  1. Its not kennel cough. I'm not absolutely sure if its a cold as she doesn't seem to be ill, but I've mad an appointment to see the vet today.
  2. My four month puppy appears to have a cold. she is coughing quite a lot, has sneezed a few times and occasionally rubs her nose with her paws. I haven't phoned the vet because I am sure they will tell me to come in and I wouldn't take a baby to the doctors for a common cold. any advice?
  3. Does anyone know anything about the foxes that have appeared on some of the walls of buildings on Broadfield Road?
  4. This is a very late addition to the discussion, but I have just been researching this and this is what I found on one site:http://www.chocolatefishmerino.co.uk/technical/care.html#Soap There are very good reasons for us saying do NOT use fabric conditioner on wool clothing. Fabric conditioners were developed to remove static from synthetic fabrics. Synthetic fabrics are solid fibres and cannot absorb anything (which is why they do not โ€œwickโ€). The fabric conditioner simply coats them to prevent the build up of static and at the same time try to disguise the awful smell that develops on synthetic fabrics, especially those worn next to the skin. Wool, in contrast, not only does not produce static, it has a core that absorbs moisture. The fabric conditioner will be absorbed into this core, making it impossible for the fibres to do their work of removing the moisture from your skin and releasing it into the atmosphere. Instead it will leave a greasy sticky smelly mess. apperentley you shouldn't use a fabric conditioner oon silk either, They recommend a product called Liquid Soap flakes, which I think you can get in Tesco and you can use in the washing machine.
  5. I like the thought of a second hand furniture place. I am close to Abbeydale Road, which has a second hand office furniture shop. - I will try that Thanks for the advice everyone. Pip
  6. Public and educational libraries use a computerised system and have done for years. I am going to ask them if they have kept their old cars, but it has been years and years, so I think I will be very lucky if I can get any. I will let you know. Pip
  7. I don't know if anyone can help, but I'm trying to get hold of old completed card files. I'm an IT teacher and I want the kids to understand the difference between records that used to be filed on paper and how records are kept now. I could really do with loads and loads of examples of paper records, which the kids could try and use - put in order of name, try and find one particular record, file according to subject etc. I can't find anything on the web or think of anyone to ask so if anyone has any ideas I would be grateful. Pip
  8. My husband is trying to find a replacement engine for his diesel Renault Megane Cabriolet. He wants to buy a second hand engine because he can't afford a new/reconditioned one. the problem is that there are a lot of liars out there and there is no way of knowing who they are. so far, he has not been able to verify the mileage claimed on most occasions, although he has found out the mileage was inaccurate (way too low) twice. We have decided the best way to buy an engine would be from a Renault Megane Cabriolet owner, who was getting rid of his car as a write off. That way we could see the car and engine together and see what the mileage was. I'm posting this in the faint hope that someone who reads it could help us. I know its a faint hope, but I thought it was worth asking. Cheers.
  9. Some family members like bathing in the dark.
  10. I don't know what they're called, but I'd say that they are definetly not edible, as I recognise most of the edible ones.
  11. We have a problem with our bathroom ceiling, in that it keeps on becoming mouldy - we have repainted it loads of times, but it is getting worse. I know it is because of condensation, I'm just not sure what the best solution is. the bathroom does have a window, although it only opens at the bottom, but we keep on forgetting to open it. I'm not sure about using an expelair fan, as surely that needs to be switched on, and it we forget to open the window, won't we forget to switch on the expelair? I know it could be connected to the light switch, but we don't want that. I have discovered some sort of plastic planks, that I could put on the ceiling, which might be theabnswer, but I just don't know. any advice gratefully appreciated.
  12. I last saw him on Broomhill in June, when he said that he wasn't retiring until christmas.
  13. Can anyone help me? I am trying to contact Dr Hayes-Allen. I used to see him at Broomhill Medical Centre, but he appears to have vanished.
  14. Thank you everybody - we went to Botanical gardens and it was a lovely day out.
  15. I am looking after an elderly lady tomorrow and I know she would like to be taken out. I need to go somewhere flattish, but she has been to most of parks near us (Meersbrook). I do have a car, so we can travel, although not too far. Any ideas?
