  1. Hey guys! It's very nice to hear that you were set on coming! I was really hoping to meet some of the SWFG. The night was a good start to our new Live nights. If any of you are on facebook we do now have an official fan page off the back of our Live Nights and we will be posting pictures and hopefully some videos of performances on there eventually. Look out for more announcements through the Forum for Live Nights, but I believe we aim for the next one to be in April =) Again, thanks for your interest and support! Keep in touch. [email protected]. AND the find the new facebook group at - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sheffield-Stories/107953692612113?v=wall Adam Sheffield Stories Team

  3. Dear all readers and writers of Sheffield Forum Writers Group! Just to keep you all in the loop, you have probably noticed over the past few posts by us that we now have an up-and-running website! Please check it out as it's got a lot of information on there and different ways to contact us! The URL is http://www.sheffieldstories.webs.com and we keep updating it and checking on it regularly as we do with the forum. On another note, we are building a mailing list of writers and people who are generally interested in the project and would like to attend the open mic nights. Please contact us via email to either submit a story OR to let us know you will be interested in hearing about the live mic nights! Check the website for information on the open mic nights too! Looking forward to hearing from and working with you soon! Adam Sheffield Stories Team
  4. Hey Coyley, Yes we've had quite a few responses from SFWG, and we are hoping there are still more to come! SFWG will definately get a mention as there has been a great response from everyone on here which we value immensely! Afterall, no-one tells a Sheffield story better than the people that live there! Our team meet up every friday so I will tell the rest of the group that we shall feature the SFWG on our website, and in our publication! Thanks for your story! Adam http://www.sheffieldstories.webs.com
  5. Hi billykat, You haven't missed it yet! - There is still plenty of time! We will soon be stopping submissions as we have to start the editing/publishing process and the arrangement of more live performance nights. To be sure that your submission is considered, I would advise that you submit it within the next week if you can. If not, preferably before mid-December. We are currently arranging our next live night for mid-December time also, so if you wish to perform your story, definately before then! I know this is a little vague, but submit as soon as you can! Thanks for your interest! Sheffield Stories Team http://www.sheffieldstories.webs.com
  6. This project is not paid, but authors gain the chance to have their work edited, published and also have the opportunity to perform their work to an audience on our live mic nights. It is a great way to get your work out there and also have it heard by many people. Budding writers gain a fantastic experience to note on CV's or to form part of a portfolio, and established writers will be extending their working areas into a massive project that is rapidly gaining interest throughout Sheffield. Although this project is unpaid, I feel that, as a writer myself, this is an opportunity that anybody wanting to go into writing should DEFINATELY consider. We hope to hear from you all soon! Adam Sheffield Stories Team
  7. The project is completely free to all writers! There are no entry charges and live mic nights so far have been free to those involved and will continue to be to performers! So... there is no cost to anyone. Thanks, Sheffield Stories Team
  8. Hello Allo1010 and Pattricia, At the moment we are accepting anything Sheffield related, we have had a few fictional stories that have been based in Sheffield but they have been based around real observations so we feel that they may work within our project! It's always nice to have a variation so feel free to be as creative as you want at this moment! Also, Allo1010, it really can be about anything about Sheffield, either based on your own experiences or based on something you've seen happening whilst out and about! Hope this helps and we look forward to hearing from you! Adam Sheffield Stories Literary Editing Team (Check out our website in progress too - http://www.sheffieldstories.webs.com)
  9. Hello Ron, Thanks for your interest in our project! It really is proving to be a great success amongst the people of Sheffield. The project is organised and funded by Sheffield Hallam University, and held an evening at the Off the Shelf Festival that will become an annual event. The stories themselves will be published in an anthology (projected for publication in 2011) and also online. As for a website, we are currently in the process of building one but we do have a facebook page (type Sheffield Stories into facebook) and there is soon to be a fanpage! The literary editing team is built up of four final year English students who have a range of experience between between us. All our work is overseen by tutor, and writer, John Turner. I hope this helps Ron and if you would like any more info - [email protected] Thanks again, Ron. Adam Sheffield Stories Literary Editing Team
  10. Hey all! Just to let you all know, SHEFFIELD STORIES was an event at the Off the Shelf Festival and will be a project that is continuing into 2011! Check out the Sheffield Stories thread on this forum! Thanks all! Sheffield Stories Team
  11. Hi Sarah, As the project is Sheffield Stories it does have to be relating in some way to Sheffield. If you need any ideas, think about your own personal journey to Sheffield, why you have stayed in Sheffield, or why you think other people come to Sheffield. You can be as creative as you want regarding any of these themes as long as the final piece is a short story! Thanks for your enthusiasm! If you need any more help or anything, feel free to contact us on the email above also, but we do check the forum daily! Also, when you submit your story, you will work with us to edit you story so be as creative as you want at this stage and don't worry too much at the moment! Good luck! Sheffield Stories Team
  12. 500 - 1000 words is just a guideline to keep stories around a similar length. Feel free to write your story and submit it at the length you wish and we will work with you to decide how best your story works! It may turn out that we will use your story as a longer piece of work! So don't worry too much about the word count just yet! Good luck! And spread the word! =D Thanks, Sheffield Stories
  13. CALLING ALL SHEFFIELD WRITERS! SHEFFIELD STORIES, a project that recently hosted an event at the OFF THE SHELF Literary Festival 2010, wants your stories! All you have to do is submit your stories (approx. 500 - 1000 words) to our team and we'll consider them for publication! That's right, your work could be published! As detailed in a recent review in the Sheffield Star, our project will work with you, the writer, to create an anthology and website of your work! The work will be edited by a professional student team alongside yourself. The story could be about: -Why you chose to live in Sheffield? -Why you've stayed in Sheffield? -Why do you love Sheffield? -Anything relating to Sheffield! We will also be hosting various live nights throughout the year (2010/11) where authors will get the chance to perform their work to an audience! Email your entries to the following email address... [email protected] (Members of the Literary Editing group that will select/edit the stories!) ...and our team will consider them for publication! Tell anyone you can about it who you think may be interested! This is a massive opportunity for any budding or established writer! =D GOOD LUCK ALL! =) [Feel free to drop us a comment below to let us know if you're thinking of submitting! Ta!]
