  1. yes you do, I was employed for five weeks (casual/temp contract) in 2007 and the company dismissed me after just two days off sick, with no notice so I took them to Tribunal and won - it should been somewhere in my previous posts, contact ACAS , good luck! Jo
  2. token meter taken out the other week, and last week had a letter saying , surprise surprise we were on the wrong tariff, not had the bill yet..... will post back when we do
  3. baby stuff wipes etc, yes provide but heating and food, not really but perhaps ask how much she pays per week in heating then break it down per day then per hour and just pay for when your child is there, a bit pedantic perhaps
  4. earlier this year me and hubby signed on on the 28th dec 2007, didn't get any money till january 11th 2008
  5. ....don't talk like that, no you're not better off dead, no job or employer is worth ending your life for, I mean that in a nice way if you know what I mean. You can get another job, you can't get another you. Jo
  6. ermm yes they can fire you, read some of my previous posts, hubby was dismissed last year by Royal Mail, suffering from Depression which is recurrent, he is still in the middle of the Tribunal.....CWU didn't want to know
  7. sorry Orbrey, we were with Plusnet 2 years ago and we moved house, so they were supposed to re-connect phone line(keep same number) line rental and broadband but they didn't and even took money out of bank via direct debit then they even had the cheek to send us a bill for re-connecting.... we didn't pay it so it went to DCA and they got a few choice words I can tell you. Why should I pay £105 for a service they never provided so two months after we moved , we went to and still are with BT , just had the bill for last 3 mths - £133, yes, expensive I know but tried Talk Talk, then Plusnet....
  8. we've just had the token meter taken out, it was in when we moved in two years ago and if Npower dare say that we owe them money they will get a right mouthful cos the meter man came round every 12 weeks on the dot to read it and we phoned up with our own reading as well. If Npower have incompetent staff working for them that's not my fault! just for info we used to put £5 - £10 a week on.
  9. "but excludes, Wath, Swinton, Brampton, Oughtibridge & Stocksbridge" .....why are they excluded? don't people of these towns pay any council tax then to either Rotherham or Sheffield?
  10. neighbours? yes our are great (in a sarcastic tone of voice), one side assaulted my son and his friend and the other side she spoke for the first time the other week (we moved here 2 yrs ago!), she snarled at me and hubby for cutting the joint hedge, apparently some of the cuttings were falling on her garden and it meant she has to sweep up......
  11. so then why not move it to General Discussions..... http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=405763 , looks like its the same subject to me perhaps mods could merge them and confirm if you live in Rotherham if you can or can't post on a Sheffield forum....does anyone know the web address for Rotherham Forum? or perhaps have a Rotherham Discussion section?
  12. ermm, this thread http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=404447 , isn't it about Jamie Oliver & Rotherham? or isn't that relavant either?
  13. BBC South Yorkshire website: Rotherham Council said it had deposited £3.8m in Landsbanki and one of its subsidiaries, while Doncaster Council has invested £3m. ......wondered where the council tax had gone!
  14. £45 - £70 a week but thats for three people.....and includes loo roll, washing up liquid etc not just food items I've been buying two BBQ packs from Morrison's approx £2.70 each which have a pork chop(sunday dinner) and one beefburger (monday - Cornish pasties/spaghetti bolognese/savoury mince/lasange) two sausages (tuesday - sausage casserole/toad in the hole) so even including the cost of green beans(£1.39) carrots(45p) and potatoes (£1.50ish) so three meals for three days for two people for under £10, beat that Jamie Oliver! or you can get seven cooked meals from only three main ingredients, pork joint, mince beef and sausages and using vegetables on more than one day. Sunday: - Pork Joint - Potatoes- carrots- 1/2 cauliflower - make own yorkshire pudding mix ...................................... Monday : - Pork casserole ( using leftover pork from sunday+ packet mix) potatoes - carrots, green beans ............................ Tuesday : - Spaghetti bolognese ( keep half of mince for wednesday), packet mix - mushrooms, onions, tin tomatoes ......................... Wednesday : - Savoury mince - packet mix , potatoes, green beans, carrots ........................... Thursday : Sausage casserole - (keep half of sausages for friday) packet mix - sausages - mushrooms - onions - potatoes - green beans .................... Friday : - Toad in the hole - make own yorkshire pudding mix - sausages - potatoes - green beans - carrots ........................ Saturday : - Vegetable curry - 1/2 cauliflower (save other half for sunday dinner vegetable curry..... here is the recipe: (serves two large portions) 2 potatoes (peeled and chopped) 2 carrots (peeled and chopped) 1 small onion ( chopped) 1/2 of a cauliflower ( chopped into florets) jar curry paste ( Asda smartprice -27p or Mirrison 6p) pilau rice 2 Naan bread put potatoes, carrots, onion, cauliflower and curry in large saucepan, boil for about 2 minutes then simmer for 25-35 minutes, cook rice and Nan bread as jar/packet instructions and you have a cheap filling curry in about 35 minutes.
