  1. THat's disgraceful. It is not used for commerce, it is by definition for carrying people, just like a car. And I wonder what has Corona got to do with anything?
  2. It is not difficult to justify things after the event. Somebody wins the lottery every week and they all have their own tale to tell - afterwards! Doing the lottery in itself displays a lack of knowledge about statistics as there are numerous more lucrative ways of gambling. If you have a forecast for the future and really believe it, you could dash across a busy main road today with a blindfold on, confident that you will live to experience your prediction. How many of you believers would do that? The only thing that counts is scientifically conducted trials and analysis, all of which proves conclusively that Tarot, Astrology, fortune telling etc. is rubbish. If you want to disagree, don't tell us stories about what happened to a friend of a relative, give us a rational criticism of the properly peer reviewed scientific reports which unanimously declare the truth but are ignored by the gullible.
  3. Let's be fair to The Star. Tonight 23/3/11 they have printed two letters criticising their own report and reiterating my earlier point. The £11,000,000 for the games was paid straight away and the ongoing debts including remortgages are for the facilities which started our regeneration and which we have been enjoying ever since. Can you remember what a dump attercliffe was before all this happened?
  4. I'm glad to hear that you don't come from a country that colonised Africa. Also delighted that you don't use gold, diamonds, food, flowers etc. produced by people who are half starved. As for the entertainment value, the viewing figures show you to be in a minority. If you find my original statement to be "very offensive" you are indeed a sensitive soul. Pity such sensitivity is restricted to your own feelings with none left for the needy.
  5. Red Pete's post on World Student Games is the best summary of events ever after all these years of criticism of the then ruling labour party. These facts should be publicised to a wider audience such as Sheffield star letters or the more substantial column by readers which they print from time to time. And this should be done before the forthcoming elections. Well done Red Pete, but don't just stop there.
  6. At first all parties supported the World Student Games. It went wrong financially when the TV companies backed out. At that point the libs and tories (or should I say tory) withdrew support when there was no chance of stopping. To do so would have incurred the cost without reaping the benefits of the facilities we have enjoyed ever since.
  7. What is the old testament there for? Why is it firmly bound along with the new testament, waved around in church, sworn upon and preached over? It even disagrees with itself in places so by definition contains lies. Evolution disproves it all anyway. There are fossils proven to be from millions of years before the world is supposed to have begun. I will rest before my onslaught into the second testament.
  8. There are some miserable sods on here. Children In Need is for children in the UK and to be fair a lot of it goes on what Africans would regard as luxuries. Comic relief goes to much more serious life-saving causes. We have been exploiting Africa for hundreds of years and we still do in many ways. It does no harm to give something back and have a good night's entertainment into the bargain.
  9. The helium depletion problems highlighted in the link provided here by Mr. Doctor, represent a serious threat to society, but the article fails to mention the fact that these balloons escape or are released and frequently can be seen littering our countryside and woodland. Worse still, those that reach the sea are mistaken for jellyfish resulting in the death of turtles which are an endangered species. This is a high price to pay when there are many alternative ways of letting children have a little fun.
  10. You may not have passed your test but rest assured you are a better driver as a result of your Advanced Driving experience. I don't agree with the guy who commented that observers only observe and don't train. What use would that be?
  11. Education is dangerous. Burn the books. Ban the opposition. Bring back fascism.
  12. Best way is to scrounge an old scrap speaker. Smash it open and the circular part at the back is a big strong magnet.
  13. I always thought Parkwood Springs was the posh name for the Medders and it spans right down to Parkwood Springs proper. Parkwood Road North is off Herries road across from the dumpit site and lines up with Parkwood road in Parkwood Springs proper. Note that Shercliff School is now Parkwood Academy. All of which is irrelevant, it will always be the Medders. The magnet was indeed Southey, not disputed by me or by "Get Thi Neck Weshed." but I must insist Morgan Road was never Shercliff. Herries Road was the dividing line between Shercliff and the rest. I remember the catapult incident. I think it was quite rightly not treated as a blameworthy case.
  14. The body of the indian was sent on to Nottingham where the show had moved to and he was buried there. He was exhumed in quite recent years and re-buried in his homeland as required by their tradition.
  15. Maz This sort of thing has been tested scientifically and proven quite consistently to be a load of rubbish. The best thing about tarrot readers is that they rob you without breaking your window.
