  1. I'm assuming all these 'teen' mums were wearing age badges and thats how you knew they were 15/16/17 etc? I only ask as I'm 27, married and own a house but most people think I look more like 18. If anyone dared approach me to show me their disdain at a 'teen' mum, they wouldnt live to tell the tale. I hope people actually consider that these people may be a lot older than they appear and the apparent 'issue' of teen mums being rife in the city isnt actually an issue at all.
  2. Hoping someone can give me some advice over what to do with a problem we're having with the neighbour. I live in a terraced house with a shared garden, and for our neighbour to get to his side of the garden he has to cross our side first. Our neighbour parks his car on his side of the garden by driving over our side to his, this we are fine with. However a few days ago another car appeared in the back yard on our side completely blocking the entrance from our garden to the road. Our bin day is this morning so we left it until last night to go around if the car was still there as we would be unable to get the bin out with the car there. We went around and our neighbour said it was his friends car and he was storing it there for a while and he didnt have the keys to move it. We left it there as he wasnt really in a state to talk to anymore. Im just wondering what we should do now? Do we have any sort of rights to make him move the car? I have no idea what do to about it, I really dont want to get into a fight with him over this and we'll leave it a few more days to see if the car gets moved but if its still there next week what do you think we can do? We need access to our own backyard not just for to get the bins out but if we need to take things around the back of the house and at the minute we have no access there at all. Any advice would be appreciated as we're at a loss of where we stand in a matter like this!
  3. ok well theres a little red panel thing at the bottom on the front, how do i get it off? it has a picture of a hand with a line through it which is slightly worrying haha do i need to prise it off with a screwdirver or something?
  4. I really dont know anything about washing machines soooo firstly whats the trap? and where would I find it?!
  5. Just put a load of washing in and after a few minutes the washing stopped and some error lights came on the machine. I looked up what they meant and apparently its something to do with pipes being blocked? The water wont drain out of the machine so I assume that there's some gunk or hair etc stuck in the pipes somewhere. I cant afford to get someone to fix it so I looked online for some advice and it ikeeps telling me to clean out the pipes and filter. However when I take off the back panel I can see the grey pipe that goes to the sink, that attaches to a little box and then a black pipe comes out of that into something further up the machine. Now my problem is I cant seem to get either of these pipes off to try and clean them out! They're fastened in with some kind of round plastic thing that is impossible to remove. To cut a long story short does anyone know how I am suppossed to get the pipes unfastended to clean them out?? My machine is a WD420 Hotpoint Aqarius. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
  6. As above. I need somewhere to park for a few hours near division street/moor area. I know Staples is free but theres a 1 hour time restriction during the day. Is this lifted at night does anyone know?
  7. this is exactly what our cat used to do when we shut the bedroom door, she'd pull up the carpet and make such a racket that we had to open the door then she'd run in and proceed to knock everything off the shelves, pull the curtains open, try and grab at our feet under the covers so we couldnt sleep and we'd put her out of the room again then she'd pull the carpet up again and we'd open the door..............it was a vicious circle! the only way we found to stop her was to nail down the carpet outside the room she realised she couldnt pull it up and hence not make a racket so we wouldnt open the door and she eventually gave up and doesnt do it anymore. the main thing is not to give in and open the door as thats what they want!
  8. Thanks everyone I feel a bit better about it now! I will let you know how it goes!
  9. We've seen a cat we would like to rehome and they're coming round to do a home visit but i'm worried! Does anyone know what they will be looking for? Has anyone else had a home visit and know what happens? Thanks!
  10. I have just returned home from work to find a letter from British Gas saying we owe them £141.08 from a final bill on 17/10/06. We moved into our house on the 4/10/06 and immediately changed suppliers to NPower and know for a fact we paid off British Gas as I specifically remmeber paying the bill and receiving a letter from them saying our account was closed. They claim they have tried contacting us which they havent and now have passed the debt onto a debt collection agency. On the letter they dont know our names they only put 'The Occupiers'. What position are we in regards to ignoring this letter? Can they actually do anything in terms of collecting this supposed debt? Annoying I no longer have the letter from British Gas confirmed that we paid as it was over 2 years ago and assumed I would no longer need it after I'd kept it for over a year in case of anything like this happenning! I didn't expect it now! Any advice on what we should do would be appreciated!!
  11. as soon as i read this i knew you were going to say it actually turned out to be a girl! its exactly what our kitten starting doing before we had her spayed and we wondered what on earth was wrong with her!
  12. http://www.glassscratchrepair.co.uk/index.html we bought this kit and it got the scratch out of our windscreen without needing to take it anywhere or have it replaced. This is what it says about ice scrapers in the FAQ section: Will it repair glass scratches from a frost scraper? Yes, this is a common problem in winter months. A recent customer had a two-month-old car with a scratched windscreen that he had over-enthusiastically scraped frost off of.
  13. sometimes i find our cat asleep with her head down the side of the sofa, she also likes plastic bags too for a snooze!
  14. yeah when i lost my purse on a night out before the DVLA would issue me another license I had to call the police and report it being lost and get a crime reference number to give to them
