  1. I can see your point, but it is generally a bad idea to park a car up for a long time. Really you need to drive it about a bit, but can't do this if it isn't taxed and insured. It helps if you just run the engine every so often, but also the wheels need to spin and such like.
  2. Why do so many people write "I am wanting", when "I want" is much quicker and easier, and the polite form is usually "I would like" anyway?
  3. these people welcome TVs http://www.gendertrust.org.uk/
  4. Why would you buy a car that you can't drive?
  5. I went past this just after it must have happened. I only caught a glance and thought it was simply a cyclist who had fallen off and was being attended to. What I can say is that it didn't happen at 7pm, it was 6.55 when I went past and I can be exact as I was trying to get somewhere for exactly 7pm. I expect someone already has the exact times, but this may be helpful.
  6. Why do ghosts only appear are very blurry images on videos taken by dubious people who believe in them but then fail to materialise at all when rooms full of professional scientists look for them?
  7. I have called NATO and the United Nations. They'll be in touch shortly.
  8. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck .... then it is a highly trained MI5 operator acting as a duck during a training exercise.
  9. Is it the speed at which tinfoil hats fall from your head?
  10. This is exactly what you have done. You are suggesting that he either committed a treason, or was expected to commit treason, that was so serious that the government killed him. This means you are calling someone a traitor without any evidence. It also means that you are calling other crown servants murderers without any evidence. If any of the deluded drivel you spout were true, then they would surely just knock him down with a car or give him a secret injection of super-secret stuff that makes it look like suicide? Would they really kill him in a way that attracts the attention of the entire UK media?
  11. Well I am a biker, and I think it is in bad taste to not wear a helmet at the funeral of someone who died in a motorbike accident.
  12. How is it "off topic" if the thread is about a funeral, and I am discussing that funeral? I don't believe that such a tradition exists, but if it did, it is still against the law, and in very poor taste.
  13. If you are following a funeral procession and normally wear a hat, for example if you are in the military or are a funeral director with a top hat, then you keep your hat on. You take your hat off under different circumstances, either when entering the church, at the graveside, or as a "salute" as a procession passes. I can't be the only one that thinks it ridiculous, that people would endanger themselves by not wearing a helmet, when at the funeral of someone who died in a motorbike accident, can I?
  14. I thought I saw them riding without helmets as well, perhaps someone could confirm this? It is very perverse way to honour someone who has died in a motorcycle accident isn't it?
  15. I was harassed by TV Licensing, and ended up with compensation from them. Despite this, they still haven't changed their methods, despite me politely pointing out that they can't cope with people like me, who don't own a TV. For example, amongst the dozens of letters they sent me are ones that have two choices a) I have a TV Licence b) I would like to buy a TV Licence. There is nowhere on these letters/forms for "I don't have one". If you call the only number they give (which costs money) then it is simply the line to buy a licence.
  16. I was there, and I heard the bombs going off .... Hang on, there is someone breaking in. It's two blokes dressed in black. Aaaaghhhh!!!!!
  17. It is hard to believe* that someone would post a video which seems to suggest that clingfilm making a bit of noise is proof of ghosties exist, could really expect not to have other people have a bit of a laugh at their expense. It is funny ate least in part because these people take themselves, and their pseudo-science so seriously, when it is clearly drivel. *although this thread perhaps proves that some people will believe anything.
  18. I am in complete agreement with Tony, but for the record will state that all religions are silly. However, most "faiths" rely on the followers believing in something that they cannot see or measure. The difference between those faiths and those that are "investigating" this house in maltby, is that words such as "investigation" are used. The "investigators" use devices that pretend to be in some way scientific, so that they can pretend that their "faith" has real basis in fact. They are generally closed minded people who have decided what happens and then fabricate evidence (not always knowingly) in order to reinforce their views. On the other hand, people like Tony and I, are open minded as we would be very interested to see real proof of ghosties if it can ever be produced/.
  19. No faith, just science. When lots of people with some "equipment" start saying things like "EMF is unusually high here", then that is them pretending that it is scientific. If you think it is a "faith", then that is fine. If you start trying to back it up with rubbish videos that show nothing really happening then that is "deluded".
  20. The expensive bit is the timing belt. This can't actually have failed, otherwise the engine would be junked, they probably have just found that it has not been replaced at the recommended interval. It is possible, though unlikely, that they managed to inspect it and that is why they want to replace it. In any case, it might go for years without needing changing, but when it fails it will ruin your whole engine. This is usually a job for a garage and will be at least £200, probably £300. The brake cylinders probably have leaks, and you can probably get a set of seals and do it yourself. Tyres can be as little as £20 each, but I doubt all four are illegal at the same time. It is more normal to wear the front two first. The wipers probably work, it will just be rubbers which cost a few quid. I don't know how much spark plugs are, but not much, and they are easy to fit.
  21. Can I just point out that the amount might now be £44K, but will be 42,375 in April. The likelihood is that it will be lower still by the time the child benefit is withdrawn.
  22. The rule for such thing is easy. The minimum age for [insert activity here] should be one year less than the age of the moaner proposing the rule.
