The dust on your monitor and TV screen is radioactive and contains Polonium if you have an old style cathode ray tube rather than LCD or flat screen - FACT http://www.blackcatsystems.com/GM/experiments/ex1.html

I have a couple of Geiger counters off eBay. The CDV-700 is a good all rounder. I found the link bout the radiotherapy patients setting off alarms - http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070130/od_nm/usa_radioactive_dc_1&printer

It's only a religion, it's not actually true you know
-
Were you actually radioactive then? There's recent reports of patients undergoing radiotherapy setting off Homeland Security alarms and being given a hard time at various public events in the USA such as big football matches and at airports.

Just to confuse matters further Woodholm Road off Ecclesall Road near the bus terminus used to be called Ecclesall Hall Road. -
There will be an answer, muslim scholars ponder every permutation of their faith endlessly. I asked once how they cope with Ramadan north of the Arctic Circle in summer when the sun never sets and there was an answer - they follow Mecca time.

Weston Park Museum nominated for Gulbenkian prize
Guest_225 replied to Guest_225's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
What can I say? The only other museums I've visited in the last twelve months are- Victoria and Albert, London Science Museum, London Ashmolean Museum, Oxford History of Science Museum, Oxford Pitt-Rivers Museum, Oxford, Wakefield Museum Kelham Island Millenium Galleries and Ruskin museum I would recommend all those museums as places where all ages could learn something. I would not recommend the new Weston Park museum except as a place to take young children. -
I thought it was some sinister scientific facility where they use stem cells to generate the tisuue they render down to supply the Hendersons Relish factory accross the road. If you look at the road you can clearly see the new tarmac where the underground pipeline was laid between the two buildings.

It seems the new Weston park museum was nominated for the Gulbenkiian Prize. I hope it doesn't get it because it's the worst museum I've visited for a long time, complete crap. Anyone know who would have made this nomination? I thought the Gulbenkian Foundation was a respectable arts organisation who wouldn't be happy to hear of the destruction of the art gallery at Weston Park and the creation of the 'giant free creche' Article here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/oxfordshire/6323295.stm

I would be interested to know what was on the Berkeley Precinct site before it was built.

Ah, that's why I've never seen it then. It's on the other side of the invisible-line-which-must-never-be-crossed

Is sharrowvale road missing a type of shop?
Guest_225 replied to meggy's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
They closed because they were underused. Everyone went to buy their fruit and veg at the supermarket so they had to close. Strange because fruit and veg shops were always much cheaper than the supermarket. -

Where is the Fultons in town? I know the one in Crookes, didn't realise they were a chain.

I'm surprised the listing is still up as human body parts are on the list of items banned on eBay.
