  1. My Mum went to Pyebank School in the 1940s. She was Ann Fletcher and lived on Rock Street. She used to mention Peter Stringfellow being at the school around the same time as her, but I think he was in a different class. I think there are some mentions of Miss Fisher in some of the posting, which is a teacher I think Mum also used to talk about!
  2. I would very much like to attend the service, so do please update with details again nearer the time!
  3. Have you tried Pets As Therapy? They're a national organisation, but there are volunteers in the area.
  4. Just to say that my brother has worked in a Pizza Express for years and he's in his 30s, so I would say that means they are pretty good employers!
  5. For all those going to the dogs, please consider making a donation to the Retired Greyhounds Trust after your visit to the races! There's an awful lot of retired racing dogs out there needing homes.
  6. Didn't there used to be one at the Hallamshire Hospital?
  7. I like both types of coffee shop, but for an evening would probably prefer more of a shabby chic kind of place.
  8. I also think Sheffield is really missing a coffee place that stays open late. Coffee Revolution used to be the only place, but even that closes early now.
  9. Thanks for the tips! I've been ironing my seams as I've been going along, but will make sure I have another go before I put it all together.
  10. Thank you! Think I'll have a go at option 2
  11. I'm making a patchwork quilt and have just about finished putting all the blocks together. I know I make a "sandwich" of the patchwork top, batting middle and backing, but am wondering when I do the actually quilting part. Do I make the sandwich and then stitch around the patchwork sections to make it quilted? Hope this makes sense!
  12. I went to the breast clinic last year. I just had the mammogram as they didn't think a biopsy was necessary. Would agree that a cardigan is needed to go over you gown, especially in this weather! And take extra time before your appointment if you are going by car as finding a space isn't always easy. It's a fantastic service as everything is sorted out at the same visit, so hope you go on ok.
  13. Try posting on Freecycle. Or keeping a look out on Freecycle for anyone offering tools, etc. Sheds do come up occasionally but I think they are snapped up pretty quickly!
  14. St Luke's will collect, but they won't take hardback books.
