  1. On a thread about Hartley Brook school by Lizzybee I came across notification of a re-union that is to be held at the Attercliffe Libs on 14 November.Anybody out there going to this and will name tags be worn as it would certainly help people to recognise others that they have not seen in many a long year. I went to a similar thing before and did not recognise anyone when I am sure that I should have if they had been showing their names. I am going to attend if possible. Hope to see some people i know. Thanks for reading.
  2. Apologies for being slightly off-topic, but would any of you handsworth people know a family with the surname of Gyte. I am looking for Angela, the daughter. They lived on St Josephs Road in the Sixties, and moved there from Newhall Road, Attercliffe. I was a childhood friend and would love to know how she is now. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
  3. Did any of you out there go to secondary school in Handsworth. If so did you know a pupil by the name of Angela Gyte, or better still, know where she is now. We were childhood friends and I would like to know how she is now. My name is Keith, and we both lived on Newhall Road. Thanks. ---------- Post added 02-11-2015 at 23:48 ---------- Looks like my question is not going to get any answers. So does anybody know of the Gyte family, who lived on St Josephs Road, Handsworth. This would be about 1960 onwards. Thanks.
  4. Hi Glenn, Thanks for the info, I know exactly where you mean and if at all possible I will attend. As you say, name tags would be a great idea. Regards ---------- Post added 01-11-2015 at 22:55 ---------- What time does the re-union start, anybody know?
  5. Hi Longchat, Is this re-union for ex Attercliffe or Hartley Brook pupils. As I have lived for many years away from the area could you also refresh my memory and tell me where is the Attercliffe Libs. Thanks.
  6. I was brought up in a back to back house on Newhall Road Attercliffe, there were quite a few of these properties back then down there. We were moved out in about 1960 during the slum clearance, being re-housed on Shiregreen. The houses were all demolished some time later.
  7. If there is ever another one then maybe the idea will hopefully be suggested again. It would help a lot. Peoples memories (mine especially) of faces have been somewhat dulled by the passing of time. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for any re-unions.
  8. Sure will Glenn, I went to a Newhall re-union at Shiregreen Club some time back and it was ok, the only trouble was no one was wearing name tags which would have been useful for identification. There were probably more people there that I knew, than what I was aware of because of this. Hope there is another anyway, and would attend if possible.
  9. Hi Glenn, my surname is Nicklin. I came originally from Newhall Road, Attercliffe and then re- housed on Shiregreen.
  10. Ive often wondered about a Hartley Brook reunion too, I was there between 1961 to 65. In the fourth year I was in class 4 a 1, my class teacher being Mr Webster, I am Keith N if anyone remembers me.
  11. Hi all, is there anyone out there who lived on here at about this time. I am looking for information about a family called Guite or Gyte (not sure about the spelling) There was a daughter called Angela who would have been about 10 at that time, and we were friends living down Newhall Road until about 1958 when they were moved to Handsworth. It would be nice to know what happened to her. Thanks, Keith.
  12. Hi pete, yes went along. There was a decent turnout. I was talking to Jeff Poulton, Alan Hough and Jean Longhurst. Its a bit annoying though because I felt that I must have known more people there that I did not recognise. It would have been a great idea for everyone there to wear a name tag, then you would know who they were, after all we are talking about a long time ago. But it was a decent night. Sorry that you and Trevor didn't make it. Keith.
  13. Has there ever been a reunion for Hartley Brook pupils from the years 1960 to 65 does anyone know? or is there anything being planned.
  14. eyup Don Rd Dude, Thanks for that pete, shame you cant be there, all the best.
