of cars, vans, lorries queing to get into Meadowhall each year. My point been its an unfair comparrison with other area's of the country, and NO i don't think the speed limit shold be lowered - if anything with modern cars it should be raised.
  4. I'm in the Mosborough area and for years we've been able to get radio Lincolnshire, Humberside , Derby, Trent etc perfect on FM. But radio Sheffield's reception is awful. In fact on a radio's auto tune setting it doesn't even find it.
  5. One of the major events in recent years that used to bring a lot of people to the city was when Gatecrasher nightclub was at its height. I can remember getting talking to many various groups that had come from all over the country, and were booked into hotels purely to visit that place. Hence not only did the city center pubs benifit, the hotel trade did, and the city center shops. I also recall been abroad, as soon as you mentioned you came from Sheffield , quite often the reply was - oh we had a weekend there last such and such to visit Gatecrasher ! Think Sheffield council didn't quite see the bigger picture when then they turned down their plans for a new venue last year.
  6. I think a lot of people are getting the location wrong for the proposed new Asda. It is as someone pointed out the present site of Home Decor Innovations. Previously this company was called Stanley Acmetrack, which is what most local people remember it by. Stanley sold the buisness about 5 years ago to a American investment company. Who, and this is where it get complicted sold the building to a pension investment company but retained the buisness at the site. If Asda can get the necessary planning permission they are building Home Decor a new manufacturing site somewhere locally on a site as yet not decided
  7. check the website http://www.theboardwalklive.co.uk/
  8. I think for any visitor coming to Sheffield , walking out of the train station, up to the Peace Garden area must be amazed. Sheffield in recent years as been transformed in them areas, and they've done a fantastic job. Its a joy in the summer to sit outside those area's for drink.
  9. its closed for refurbishment over Christmas
  10. I remember this debate been in the Sheffield Star a few years ago about the A57 merging into one lane near the top. There was an artical published with it by South Yorkshire police that stated both lanes should be used , and traffic should merge in turn at the top. It also mentioned that people deliberatly blocking the outside lane were breaking the law and could be prosecuted. After following this debate on here , clearly no one is sure of what the actual situation /law on there is. So in my opinion the council should install signs instructing traffic to use both lanes and merge - the situation is then clear + no more arguments !!!
  11. I've always thought some signage instructing people to use both lanes would help and clarify the situation - especially on the A57 up to the parkway as described earlier
  12. If you've got a sky box check that the veiwing card is in the correct slot. I had this a few months ago at my mothers house where she complaining that the news was from London area. I was suprised to find that the box worked with the card in the wrong slot , some channels were missing, and like I said instead of local news programs they were from the London area. Once the card was in the correct slot everything was fine (took some blummin finding that this that was the cause though !)
